Reminds me of Trump’s speech every year announcing ‘we’re allowed to say Christmas now because I eliminated the woke mob’. Bro if this is your achievement every December the bar must be on the ground.

u/randomredditor55S55 1d ago
He says things so that the arena he is standing in will cheer. His supporters have the low bar. He called them all stupid and they clapped.
Meanwhile, him and his kids are laughing all the way to the bank. They are, in fact, winning.

The bar is a tripping hazard in hell and trying to catch up with the bar for common decency

The bar isn't just in Hell, Trump is basically limbo dancing with the Devil

I did not know any of those existed, except for Christmas. Are those international or just USA?
Also if every day of the year is a special something day then no day is special, Right?
4
u/TheJadeGoddess 1d ago
From what I saw i believe they are all international. Everyday has a different meaning, a different thing to reflect on. It doesnt make it less special. For some people these mean nothing, to others it is important and impactful.

u/jeremyw013 22h ago
i mean it's someone's birthday every day... not sure what your point is unless you don't celebrate your own birthday
1
u/Principle_Napkins 1d ago
I think it varies from place to place. There's also aromantic visibility week right after Valentine's Day.
18
u/Ok_Prior2199 1d ago
Ive only ever seen the opposite and see right wingers get pissed when someone says “happy holidays”
Reminder: it was FOX news that started the “war on Christmas” bullshit
14
u/decentnamesweretak3n 1d ago
nobody cares about if someone wishes someone else a happy christmas. i'm literally jewish and will still tell all my friends happy christmas. observing one holiday or specific event doesn't automatically mean you hate all the other ones
2
u/Principle_Napkins 1d ago
The more the merrier I think. I'd be more than happy to celebrate all the big holidays, if only holidays weren't exhausting as it is.
1
u/decentnamesweretak3n 1d ago
not to mention expensive too ("-ࡇ-)=3
2
u/Principle_Napkins 1d ago
Doesn't have to be expensive. I don't really get any decor or gifts (for Christmas), so all I have to deal with are the food expenses. Not too difficult to cook up food for the holidays on the cheap, problem is finding the energy to cook it in the first place.

u/Gynthaeres 1d ago
These people are so moronic sometimes. They think that the push to "Happy Holidays" means that we for some reason hate "Merry Christmas". It's so ridiculous.
Happy Holidays is used because it's more accurate. Not everyone celebrate Christmas. There's also like four holidays squeezed into that time period, so it's easier right now to wish someone "Happy Holidays" than like, "Happy Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, or anything else you might celebrate!"
Also all of these "special holidays" are big nothing-burgers. Every other day or week there's some sort of "awareness" going on. No one cares.
7
u/Cadunkus 21h ago
There are a shocking amount of people who genuinely hate it when you say "Merry Christmas" but I find it's less lgbt and more fedora-tipping r/atheist users.
2
u/THEREALOFFICALCAFE 10h ago
Those fuckers give all atheists and agnostics a bad name. I'm an agnostic, but Christmas is my favorite time of year bar none. I love everything about it, even though I don't believe in the core concept.
6
u/bloodpumpkin 1d ago
I haven't heard anyone offended by Merry Christmas. I've seen a lot of snowflakes get offended by "Happy Holidays" though...
5
u/the_orange_alligator 1d ago
I’ve gotten so used to the edited version where the speech bubble says “it’s grip your coffee very hard day” that the original looks weird
5
u/Affectionate-Act1574 1d ago
The people that actually get upset about holiday phrasing don’t realize their rage exists on a one-way street
6
5
u/DECLANKIRBOI 1d ago
Remember when they all got upset that Trans Day of Visibility fell on the same day as Easter one year?
6
u/Bloodless-Cut 1d ago
Strawman. Nobody actually cares whether you say "merry Christmas" or "happy holidays."
I fucking hate Christmas, and even I DGAF.

u/Ravenboi15 1d ago
It's funny because Christmas is a pagan holiday and(!) Jesus wasn't born on Christmas most scholars agree his birthday was in the middle of summer! Also, he was supposedly born 6 to 10 years earlier or later than Christians think. We know this because the census mentioned in the story of his birth was a real event but could not have been carried out by the real life person eho was also mentioned as he was dead at the time.
3
u/bbyxmadi 22h ago
I say both whenever, unless someone is visibly Muslim and or Jewish (like a hijab or a kippah). Happy holidays should also work if you just center Christianity like these people do, considering there’s Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years… HOLIDAYS.
3
u/CommercialMotor570 21h ago
Ah yes, Christmas, a notoriously hated holiday by the trans community…?

