Hey! I get you - finding whimsy goth / indie / alt in Tanzania is hard but not impossible.
Here’s where to look:
- Instagram stores (best option): Search @thrifted_tz, @mitumba_chic, @dar_thrift_store, @alt.tz - they often have goth, indie, y2k pieces. Just DM them your style.
- Kariakoo / Mitumba markets: In Dar, Kariakoo and Manzese mitumba have a lot of Shein-like, indie and black lace / mesh tops if you dig well. In Mbeya/Arusha also ask for "mavazi ya kike ya black".
- If you want Shein itself: Use Shein app - they now deliver to TZ via DHL (7-15 days). Or use agents on Instagram: search "Shein TZ agent" - they order for you.
- Local tailors: Show them Pinterest pics - many can make whimsy goth skirts/dresses cheaply.
Hope this helps! If you're in Dar I can share 2 specific shops I know.
