Taurine + Glycine, just wow...

I know the hype around magnesium glycinate but to be honest it does nothing for my sleep even at 400mg.
Lately been trying taurine morning and evening 1g each, no effects, but since added glycine 3g before bed, i never had this kind of deep sleep before, ridiculous, to the point i thought i took some benozs or something, i may have to tone it down but happy with the results, i highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't get the juice from magnesium like me.

2.5 months on Ashawaghanda

• Upvotes

I was a homebody but this pill really took me out of the house. I started dieting and walking 7k steps 4 times a week although 10k is my goal sometimes I meet. Ngl.. sometimes it feels like torture on my walks but something in me tells me just complete it. 2 more weeks and I will cycle off Ash. I absolutely love taking supplements.. I keep a journal to see my process and any changes I have made. Aside from that I take other supplements and I have initiated goals... Currently studying for an exam... People complain that they don't see any changes... Well I sure got anxious my first week on Ash but it was a kind that forced me out of the house which I did and it was amazing once I stepped out. Ever since it's been a bliss.. sometimes I still want to stay in bed but I have a schedule to follow usually work gets me up. Anyway your body needs to adjust to the supplements, don't expect overnight changes.

Experience Careful with answers here. Wish I discovered algae omegas sooner.

• Upvotes

I couldn’t tolerate regular fish oil, I would always get headaches, agitation, anxiety ect. I believe it’s the histamine.

However there are people here who always said the reason fish oil causes those symptoms is “high acetylcholine”….

So I decided to go down that route and test it. I bought forskolin because it supposedly reduces it. Worse idea ever. These brain chemicals aren’t really to be messed with. Got panic attacks and insomnia for a week from just taking it a few times.

Finally discovered algae omegas and what a game changer. They feel amazing I feel all the benefits without any side effects! I’m willing to pay more to get something that works without the the issues of dealing with rancid pills ect from fish.

Tldr, people are wrong that said acetyl is high… at least in my case, because it got proved by taking omegas that are not derived from fish…

Pure citrulline with magnesium malate separately

• Upvotes

Been taking citrulline malate in pills. Ditching the pills for powder as recommended from others here. I am thinking of buying lbs citrulline powder no malate then supplement the malate with magnesium malate in pill form every once in a while like before a workout or big activity. Would there be any benefit or drawback to this?

General Question What’s one supplement this sub has completely backwards?

Every magnesium discussion here turns into a war. Someone swears glycinate fixed their sleep, the next person says it made them feel like shit. Creatine, fish oil, ashwagandha, same story.

I’ve spent months testing and changing my own stack, and one thing I don’t buy anymore is the idea that a supplement works the same way for everyone.
So which supplement do you think people here are completely wrong about? Something everyone swears by that you think is overrated, or something that gets trashed for no good reason?

I’m interested in what you’ve actually experienced, not what somebody on a podcast promised.

Does flat walking for 30 to 45 minutes effective enough for stubborn body fat burning with the supplement during a fast? I've heard in the past you need to do a slow jog or high incline walking for Zone 2 cardio

Can I get recs for Liquid Vitamin D or a Vitamin D gummy/chewable

I know everyone shits on gummy Vitamin D because of the sugar and additives but I have major trouble swallowing pills (throat tightness and blocked nose when swallowing) but I’m deficient and am experiencing a host of issues that I’m unsure are due to my actual deficiency but I’ve haven’t treated my deficiency because I only have been able to see pills and they’re just too hard for me and yes I’ve tried every technique, I just think it shouldn’t take an hour for 1 supplement.

Just any that get the job done I don’t care about taste I can down anything as long as I know it will help me.

Multi-strain probiotic intervention in adults with depressive and anxiety symptoms: A 12-Week pilot study

Thumbnail pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
3 Upvotes

Abstract

Depressive and anxiety symptoms prevalent in major depressive disorder (MDD), that affects millions globally, with many patients showing incomplete response to standard treatments. This open-label pilot study evaluated the effects of a 12-week multi-strain probiotic supplementation on depressive and anxiety symptoms in 30 adults with depressive and anxiety symptoms (e.g., MDD, adjustment disorder, anxiety disorders). Participants received a daily capsule for eight weeks containing 11 bacterial strains (9.8 billion CFU), including Bifidobacterium animalis ssp. Lactis Lafti B94 (5 billion CFU) and Lactobacillus rhamnosus RO-11 (1.9 billion CFU). Outcomes were assessed using the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS), Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A), Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale (GAD-7), and Clinical Global Impression (CGI) scale at baseline, 4, 8, and 12 weeks following treatment. The intervention was well-tolerated, with minor gastrointestinal side effects in 10% of participants. Significant reductions were observed in HDRS (22.47 ± 6.95 to 8.83 ± 5.32, p < 0.01), HAM-A (32.27 ± 11.18 to 13.09 ± 10.49, p < 0.01), GAD-7 (15.33 ± 4.21 to 6.87 ± 5.37, p < 0.01), and CGI (4.53 ± 0.94 to 3.00 ± 1.65, p < 0.01) scores. Of note, females, participants with tertiary education, and married individuals showed greater improvements. The substantial reductions in these scores suggest probiotics may contribute in the reduction of depressive and anxiety symptoms, potentially via the microbiota-gut-brain axis, supporting further investigation in larger, controlled trials.

Experience Nothing helps me sleep - paradoxical reactions

Hi all
Trying to figure out why I get these paradoxical reactions.
My body gets super hot all night and my mind is alert and unable to enter deep sleep. It feels like simply my eyes are closed but I’m not 100% fully asleep.

This happened to me when I took:

magnesium (specifically
BioCeuticals Ultra Muscleze Night which has magnesium amino acid chelate (UltraMag®), including magnesium glycinate. The manufacturer describes it as a proprietary blend of chelated magnesium forms.) also had bad digestive discomfort.

Alertness and body heat effect also happened to me last night when I tried HERBS OF GOLD SAFFRON MOOD BALANCE which has Crocus sativus (Saffron) stigma extract (from Affron®) 15mg derived from dry stigma 45mg Melissa officinalis (Lemon balm) herb extract 30mg derived from dry herb 1.5g.

Melatonin also doesn’t help at all.

What is wrong with me and why does my body react this way to supplements that are supposed to relax me? So over it 😫

Experience Feeling Hot….

I started Magnesium L-Threonate 145 mg and Ubiquinol 100 mg about 2 weeks ago. All has been fine. Today I added D3 (125 MCG) + K2 ( 100 MCG) and about an hour after taking the D3+ K2, I’m getting hot flashes. Yes I am already in Menopause and have been for 10 plus years and I rarely ever get Hot Flashes from the
Menopause anymore. Any have any insight? I am new to the supplement world.

Edit for auto correct spelling errors.

General Question Am i overdosing zinc?

I’ve been taking these 50 mg zinc tablets daily for 7 months and ive recently found out that the recommended daily amount is 13 mg and 40 mg is the maximum. I immediately stoped taking them and im worried i might have a copper deficiency. But it says 50 mg of zinc gluconate on the bottle, which is 14% elemental zinc. So have i been overdosing zinc or is it fine since only 14% is actually bioavailable?

this is the specific supplement i’ve been taking

also if i have been overdosing zinc, should i see a doctor and get bloodwork done or is stopping the overdose enough?