4
u/Game_Knight_DnD 1d ago
This is insane for sure.
Very leftist person with grown gay children, no one is like this.
I love the winter holidays, I am atheist and often use happy holidays vs merry Christmas, I prefer to call it Yule, but often use Christmas myself and never ever get upset by someone saying that.
As far as the first part, not part of my kids communities so maybe they do in some way celebrate those days, I just cover it with a happy Pride message at the start of June, asking what if they have plans and reminding me if they are going to large events to let me know so i can worry and keep an eye out on the news, because that is something you do as parent in this world sadly. Pride month is the month I worry the most about my kids getting assaulted.
3
u/Suspicious_Dingo_426 1d ago
Those on the right can be very much like that, and they project that on others. They are the ones that have a yearly meltdown over not saying 'Merry Christmas', they would also have a turbo meltdown if someone said any of those others to them (as they actually do every Pride Month).
1
u/SuccessfulFinish2843 1d ago
why would you call it yule as an atheist? genuinely asking
2
u/Game_Knight_DnD 1d ago
Because I like the sound of it.
Because my brother at various times in his life has been a Wiccan and I picked it up from him.
1
u/UniversityStrong5725 15h ago
“why would you call it autumn instead of fall as a non-native English speaker?” sounds about as senseless as the question you just asked lol
1
u/letsBurnCarthage 11h ago
Why not? Yule is the pagan holiday celebrated before christmas came and coincided with it. In the Nordic languages it's synonymous. Our word for christmas is "jul".
2
u/Odd-Promotion2743 1d ago
The Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays thing is beef from like 25 years ago at this point, and I'm not convinced it actually happened anywhere outside of a Fox News segment.
2
u/Sea_Bread_4445 1d ago
I am John Liberal. I have blue hair and pronouns. Whenever someone mentions christmas around me i go into a blind rage
2
u/Effective-Window-922 1d ago
When i was in retail the only people that get upset about a seasonal greeting was when people got wished Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. I also worked at a store that would play both secular and religious christmas songs (ie, Oh Little Town of Bethleham), but we only played the music, not the words. Nobody ever got upset that we were playing religious songs, but several people for upset that we didnt play the version with words.
2
u/roonskee 1d ago
In addition to all the other nonsense in this comic, just wanted to point out that Trans Day Remembrance isn’t a “happy” holiday. It’s to memorialize trans people who were murdered. Anyone who knows this isn’t going around wishing a happy TDoR to randos.
2
u/SpinerockNolan 1d ago
It's so funny and frustrating that they get mad at corporate speak. No one gives a shit about it, but some suits decided that "happy holidays" would either score them some PR points or marginally increase their sales.

u/poopiebutt505 22h ago
The interesting thing about Merry Christmas, is that it is the only religious celebration in the listsnofndays or weeks. The reason people say Happy Holodays, is that there are multiple religions celebrating at winter solstice times. From Druids and earlier, humans knew the shortest daylight times day. Christmas is just one of them. People who I know.are.Christmas people, I will say Christmas. For Holiday maniacs, like me, I say HAPPY Holidays, and Vhristmas, Kwanzaa, solstice, HANUKKAH etc, et al. So much fun.
2
u/MuzzyMnic 21h ago
I had a stroke reading this.
1
u/A_Complete_Nerd 16h ago
I think what they're trying to say is, there are many holidays celebrated around the beginning of winter, and Christmas is only one of them. You could say Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Merry Christmas etc etc if you want to be specific, whereas Happy Holidays is all-encompassing.

u/woodworkerdan 1d ago
It's rather remarkable how the "war on christmas" is brought up time and again, with zero genuine evidence. Unless one wants to point out the hyper-commercialization of the holiday and how they only piously think of the Hallmark movie morals for half a month out of the year, then actively advocate for many contrary policies once New Year's is cleaned up.

I know it is wrong to hate on people who aren't "male" or "female", but I find that these kinds of people kind of whine.

u/ShupTruck 1d ago edited 1d ago
You'd be surprised.
A few trans people are pretty anti-religious and they can get quite heated. I've seen people call out companies for openly celebrating Christmas but not pride month.
6
u/Bsjennings 1d ago
I dont care for religion, but if someone says Marry Christmas to me then im not going to give a fuck. You making a strawman is wild.
-4
u/ShupTruck 1d ago edited 1d ago
I never said it wasn't a strawman.
It's just an observable behavior online. I don't think this comic is speaking generally but instead calls out a very specific type of person.
6
u/Bsjennings 1d ago
You said you seen people freak out because a company is celebrating christmas instead of pride month lol

A few trans people can be anything. That's what happens when you have 8 billion people, three of them probably think every possible thought.
-1
u/ShupTruck 1d ago
Like I said to another commenter: I never claimed it wasn't a strawman, I claimed it was a minority that is vocal enough to warrant a comic like this that targets a specific type of person
If this comic doesn't apply to you and "isn't happening", then I don't know why you'd be offended.
2
u/Gatonom 1d ago
I'm not offended.
The comic says by implication 'It's a common experience that queer people promote a lot of days for different identities and sexualities but get upset about one religious holiday."
This is inaccurate and is intended to make this group look bad, and I oppose lying to make people look bad.
1
u/ShupTruck 1d ago
It's a common experience
Nobody ever said that. The implication that it's common isn't even there. You made that up as an excuse to oppose it.
In reality this comic only really features one person, not multiple. I believe you imposing the idea that it's generalizing despite clearly being about a specific type of individual that unfortunately happens to share your views
-2
u/DoofusIdiot 1d ago
I work for a very liberal minded state agency (not an insult, I am too).
But anyways, yes, I’ve seen personally people become offended by Christmas wishes.
-1
u/ShupTruck 1d ago
Yes it's very strange.
I mean I of course assume it's a very very small subset of people but I'd imagine they are vocal enough to have an artist make a comic like this.
-5
u/Organic_Education494 1d ago
It has happened far too often
Thats why most companies say happy holidays.
We aren’t allowed to have a culture because of crying minorities. 3 of my jobs even had an annual reminder that there would be disciplinary action if we said merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays.
Cant piss off the one freak that hates Christmas for no reason
2
u/_Chirio_ 1d ago
'Happy holidays' is including Christmas, new years, hanukkah, all the holidays that happen around that time. It's more inclusive.
I'm not sure why being inclusive is so wrong? It's nothing against Christmas, as Christmas is included in the holidays.
-2
u/Organic_Education494 1d ago
Oh get off it with the inclusion bs. If I as an employee can get disciplinary action for saying merry Christmas most definitely not about inclusion anymore.
I get that is tied to the company but it stems from people like those pictured in this meme. For some reason a ton of people can’t handle words without crying.
Ohh noo my inclusive language isn’t being followed by everyone! Must cry! Stop it

I’ve literally never seen someone get upset at being told Merry Christmas. It’s the right wing fundamentalists who get upset when you don’t tell them Merry Christmas.
