Discussion / Opinion One step forward two steps back
This is kinda what I feel about most of Hasbro's transformers recently, especially for the movie figures
I was watching MarooqPrimal416's review of ss evasion optimus and I just really want to commend Hasbro's way of approaching the Optimus Prime foot issue, where the original was just out in the open as the truck bed. On the SS, it opens and splits in half, one to form the back of the truck and the other to make the bed. I think this is a really smart idea... until I remembered that they molded the smokestack into his foot
Hasbro truly has been in the mindeset of having the one step forward and two steps back mentality. It's now the trend of being oh so accurate and redoing figures, but also its now way smaller than previously, way more expensive, less details, less paint, but more articulation for the most part. There's also just baffling design decisions that are being made constantly, such as astrotrain's chest.

Is that two trailer hitches?

The one close to the cab is for 5mm weapons, the larger one it for compatibility with multiple trailers

For me astrotrain was a disappointment cause of the arms from someone who’s introduction to him was the skybound run I always thought he would have like big arms and stuff not the noodles we got

The smokestack is connected to his foot. It looks straight up jarring in the robot mode when he has an extra thingy poking out

If this is the Optimus I just saw in my local Target, the colors are god-awful. I don’t give a shit about the engineering…if they can’t get the colors to look good, then it may as well be 3rd party china slop.
Want it to look old and rusty? Great. I’m here for it. But it’s lazy, cheap and not worth my money. And the blue? FML, they faded that out as well.
If we are gonna pay more for these figures, then we should get at least a basic good figure. If we pay for mediocrity then we will only get mediocre product.
I can’t accept that.
