What Should I Buy Anyone priced out yet?
55$.....at Walmart
Is Hasbro literally making us not want to buy these guys for Msrp? On a little outing to fix a tire and normally I would pick one of these up. But now?! Really 55?! If I'm not buying these guys as an adult, what actual kid or parent is buying these? I don't know what they are thinking, but unfortunately I guess I'll see these guys at ROSS 🤦♂️

Plastic is made with oil, shipping takes oil, everything runs on oil and its extremely expensive right now. Lego are even worse with their prices compared the pieces now to the pieces of older sets of the same price. The high prices suck, but it's not just Hasbro, it's Mattel and Lego also.

This!! This is not a Hasbro (exclusive) problem. And on top of unprecedentedly high material and transportation costs, Overall sales are also down significantly across ALL toy brands - kids don’t want physical toys anymore as a rule. So EVERYONE is more targeting adult collectors and raising prices assuming they’re going to sell far fewer units and raising prices accordingly to try to make the same profits.
I don’t know that there is an answer here…. The whole situation SUUUUCKS. But to answer the OP’s question - I was also mostly priced out with this last round of increases. I’m finishing sets (swindle, tailgate, icons Megatron) but after that? New figures are going to be very rare for me.

The leaders aren’t even the issue. I mean they’re definitely too expensive but voyagers and deluxes are the real issues. I’ve gotten so many deluxes at ross for 12 bucks that I would’ve regretted forever at 30. Ross is really keeping the 2010s pricing alive. I just can’t imagine kids asking their parents for a toy at the store these days and them saying yes to a 30 dollar transformer. I remember when I was a kid having a ton of 5-15 dollar transformers that were decent.

I will offer that Leaders are worth the $55-60. I have SS86 Megs, Liege, Onyx, Megatronus, SS86 Soundwave, Unicron Herald, and I feel I get my money's worth.
It's the Deluxes and Voyagers that we're really getting rinsed on the most, IMO.
$30 for a minibot? No.

I'll be checking out Ross then. I mostly cherry pick figures that I like now but even that gets tough. Looking for recent version Omega Supreme and working tank for my original and then I may just wait for sales

Me. This is getting ridiculous. The next step will be they'll skimp on paint and engineering to bring the price back down. Can't sacrifice stock dividends.
I completed the main 3 seekers and Bruticus, and the main show cast. I'm just gonna cherry pick from here on out. Probably just IDW guys.

Yup exactly, I finished Bruticus and the only other one I've bought is armada jetfire an only cause I had a gift card on Amazon!!! Literally Hasbro needs to get it together, or unfortunately this fan base will never recover. Maybe the new movie will pull it out of the grave lol

was there a recent price increase for other regions?
there's been a lot of posts about price increases, but the only thing I've seen is voyagers jumping to $42 and that was around last year, and deluxes going from $25-27 up to $30 in the last few months

Deluxes are going up to $30, probably. Marvel and Star Wars are, so that's the rumor anyway. But yes, Leaders have been $55 for five years so why OP chose them and not Deluxe or even Voyager figures is weird.

Not priced out but extremely selective now. For 55 a halfassed Megatronus retool is a non starter. There are very few characters I feel I need at this point that I’m willing to overpay for.

I’ve officially tapped out after completing Bruticus, though I’ve allowed myself to preorder two exceptions: the 40th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray (assuming that counts), and the Studio Series Bayverse Ironhide rerelease next year (a personal “grail”). After that, though, I’m definitely officially “out,” though I won’t rule out picking up something extremely intriguing on rare occasions (e.g., let’s see what SS86 Rodimus looks like).

Honestly, the thing that makes me sad is that, if I was born thirty years later than I was, I probably would not be to get most of these figures due to the prices. I really fell bad for children that like these. Their parents don't have any more purchasing power than we do, so they likely are not able to afford complete combiners like Devastator or Bruticus, and that is pretty pathetic on Hasbro's part.

i’ve been priced out for a while. i only buy bots at discount or second hand, ross has been amazing lately, although i think some of theirs have factory errors. maybe for my birthday i might treat myself to a full priced bot, but their aren’t even any that i think are worth it for now :(

All it means is that I'm pickier about which Hasbro-made Transformers I get and then I can spend other money on KOs and bots from previous lines to fill out collection blindspots. So I MIGHT get a brand new MISB figure a month but then get 5 others that are either some KO from AliExpress or a trade/deal on Marketplace. And, honestly, I not only like it that way but that's how I feel like it should be. Do I want Hasbro's Transformers to continue costing an arm and a leg? No. Does this mean now is the perfect time to show your devotion to Transformers as a fandom and hobby source by diversifying into other avenues of collecting? Yes. I've made friends with other local collectors and collector shop owners plenty this way, as well as getting to experience the craftsmanship of 3rd and 4th party figures.

