We should include that Eckhardt is actually qualified for the job. Huffines is a part of the Epstein class, that's his only qualification and why Abbott loves him.

He hires his buddies, whom are contractors, who then inflate the price of the renovations in order to line their pockets. All the contractor has to buy is new carpet, some decorations, and a lot of tacky gold spray paint.

So many of our state buildings are old and in various states of disrepair and even a $1 million dollar renovation on a single building would be a game changer. You could improve a lot more workers conditions with $3 million, but sure let’s use it to renovate the Comptroller’s private bathroom.

When I worked in a state office it hadn't been renovated in like 30 years and truly showed its age. Multiple people got caught in the ancient elevators. Nobody wanted to be the one to put office renovations in the budget with their name attached, they actually did take taxpayer money seriously.
