The big issue with my Squier Debut Telecaster-
- is that it has me infatuated with Telecasters at the moment. As a guy that’s been almost purely humbucker and hated the glassy sound of strats, I’m shocked at the range this $150 guitar has. I might have to look into a used mim fender at some point.

What does "sell all those other guitars" mean?

One of my best guitars is a MIM Vintera II 60s Tele. It’s extremely versatile, and I love the neck and tones.

My first ever tele was the first gen Vintera modified 60s tele in LPB. What a great neck. I named it Revelation Blues.
Eventually I replaced the body with a very light chambered Warmoth body. Migrated all the hardware and electronics to it. Then I got a chunky AllParts neck and replaced the neck pickup with a firebird minihum. Gradually replaced the hardware and ditched the bridge pickup entirely.
I still call that guitar Revelation Blues but I’ve considered renaming it Thesius.

Maybe 20 years ago, I got a beat up knock off es335. Totally fell in love with it although I’ve always kind of played Fenders. Maybe a year later, I bought a used Gibson 335 which I liked very much and played for five or six years. I ended up selling the 335 and keeping the knock off, which now has custom P90s, new bridge saddles, and a few other tweaks.

I have the black model I modded for fun and learning. I put in a LaBrea neck and ‘63 Custom in bridge, Mojo tone 250k harness (open box discount), threw on a set of cheap locking tuners and a roller string tree from Musiclily, polished the frets, conditioned the fret board. Metal dome knobs in smoke color (again cheap). Top hat switch cap. NYXL 10’s. I love the thinner body and lighter weight. It’s a real joy to play!

My player 1 Mexican Tele isy my favorite guitar I own. I love a TS into a distortion on the bridge pick-up. So nasty sounding

If you always lean humbuckers but like the sounds you're getting from the tele, I recommend putting some Seymour Duncan quarter pounds in there. One of the best gear moves I've made. They get you even closer to P90s without losing the character. Wired it with a push-pull coil tap and a four-way switch for series/parallel. Won't ice pick anymore, but the range gets closer to les paul territory while still being able to do the tele thing.

Teles have the beefiest single coils (besides p90s) you can get.
