Unsolved How does NYC handle accrual for conversions of RSUs to common stock

Hello,

I work at a private company that has an upcoming (mid-November) conversion from double-trigger RSUs to common stock. I have time-vested the majority of the shares.

I plan on moving to NJ later this month. Mainly because of personal reasons, but I would hope to avoid New York City tax, though I'm concerned that under the accrual rule these would be considered as NYC sourced income.

The key distinction is the board has already approved removal of the liquidity-trigger condition, but the conversion will only happen in mid-November. If I were to move by end of month, could accrual rules throw a wrench?

Obviously as far as the federal government mid-November is when the taxable event will occur, but curious if NYC might disagree.

Will you still be working for the same company in NY?
