[Dellenger] The Sun Belt adopted new exit fees this week, increasing the exit amount from $5 million to a range of $8-18 million that is determined through the notification date of departure, sources tell @YahooSports . A 27-month or more notice is an $8M fee and it escalates from there.

I wonder if there is going to be an exception for schools dropping down to FCS-looking at you ULM

It would almost certainly be waived. A team dropping down to the FCS is almost certainly one that is a below-conference average school and drags down the value per school of future media deals.

There are non football schools that have larger athletic budgets than ULM.

I doubt if a school LEAVES for FCS that they would be required to pay the exit fee. It's focused on teams leaving for another FBS conference.

This is so dumb. The conference is just going to continue to die.

What are you talking about? Every conference has exit fee penalties. IMO, the exit fee should start at $10M and go up.

Yeah but voting to raise it immediately after your best member says they’re leaving is pussy shit. The Sun Belt is, and forever will be, a poverty conference.

JMU expedited its exit precisely because the exit fee increase was in the works. If you knew that information and were already planning to move, why wouldn't you take the discount?

Honestly already should have been this for stability
