Tool upgrades?
Any obvious tool upgrades/purchases to my current loadout to make my life easier?
Trade: Marine Electrician.

Not much. Though if that Snap-On ratcheting screwdriver is the one that just has the bits rattle around in the handle, I would switch to a Wera, Wiha, or Klein multi-bit.

Yeah it’s that terrible design Snap-On one lol I can’t stand the bits rattling around in the handle. That’s why I have that dewalt bit holder that I can just clip onto my belt.
Honestly I barely use my screwdrivers anymore since buying that Snap-On nano access gun. Seems to have saved the tendons in my wrist and elbows.

I prefer the Railer bit holders. They are not that expensive and so handy.

But I get what you saying about screwdrivers. For me, it is an M12 electronic screwdriver and Fuel impact driver.

I also have the snapon cordless screwdriver.
If I wasn’t already on the DeWalt eco system I would have the m12 and the fuel.

So much sharpies! Is it you, Donald?
1
u/JesusDrivesAAstrovan Sep 13 '26
Haha no, I got the pack of sharpies at Costco and I think they breed if you leave them in your tool bag

u/al-Raschid Sep 13 '26
Do they start as fineliner?
Nice set! Whats the prybar on the left? Can't read the companys name.

u/JesusDrivesAAstrovan Sep 14 '26
No they’re pretty thicc, sometimes I cut them down if I want them fine.
Thank you! It’s blue point’s Metal Pry/Fabrication Tool (PBFT10)
Plenty of knock offs out there if you don’t like the tool truck, but it’s like $30CAN and easy warranty.

Snap-On is not so common over here in Germany, I think. I've got a Hultafors 108 mini, but I should add one with a round tip as yours.

I’m sure you can find some alternative on Amazon that does the same thing pretty well.
What’s your opinion on the stahlwillie torque wrenches? I’ve considered ordering one in instead of getting my snapon
1
u/al-Raschid Sep 14 '26
I have only worked with oder models of HAZET. But Stahlwille would be my new choice, because you don't have to set it to zero after use.

The only reason I haven’t pulled the trigger is because of having to ship it somewhere to get it recalibrated.

A small soft head mallet might be handy for stuck cover plates.
1
u/JesusDrivesAAstrovan Sep 14 '26
Honestly never had this issue.
I have a wooden mallet for my chisels.

u/nutznboltsguy Sep 14 '26
How about a small pry bar then?

Top(ish) left hand corner, beside the paint pen, near the knipex wrenches and the adjustable wrench is a blue point Metal Pry/Fabrication Tool (PBFT10)

I have swapped out all my sharpies for the retractable kind. It's a small thing, but you can use it one-handed and there's no risk of marking up the inside of the cap, which transfers ink to the grip area and then your hands.

Label maker, Allen keys, In-lb or NM torque wrench?
1
u/JesusDrivesAAstrovan Sep 14 '26
Label maker, Allen keys, and torque wrenches all live on my pack out. Label maker because of its size and the Allen keys/torque wrenches because I don’t reach for them every single day.

There is a more pocket friendly version of your little bluepoint pry bar. It is Snap-on PBFT60R. R is the color, so swap that out with whichever color you prefer.

What’s the durability on those like? I’ve warrantied my other one a couple times already. All due to misuse lol
Edit: I can’t spell

It seems to be good, I haven’t broken one yet and it’s longer when it’s deployed. The shank part is thicker and it gives me the impression it’s more dense. I wanted to upload a picture but this sub doesn’t have the option.

I have the imperial version but they make a metric as well. If your eyesight isn't 20/20 these are great in everyday use and Excell in lower light areas. Absolutely love this tape. Very reasonable prices
Crescent Nite Eye tape measure

It was a gift from an old fisherman. We were trading stories and said he wanted to give it to someone who was still working on the water.
