On the positive side, you can soon say that you were a fan before <current singer> joined the band. It's a NW fan's right of passage. Welcome to the fanbase!
I know that feeling; I found Nightwish in 2010 during Annette's time. Never got to see her live, even though I loved her in Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum.
I did see Floor twice, and that was really good and made up for some of it. I hope for you the next singer is also going to be really good and will make it up somewhat for you.
Floor will still be doing solo tours and there's a good chance she will still perform some classics like Phantom of the Opera. But a little less metal, perhaps.
Though I very much recognise your feeling of missing out. I've been there, too. Many if not most of the fanbase has been, by this point.
I became a fan just before Tarja left, in 2005. I was 13 so obviously I would never have been able to see them live. On the flipside, I did see Anette in 2009, just before going as an exchange student to Finland for a year. And she was actually much better live than I thought she'd be, her own spin on the old Nightwish songs was actually surprisingly good.
I haven't listened to them since they unceremoniously dumped her though, so I can't call myself a fan anymore exactly, even though Floor is an excellent singer.
I would have had the chance to see Tarja and Marko perform together in Spain this February, had tickets, flights, accommodation, but one of my cats got severely ill the night before and I had to cancel everything so now it'll never happen lol

As a newer fan who never got the chance to see them with her I am taking this particularly hard.
