Also, there's nothing that impressive about a jumping stunt car. There is no practical use of it, and if it's not already illegal for road use, it should be. It's goof for promotional stunts and professional daredevils only.

I mean, isn’t that just a shell that he jumped? It was pretty much just a stunt drone, correct? There’s nothing about it except for the shape.

Absolutely a shell RC. Probably had most of its batteries removed as well. If this was anything more than a publicity stunt, they would have shown the interior and given a tour of the build. We would have seen a driver get out of the car, too. And this will never see a roadway with a dozen high pressure canisters stashed away in all the crash impact zones.

I told my husband it was basically a magic show. It’s all an illusion.

Yeah, electric car engines are usually even heavier than gas powered engines, no way in hell a full electric car is getting airborne like that.

That I don't know. It could in theory be done with a real car. Daredevils and stunt drivers have done worse.

Everyone here keeps saying that but there's zero proof. We saw it drive, we saw it stick to a (beyond) vertical wall. It definitely has car parts (drive unit, battery) and the fan system (which requires a hefty battery). It's possible (likely) they used a cut-down battery and stripped interior to reduce weight.

As an engineer, it's absolutely impressive, and absolutely useless (as anything other than a neat demo)

Nothing? I’d love to know what you do for a living that find this not impressive. I know it isnt solving world hunger, or anything else plaguing society, but its impressive, and inconceivable by pretty recent standards.

The tech for the car is at least 50 years old. Cold thrusters and vaccuum suctioned cars to help stick to the road. Just no ones really probably thought it was important to make

-8

u/East-Inevitable-3974 7h ago

So you could do it?

7

u/catwhowalksbyhimself 7h ago

That's irrelevant. The point is that many people have been able to do stuff like this for decades. It's not some innovative tech. It's just a cool stunt, like thousands of other cool car stunts.

I can't do heart surgery either, but that doesn't mean a hospital is doing anything new or impressive when one of its doctors does a heart surgery in the sense he's created something. The individual surgeon might be very skilled and praiseworthy and the fact it's possible to save lives this way is pretty cool, but it doesn't make the surgeon or the hospital any more special than any other than can do the same thing.

And that's the point. People are acting like this jumping car is the pinnacle of technology when it's nothing new at all.

-1

u/East-Inevitable-3974 6h ago

Are you going to criticize ppl that do heart surgery because its unoriginal? I still think thats pretty impressive too!

3

u/catwhowalksbyhimself 6h ago

Yes is is impressive and no I'm not criticising it.

My point is that your "so you could do it" arugument is irrelevant. I can't build a Model T Ford either. It doesn't make a Model T Ford the latest in technology.

-1

u/East-Inevitable-3974 6h ago

Its not the pinnacle of technology. Its also not unimpressive. Thats all im saying. You guys are all so butt hurt about politics to call a spade a spade

3

u/catwhowalksbyhimself 6h ago

And this meme is claiming it IS the pinnacle of technology and not just a stunt.

It is a cool stunt? Sure. You don't see that every day. But it's not new or impressive technology. It's an impressive stunt, but the tech behind it is old and well understood.

1

u/East-Inevitable-3974 6h ago

Replicate it then

3

u/catwhowalksbyhimself 6h ago

I am not an engineer, so that is an irrevelevant question. I can't build a Model T Ford either, and it's obsolete tech.

u/RefrigeratorOk7848 7h ago

Have you ever been a critic of a movie? Game?

-6

u/East-Inevitable-3974 7h ago

Not really

8

u/RefrigeratorOk7848 7h ago

Complete lie lmao. Got John neutral over here.

u/IncreaseOld7112 6h ago

With a controlling stake in Tesla? Yeah, I do believe I could take credit for what the R&D organization produces.

1

u/Inevitable-Quality-9 4h ago

Yes I 100% could given the budget he spent. Mine would be real life not some shitty ai video though.

1

u/East-Inevitable-3974 4h ago

If its all ai, then fuck that guy… thats unimpressive

8

u/EricPhilps1979 7h ago

It's just a shell of a 'futuristic looking' car with thrusters stuck to it.  Someone could have built that in the 1980s, but it would have been stupid and pointless then, too, so nobody did.

Just more PT Barnum antics from a man whose chief skill is in getting credulous investors hooked and then jumping on to the next big flashy thing just before anyone realises the last one is never going to happen.

5

u/Aggressive-Stand-585 7h ago

Ok. What practical application would you say it has? Do you seriously think this is gonna be something you use to jump over traffic or something? You do think that don't you? Lmao.

0

u/East-Inevitable-3974 7h ago

No i dont think any of it is practical, but theres no way given a lifetime, I could make one.

6

u/Aggressive-Stand-585 7h ago

Do you think Elon invented this? Or electric cars? Or started the Tesla car company?

1

u/East-Inevitable-3974 7h ago

No

5

u/Aggressive-Stand-585 7h ago

Okay. So if he's not the one who invented it, why are you giving him the credit?

-1

u/East-Inevitable-3974 7h ago

Im just pointing out somebody that has never did anything noteworthy, is saying theres nothing impressive about a streetcar that can do a barrel roll. I find it impressive. I cant believe im in the minority

3

u/ChakaCake 6h ago

Not any of us are a team of people with billions of dollars backing them working every day for a decade on this for near nothing. If you wanna impress me do something thats gonna help the majority of people in america

0

u/East-Inevitable-3974 6h ago

Do you do anything that benefits the majority of Americans?

They did build it tho

5

u/Aggressive-Stand-585 7h ago

No he didn't. He bought himself into the company and then made him the leader of it. He didn't build or invent shit lmao. He just used his money to put himself into the position.

If I spent 500 billion to buy 5000 people saying I was God, you'd consider me God and be really impressed or what? Lmao.

1

u/East-Inevitable-3974 7h ago

If u fed those 5000 with a few loaves of bread and a couple fish, and had leftovers, you may have a point.

3

u/Sweet_Check4232 7h ago

Basically this thing in a car looking chassis with wheels. Next time he will strap a rocket onto a Cybertruck and the fanboys will be gasping “inconceivable” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lnpOEDqzkVk

3

u/catwhowalksbyhimself 7h ago

I mean it's impressive in the sense that it looks cool, but people have been done stunts like this with cars for longer than I've been alive, and I'm 46. Its nothing innovative or new is what I should have said.
