🇳🇿🔥 HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHAT THESE MĀORI CARVINGS MEAN? 🔥🇳🇿
Welcome to the incredible world of Māori culture at Te Puia in Rotorua! 🪵✨
As you approach the Māori carving school, these beautiful examples of whakairo — traditional Māori carving — remind us that every carving can tell a story. ❤️
👣 They connect generations through whakapapa — our ancestry and family connections.
🌀 The intricate designs preserve Māori knowledge, identity and traditions.
🪵 And inside the school, talented Māori students learn from master carvers, keeping these precious skills alive for future generations.
This isn't just carving wood — it's preserving history, culture and the stories of our tūpuna (ancestors). 🇳🇿❤️
Have you visited Te Puia? What do you think these amazing carvings represent? 👇

Really only had half a day as I was transiting from the highlands road trip back to London, but really loved the vibe and atmosphere of the city, can’t wait to go back and experience it more thoroughly.

In Japan, nemophila season is starting and it is one of the most cinematic spring views. Thousands of blue flowers cover the hills. Creating the feeling of an endless sky on the ground. Peak bloom usually happens in April and May Hitachi Park is the most famous spot with millions of flowers. Fun fact Memophila is often called baby blue eyes because of its color. A place where the ground turns into the sky.

A scenic bike ride from Bhubaneswar through Kapilash Wildlife Sanctuary, cool weather, winding mountain roads and monkeys along the way! 🐒🌳 Spotted an Indian Giant Squirrel, explored the forest around sunset, and visited the ancient Kapilash Temple, perched on a hill and dating back to 1246 CE.
The best part? Hearing fascinating temple stories and local beliefs directly from a priest and a local resident. 🛕✨
Have you explored Kapilash yet? Hey, 👋 I have documented my travel experiences here 👇
