Stuttgart Aufenthaltstitel waiting times

Hi everyone,

I came to Germany on October 1, 2025, with a student visa and applied for my first student residence permit in Stuttgart in March 2026, before my visa expired in April.

Since April, I’ve had a Fiktionsbescheinigung under § 81 Abs. 4, valid until April 2027, but I still haven’t received my residence permit card or heard anything about an appointment.

It’s been over 7 months now and I’m starting to get a bit worried.

Has anyone who applied in Stuttgart around the same time received their card yet?

Also, does anyone know if the time spent in Germany with a Fiktionsbescheinigung (§81 Abs. 4) counts towards the 5 years required for German citizenship? I know that a student residence permit isn’t enough for naturalisation itself, but does the time spent as a student still count towards the 5 years?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been in a similar situation. Thanks!

The question is: why they gave you a Fiktionsbescheinigung for 1 year? Are you sure you will revive an Aufenthaltstitel? They told you that?

I went there in august, I reveived a Fiktionsbescheinigung for just 3 months, just the time my Aufenthaltstitel arrives. It arrives after 2 weeks.

I know some people who have been there this yea r and all of them received a Fiktionsbescheinigung for 3 months and the Aufenthaltstitel arrived very fast. So I'm thinking its weird that you have a Fiktionsbescheinigung for 1 year.

No, I finished my Ausbildung here and I applied for a specialist work visa. Before that I had the Ausbildung Aufenthaltstitel .

Are you sure you will then receive the Aufenthaltstitel? They told you really that?
