Best task... where the time kept running UNTIL they were in the studio?

I feel like I always see the same tasks highlighted, so I'm going to see if we can get some more variety w/ hyper specific criteria...

So my favorite task where the timer was still running when they got back to the studio was from TM: AU where Nina Oyama thought she sunk the bowling ball and walked off like a champ...lol

79D later... https://youtu.be/5xcqoL4Kb4o?t=798

TM:NZ hide the body which Chris Parker brings in as a prize task

Legendary moment. Josh Thomson was damn great that series, but that task made Chris the people's champion.

Josh Thompson, for me, produced two of the most memorable Taskmaster quotes of all time:

"If you want drama, kick a woman in half"

and

"If we aren't violent to people in wheelchairs then what is... do they have no place in society?!"

One of the greatest TM moments of all time. Love that entire series.

72 days and 6 minutes!
I think this has to be the longest time.

12

u/HomerunHarry 2d ago

Nope, just watched Dai in NZ:S4 take 92 days to snap the pencil. 😂

1

u/making_sammiches 2d ago

Oh wow! That is impressive!

Emma Holland in the hide the Van Key task went for either 82 or 84 days

u/making_sammiches 2d ago

Thank you! Another impressive time!

NZ series 2 where they had to make a spout or something float the longest, and Laura Daniels stayed afloat in water right through.

And David Correos removed Guy Montgomery's spout and threw it aside when he needed some water.

This is my favourite of these precisely because of David, I think it's the only task where time ended during the task itself, during another task, and during the studio.

11

u/Davidellias Phil Ellis 2d ago

In back to back tasks, David climbed in the rafters after a balloon and drank sun screen. Yet he wasn't the one to get a task canceled.

8

u/LemonyLime_bitters Tom Cashman 🇦🇺 2d ago

And Ursula broke a bone and the task still wasn’t cancelled

u/burf12345 🚬 Doctor Cigarettes 2d ago

Do we even know what David did for that task? Or did he never even get it because Guy went before him and got the whole thing axed?

7

u/nahchannah Mathew Baynton 2d ago

And the way he was so perplexed at the lack of closure midway

I feel like someone put together an edit of every time we saw the buckets in the background and it was excellent

1

u/faa19 Mark Watson 1d ago

I rewatched recently and they snuck the bucket in a couple of E1 shots, they really committed to showing how long it was there.

My favorite season to TM anywhere.

"I want to announce that as of today, I'm a vegan." - Asim Chaudry

18

u/readzalot1 2d ago

Asim was so bold and creative with this. What a guy!

18

u/Alizarik7891 2d ago

I think this counts, right? The time was running until the task actually happened in studio after another episode or two.

-4

u/ecchi83 2d ago

But that wasn't a timed task...

11

u/Alizarik7891 2d ago

They had 12 weeks....which is a form of time limit, lol.

-9

u/ecchi83 2d ago

lol... 1 point.

It didn't exactly last until the studio because he gave up and forfeited, but Joel's attempt on the 'Release Tom from the Box' task in TMAU S5 was amazing, with it continuing through multiple subsequent tasks and episodes. Great running gag.

u/ecchi83 2d ago

I wish I could edit the prompt bc I should've made it tasks that extended past the initial segment. I'm blanking on one where a contestant emptied like a cup of water (?) from a different contestant from a previous task.

Flot a sprout from S2E2 of TM NZ?

Series 15, Timer is still running for Frankie Boyle to place a neat ball of string on that cushion.

TMNZ season 3, hide the body. It's the task that made Chris Parker a TM legend. He not only found the obvious loophole of not needing to keep the body on the premises, but he kept fucking with Paul right until the studio record where he brought Sacky as the prize task for Paul to reveal.

11

u/ROJJ86 2d ago

And only got one point for it. He should have received extra points after the reveal which is a hill I will d ie on.

8

u/UniversalJampionshit Crying Bastard 2d ago

He got 2 points for the prize, but yeah

1

u/burf12345 🚬 Doctor Cigarettes 2d ago

I suspect he didn't want to make the case because he already got the 5 points for doing the task wet.

24

u/Titeman 2d ago

AU season 3 where Concetta glued objects to the caravan ceiling. 78 days+ in studio…

16

u/ecchi83 2d ago

Lol... And then they showed the other contestants later pointing there were already things on the ceiling.

21

u/MasonP2002 2d ago

I don't recall if it made it all the way until the studio recordings, but Hugh Dennis unplugging the treadmill and leaving the basketball on it indefinitely.

20

u/UniversalJampionshit Crying Bastard 2d ago

Until a storm blew it off the treadmill, at least in TM kayfabe

1

u/AbbreviationsTop4959 21h ago

At which point it had been months.

15

u/ThogBad Alex Horne 2d ago

"Unravel the ball of string" from S15, where Frankie never realized that there was a second "place a ball of string on the pillow" part of the task until the studio recordings and ended up with a time of months.

5

u/Davidellias Phil Ellis 2d ago

Weirdly the exact thing happened in the Dutch version, but to two people

4

u/-SQB- ☔ umbrella 🌂 2d ago

And one of them won fourth place over the other, since the other ran off in search of a ball of string while the Taskmaster produced one mere seconds later, which the first one proceeded to place on the pillow.

I just rewatched that episode last night and this was the one i was thinking of!

Emma Holland and the van keys. Tried to throw them out the van (badly) at the start, and then managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat

1

u/burf12345 🚬 Doctor Cigarettes 2d ago

I really thought she was screwed after that initial throw, her save while Tom was looking was brilliant.

27

u/Fuckspez42 Stevie Martin 2d ago

Lose the van keys.

2

u/BLRNerd 2d ago

I would’ve drove right off with it

10

u/burf12345 🚬 Doctor Cigarettes 2d ago

That's what Hughes did, but he brought it back when he was done with his tasks.

9

u/JP198364839 2d ago

Hayley Sproul and throw the ball in the bin. Slowest wins.

7

u/Ged_UK Mae Martin 2d ago

Doesn't quite meet the criteria because a storm intervened, but Desky's basketball would have still been on the treadmill.

6

u/ms_congeniality 2d ago

TM New Zealand S5E7 - Hayley Sproull

The contestants had to decipher the phonetic alphabetic to get the task:  Construct A Paper Plane And Take It To The Balcony. Scrunch It Up And Throw It In The Bin. Fastest Loses.

Tofiga did a great job because he waited until the end of filming (69 days - nice) but Hayley won because she brought her paper plans to the studio, where she had Paul bring the bin on stage (101 days).

3

u/GlennSWFC Mike Wozniak 2d ago

There were a couple in TM Australia, both going in the opposite direction. One was longest wins, the other was quickest wins.

In series 3 the task to hide the keys was still running for Emma because Tom hadn’t found them by the time of the studio recordings.

In series 1 they had to sink a bowling ball quickest, Nina dumped hers in the lake and turned around expecting it to sink and not realising it floated.

1

u/ecchi83 2d ago

Lol ... I love Nina bc of her certainty that she nailed a task and just walking off while the timer was still running. She would have had another one in the books if she didn't walk into Tom telling her her task wasn't done

Just watched TMNZ S7E2 and Dave Fane didn't do what the tapes told him to until the studio record: 109 days 4 hours 47 minutes & 29 seconds.
