I came across pictures of a bookstore built into a massive sinkhole in China, and I IMMEDIATELY knew I had to share them here!! Then, while looking into it more, I discovered ANOTHER library built into a sinkhole in China that’s just as reminiscent of Mallworld. 😭
The enormous scale, the lighting, the seemingly endless bookshelves, the winding staircases, the multiple levels, and especially the fact that they’re built into these massive underground spaces are SO similar to places I’ve experienced in Mallworld.
I’ve never dreamed of the first bookstore specifically, but I’ve definitely been to places that looked and felt incredibly similar. The SECOND library though? I genuinely freaked out when I saw it. I’ve been somewhere almost EXACTLY like that in my Mallworld dreams. The architecture, the spiral staircases, the lighting, the entire atmosphere. it’s honestly kinda insane how closely it resembles a place I remember being at in Mallworld 🤯
And I think that’s what makes these pictures so special to me. It’s not just the visual similarities, but the way they so perfectly capture that very specific, almost unexplainable feeling that’s completely unique to Mallworld. Ifykyk
I know there’s been a lot of discussion here lately about AI-generated references, so finding actual real world locations that capture the atmosphere this closely was INSANE to me. Both of these places are real, and there are published articles and photographs documenting them! (I added some sources at the bottom so you can do your own research if interested!)
I haven’t seen either of these shared here before, and I genuinely couldn’t wait to show you guys. I’m SO curious whether anyone else gets that same familiar feeling looking at these pictures, or if you’ve dreamed of somewhere similar!! Feel free to tell me anything that comes to mind when seeing these pics! I love chatting with people who I can genuinely relate to when it comes to Mallworld. I can’t wait to hear what you guys have to say about this one!!
For anyone curious, these are the names & sources of both locations in China!-
