MAGA NEWS FLASH! Elon didn't make the car; he directed intelligent people to make it.

Beavis and Butthead could have come up with the idea over a joint on their cartoon couch, starting with "If I were a billionaire, I'd make a flying car, hehehe, hehehe, yeah, that would be cool..."

fElon got one of those toy RC geckos that stick to the wall and said "let's make that life size and put boosters on it so when it falls it won't crash!"

The billionaire intelligence of a five year old.

Yes, and it's arguably dumb. Pretty cool engineering feat, amazing to watch, and I would have never thought I'd see a car doing a perfect flip, go 180° in a pipe, or jump using cold gas thrusters. I'm sure Elon"s ketamine addled brain had all to do with it (/a).

But it is also inconsequential for Tesla. This has literally zero practical application and won't go into a car any customer can buy - ever. I pity the sods that fork out money only to be as disappointed as all the gullible fools reserving a Roadster - what is it now? - 16 years(?) ago.

Don't believe me? Just go and check what size of gas tanks you need for this stt!

Right, and it's not even his idea; he stole the "suction to the ground" idea from the makers of the McMurtry Spéirling. They achieved that feat over a year ago.

Reminds me of Ali G telling Trump about his brilliant business idea to create a hoverboard. "Has you ever seen Back to the Future?"

I consider Elon like Trump. Masters of market and media manipulation.

They are incredibly good at it. But at the same time this can come across as dumb - especially if you look at past performance. But it’s not you they are targeting.

Some people just min / max at different things, and maxing in marketing has been shown to be one of the best ways to get rich.

There are lot of examples of people who are dumb as rocks technically but become billionaires through this model.

Elizabeth Holmes is probably the prime example. Literally became a temporary billionaire from a product that physically couldn’t exist.

Sam Altman also comes to mind - able to convince the world to spend trillions of dollars.

This skill is perfect for CEOs where funding and hype dominate stock price in the modern era. There are a ton of these CEOs, depending on what the company produces - marketing yourself might be biggest product.

Some companies are built off the hype of the products themselves - like Apple. Others are built on the products they claim to be able to make - and they continually move the goal posts to the next big thing as soon as the current thing isn’t hypeable or politically towards a theoretical future rather than what gets done today.

Even if he did, this technology is extremely stupid to use in a real environment. People are gonna get badly injured and killed.

This is just a performance. There's nothing useful or usable in this product.
