No one could ever be as pretty as Pillars

u/Complete-Damage1141 3d ago
I think you might be right. It is absolutely my favorite dye right now... And I have a feeling it will be for a while π

u/Vincemillion07 3d ago
The best part is that less is more. Less dye means more orange, and the white naturally pairs with it

u/Complete-Damage1141 3d ago
I can't wait to make more things with pillars. I'm kicking myself for only buying a 2 oz container. I will be buying a huge one soon π

Now that is easy on the eyes!

u/Complete-Damage1141 3d ago
Thank you so much! It is really cool. I love it a lot. Actually I think I might have to keep it forever even if I never wear it... π

It happens! That is what I did with HWI #18! Some pieces are hard not to fall in love with!

I have to say this is my first. I have no criticism and just an immense joy for this art. I've been standing on my couch for the last hour.. oh yeah just looking at it when I should be doing other stuff.

u/Complete-Damage1141 3d ago
I meant sitting on my couch... I don't often spend time standing on it π π

I see a wolf in a forest over mountains and a landslide.Β
What colors are these, it's to dye for.Β

This is pillars of Creation by grateful dyes. I got my first order from them yesterday and I made this and I definitely think it's my favorite color ever

u/Upstairs_Usual_4841 3d ago
Honestly, at first I thought this was a somewhat abstract Balrog from lotr, rising up out of the flames, haha

Whoa. What a cool thing to see in there. I just keep seeing a velociraptor... Hiding in the bushes to attack or keep your attention while the other two attack from the sides. I may have been more traumatized by Jurassic Park as a child than I thought... π€·

u/bagofboards 3d ago
wolf? bear? man bear pig?
4
u/Complete-Damage1141 3d ago
I kind of see a velociraptor peeking to some bushes.. Or maybe a bull? If you look you can see the white horns on each side

Amazing!! Mind sharing how you got that pattern? It's so cool
6
u/Complete-Damage1141 3d ago
It's actually very similar to the tutorial post I put on up a few days ago. I detailed how I fold them and then how I dye them with the rack and gravity. And this one was dyed twice to get the gravity coming from the other direction.

u/Complete-Damage1141 3d ago
I think the only difference is that is where I made my initial tie and the shape of it. But I can draw it out for you later and put it on here. And I play a lot with a bottle of soda ash solution while I'm dyeing. One because I'm impatient and two because I love the way it can wipe out the lines sometime

u/Complete-Damage1141 3d ago
Yes it is pillars. I just got it yesterday. I'm in love with this color

u/peazy303 3d ago
man iβve played with it a few times because iβve seen so much killer work with it but mine never come out as cool i think im using too much
10
u/Complete-Damage1141 3d ago
I used a good amount of dye on this too. I think what I do that I don't see a lot of people doing is I use a bottle of soda ash solution and I just spray the heck out of it while it's dyeing, often. I want it to streak. And that's when you see the real color splits

Thank you. I posted a bit of a tutorial last week with some pictures and some instructions on how I do my gravity dyes. I basically did this one the same as those. I just turned it around when I was done with it and dyed it from the bottom also.

u/WritPositWrit 3d ago
Thats spectacular, i love the splits!!

u/Complete-Damage1141 3d ago
Thank you. I cheat though... My squirt bottle of soda ash solution is like my favorite thing to play with while doing gravity dyes lately.

I let out several explicitatives when I realized how cool it was. I think I yelled oh f*** all the way from the laundry room to the front room to show my boyfriend. π

I see one of the most amazing tie dyes Iβve ever seen πππ

It really is! I've liked certain dyes more than others before, but this is the first time that I have a favorite

You have something here. Refine and nail down the technique
1
u/Complete-Damage1141 3d ago
Thank you, I've really been enjoying playing around with gravity. I'm excited to see when it turns into π
3
u/Ananda_Mind 3d ago
Iβve dyed for a very long time. Every technique was an accident, then refined. If you explore youβll find something other want to replicate and own. This secret is always being the one who stumbled on it, and figured out how to replicate it.

u/Complete-Damage1141 3d ago
I don't know that I've ever thought about it that way before, but you're right, it started as admiring someone else's gravity work then trying to make it myself and now it's become my gravity work. Shout out to u/skuzzy1337 who originally inspired me π

Thanks! yeah, i dream a lot about tie dyes, and it hit me one night. But what Complete damage does is way next level! Great work!!

This is an exceptionally cool shirt! I'm seeing a lot of what others have mentioned...
But I'm also (and this is super specific) picking up an Expressionist-style, Der Blaue Reiter' landscape painting of an oceanfront. Vantage point is standing in the water looking back towards land and contains elements of the ocean, sandy beach, and sprawling palm trees with sky behind.
Sick job, u/completedamage1141- thank you for sharing and here's an award for you!

u/huthuthaik 3d ago
Can you share how your tie this up?! ππ

u/Complete-Damage1141 2d ago
I have a post outlining the entire process on my profile. I think there's only a slight difference between the one I posted and this one.

This is one of the best pieces I've seen in a while! Thanks for sharing! (Love me some pillars of creation)
2
u/Complete-Damage1141 1d ago
A little birdie told me that there will be a new version of pillars coming out soon!!! If I can glean any other details I will be sure to let you know
1
u/CrookedPawDesigns Trust the Muck 1d ago
Wait....what?!?!?! π€―π That'll be fun to test when it does.
2
u/Complete-Damage1141 1d ago
I know! I'm waiting very impatiently. It's called pillars of light, And Steve, at grateful Dyes said that it's a lighter version of pillars made for applying less dye with more precision or something very similar to that. I sent him a picture of this shirt because it was my first experience with pillars of Creation ever and to have such a great result gave me so much appreciation for the dye itself and also the quality of the product. They have great customer service. I will absolutely be buying many more Dyes from them in the future