My 8 year-old loves watching the old G1 cartoon. He likes playing with my old toys. I’ve bought him some new versions of characters he likes that I never had…but I am NOT playing to pay $55 for Blitzwing no matter how much he loves the triplechangers! …and all the Combaticons are HOW MUCH?!
Nope.
Given that Hasbro is moving their HQ out of Rhode Island into Boston’s (EXPENSIVE) Seaport District and anyone working there is going to have to spend a lot more on food and housing, I think they’ve really lost sight of what average folks think is affordable.

I used to use my pro membership points from GameStop to make them even cheaper but now they are just getting rid of points system starting next month. Paying $30 for a small figure really makes you reconsider what you’d rather spend the money on. I still want Skyfire and Shreadhead but like $100 is so much right now.

Like the current Fire Emblem is like $80 plus tax thats like 2-3 deluxes. At least Fire Emblem I know I can wait awhile but TF is harder because of speculators and just major mishaps like what happened with SS86 StarScream and Prowl.

Even then it still feels like a battle to get them. Why do we have to wake up around 4AM in the morning if we want to get them online to beat the bots. Even then we have the people camping out at place like Target & Walmart to get them first thing in the morning. Getting Transformers can feel like a luck based game sometimes. We’re extremely lucky when it’s made to preorder and there’s plenty of time to get it.

At this point, I really only buy when Target or Meijer has a sale, or I find something fun at Ross or Ollie’s. Black Friday sales on Amazon and Pulse are good too. But I have like 6 rubbermaids of Transformers from years of collecting and Facebook Marketplace finds, so I’m not dying for anything new too much. Beyond the combiners, I don’t think anything since Earthrise has really excited me.

I bought the 86 studio series gridlock for 50 4 or 5 years ago now the re-release age of the prime is 60. Which isn't to big a deal to me but the standard figure is going to be 30 up from 23 in the same time period across all lines. I won't be preording from now on if it sells out oh well. I'll still be getting figures but only on sale or if it's something I really want but can't get other than preording.

Yep. Price is the big factor but combined with lazy designs, cheap plastics, hollow limbs, next to no paint apps, no weapons (new trend it seems) and poor distribution = I severely reduced my collecting. Transformers and G.I. Joe Classified being the last 2 lines I occasionally buy. I stopped all the rest.

I had Blitzwing and Astrotrain as a kid. Them along with a ton of other transformers, he-mans, and thundercats got buried under my house when I left them out in a play sessions and then came home next day to find they spread all the fill dirt out to get ready to poor concrete. I was pissed!

Kinda, yeah. For a little over a year or so I've stopped getting figures just because I want to see how they are. I basically stick to characters I know that I like, in versions/molds I don't have. And even then it's sparse.

I tried finding the email to Hasbro's Customer Care line, but someone said at NYCC, that the more emails are sent, the more higher ups will notice. Especially considering Mattel is starting to make waves again

Honestly, (and I know this is gonna be a fireball of a hot take);
I used to flame Funkos a lot, but since my gf got into collecting them I’ve been getting some too, and I think I might sell off my shit and put it into that lol
For me, they serve the same purpose as “oh hey it’s my favorite character that I can display”.
Obviously I know with figures and toys you can pose them and play with them, but when you get so many of them most of the time the only way you can fit them on a shelf is to have them in a static museum pose anyway.
$30 for a deluxe is just insane to me. $30 for any mainline basic figure from Hasbro is crazy to me.

Lol what dude? You’d rather spend $10-100’s+ for a funko? At that point print out a picture of ur favorite character if all I want is to occasionally look at it and go “oh that’s my favorite character”

I don’t collect Funko Pops but calling anyone’s collecting habits slop is hateful. At the end of the day it’s all useless bullshit we buy in an attempt to be happy for a moment. Let people waste their money how they want.
I used to be 100% against any transformer that doesn’t transform, but I’ve got a handful of Blokees and they’re both cool looking and fun to build.
