OPINION I recently discover this Gary Usher instrumentals to Brian

Post image

It sounds really good, some members of the wrecking crew participated on this and Is really sad that hadn't been released in 1970, Gary really want it to help his childhood friend to feel better with himself.

Gary is one of the most interesting guys in the whole history of the group, imo. This album is great.

Because he was both involved with Brian at the very beginning of his career and at a critical juncture in the 80s, so has two pretty wildly different perspectives on him. Gary’s own career is also very interesting.

Right. He seems quite neglected by the public, doesn't he?

I don’t think his commercial instincts were always sound (especially after the 1960s) but he definitely had a unique vision that should’ve been taken more seriously.

I think his early death, prior to a chance to have a reappraisal, definitely hurt his visibility

Gary Usher is very often under appreciated in the bands history and very underrated, if not totally disrespected

Those 2 Byrds albums he produced were excellent too.
