Politics Should Chips Mayai be recognised by UNESCO

I mean officially certified as a national cultural asset . I suspect our Noisy Neigbours šŸ‡°šŸ‡Ŗ are waiting to claim it as their own .

Not by UNESCO because I don't think it was a thing even in the 1960s so NO! but should be recognised as a Tanzanian thingyy: YES!!

It's Spanish food, called tortilla Espanola or Spanish omelette, you can Google it, we didn't invent it.

They share minor similarities but they aren't the same . Stop the cap.

It's same thing, you think there is only one variety of Spanish omelette? Even chips Yai dont have single variety.Ā

Don't be lazy just go Google search Spanish omelette then choose images you can see different types in images then tell me if it's not chips Yai.

They aren't the same. Usually Spanish omelette is served at room temperature in thick slices. Usually they are made with very thinly sliced and fried potatoes and sometimes onions, and cooked much, much slower.

Both are great in their own way.

You are talking like it's single recipe with strict cooking method which is wrong I will give you evidence that it's same thing.Ā

  1. Some use onion some don't, evidence hereĀ  https://www.reddit.com/r/askspain/comments/uvhu18/what_can_a_spanish_omelette_be_filled_with/

  2. Some fry potato first and they use thick slice some don't and use thin slice evidence hereĀ  https://www.reddit.com/r/AskCulinary/comments/15a669l/how_to_create_the_perfect_spanish_potato_tortilla/

As someone from coastal area in Tanzania even chips mayai started with thin slice in Tanzania, and we use oven to cook it slowly, but because of fast food demand and many small business lack modern tools people opt for fast mathod of making it.
