At this point, I would feel more comfortable if Roblox was restricted to under 18 only. I have an immediate distrust of any adult saying they play Roblox.

Literally the only adults that should be on Roblox are those playing with their own kids and with close relatives such as their own nieces and nephews.
No kid should come in contact with a random adult.
There are way too many creeps on roblox, and kids should be banned from talking to anyone who isn't in their verified safe corner
The problem is though it the leadership and dev team seems to have a disproportionate number of creeps

Don't disagree for the most part - But a few months ago I got talking to one of my friends kids, they'd turned 18 not long back and he was chatting about getting a job and what to do.
Turns out he'd had a nice little sideline in making stuff on Roblox for a few years (he said what but I didn't understand properly) and was already not doing badly for what he said wasn't a lot of work.
Be a shame to take that kind of enterprise off young ones just because they hit a number.
Maybe if you had an account from the right age you could keep it, or something - Just thought it was kinda cool he was making beer money from it.

Agreed but with the online safety laws being the way they are that is going to be difficult to police.
I know the only safety act has nothing to do with safety.

im 27 and roblox has existed since i was 7. i still play it as roblox has lots of fun word puzzle games (and it’s all free). dont blame the adults for playing a game that they’ve played since they were also a child, blame the parents that let their children have unsupervised access to the internet.

On the face of it yes it sounds reasonable but in reality it’s a facade in order to roll out more legislation that imposes government control over how people use the internet.
Age verification is wildly ineffective and not fit for purpose.

This should really be the parents' responsibility, not the governments. People should be educated on responsible use of tech with children. I was never allowed access to online gaming and voice chat until I was in my very late teens when I was deemed old enough. Worked for me.

its only high profile games. Nobody ever talks about stuff like Adventure Quest being at fault. Although the playerbase is full of oldheads too

Good. My preteen step son had creepy bastards trying to get him to self harm. Said she was same age as him. I walked past his room. Rule was to do all audio on speakers and I heard it. Bad shit

ive been playing on fortnite since i was 12. ive been bullied and verbally abused and now have complex ptsd from it. its sad when i hear children getting put down by grown men and they sound so distressed. parents, it is that deep.

Lol im literally in a mental hospital rn stfu. I have experienced real trauma, I have literally been sa'd and the bullying was hundreds of times which counts as cyberbullying. Think before you type bullshit
I was called slurs and harrasswd and recieved misogyny it wasnt just people shouting at me for not picking up guns which was partially but also children are sensitive

I’m sorry you had to go through SA, it’s part of the reason I called you out about cyber bullying causing complex ptsd. I know trauma shouldn’t be compared here, but I’ve been through serious cyber bullying myself and would never put it on the traumas playing field when one can log out/ put their device down.

cyberbullying is still bullying just because its behind a screen doesnt change children hearing verbal abuse, and often. complex ptsd can be caused by literally anything, and verbal abuse is up there on possible causes if it happens for a prolonged time which for me it was a long time before i finally realised i was being abused and quit
also the put decice down is funny when i was just an innocent kid trying to make friends but instead called slurs, screamed at and dehumanised

Funny thing is Roblox was already highly censored. Kids often end up saying #### ### ##### which is a censoring format for random typos. The no-no word filter includes stuff like "Mike Hunt", or "Mole Lester" that get censored if you get what I mean hahahaha

The owners of roblox once said in a video they won't do anything about it because pedos bring in too much $$$
They also banned a popular guy who would genuinely investigate these pedos, and report the information to police.
Because he made them look bad
