Discussion Yard Signs

Anyone know where to find some Abdul signs in town, the democratic office was all out. The volunteer even said all of her signs were stolen last night from her house 😢 normally not a sign person but 3 people in my neighborhood just put up Roger’s signs and I am disgusted.

All else fails you could have one made at one of our many print shops here. I have no idea how much it would cost but then you get it’s to say something sassy ā€œsay yes to Sayedā€ or whatever. I haven’t been able to get one either & I disagree with those who say they’re ineffective. Seeing my neighbor down the street with signs let me know something about them & im okay with people knowing that I want more for my neighbors than just another jack politician from out of town. šŸ¤·šŸ¼

You know, I feel the same way. I think that was initially why I wanted to may sure to get a sign supporting Abdul. I want others around me to know what I stand for. Being surrounded by the signs for Bergman, James and Roger’s just make me shudder every time I see them and don’t want to be associated with that in anyway

Someone also stole my Abdul yard sign. Fascists/racists are everywhere.

Funny enough you assume it's a hater but one year there was signs going missing and it turned out to be mostly pple who agreed and just wanted a sign of their own because they didn't know where to get one or couldn't..

Dude, sign stealing on campaigns is relatively common and it is by no means an indication that someone is fascist. Sure, it is a jerk thing to do, and I am sorry your sign was taken. Likely a local teenager, not a Hitler youth. Relax.

Hey is Dr. El-Sayed licensed to practice medicine?

u/Virtual-Swimming-426 4d ago

No, he doesn’t have his medical license. But he earned a doctorate in public health after getting his M.D degree from Columbia.

Well one thing you got to realize Abdul doesn't have corporate or AIPAC money on this grassroots campaign. It is a statewide campaign versus local candidates. I'm sure there's limits of spending going into the last few weeks. I know down in gr the local Dem office has a lot of the blue or white paper signs that could go in a door or window. But the same down here this weekend I got the last couple as I went canvassing, door knocking to give them out the few left.. LET'S DO THIS NOVEMBER 3RD

I dislike Abdul because he doesn't have American values but this argument is just silly. He was a Dr who quit practicing to go into politics. So where as he isn't a practicing physician at the moment, it doesn't change the fact he is one. Sorry but I call it how I see it for either side and this argument isnt what you think It is

Abdul himself has told us he never passed the board that would enable him to practice. He's never diagnosed any patients. He has worked in administrative positions. There is nothing wrong with this. I think we Dems benefit more from being accurate. It's important to make clear there is nothing to hide and advocate proudly. Just make what you say is right so as not give ammo to the opposition.

Regards of your political persuasion, I've never understood yard signs. Has anyone ever changed their vote due to seeing a yard sign?

I am not sure, I’ve never been a yard sign person but I’m surrounded by Roger’s signs at this point and it just annoys me every time I walk/drive by. Would like to proudly show where I stand.

My thought is that maybe by posting it you show another neighbor who might not be so sure about it that they aren’t alone.

I’ve wondered this too, but I also think I’m a nice normal neighbor. If someone is on the fence maybe they will realize I’m a normal person and they might vote with me. Maybe I’m just dreaming.

No, but it helps people volunteering for campaigns be more efficient with their time. If someone has a sign, it’s less likely you can sway their vote.

Most just get tossed in the garbage after the election too - seems wasteful to me

u/Curtnorth 5d ago

Exactly, seems the only people who benefit are the sign makers 😁😜

I like to vote the same as whatever neighbor walks on the right side of the road, cleans up their dog poop, has a medium nice yard with native plants.

You laugh, but there's a person in my neighborhood who is EXACTLY that person and that yard. They recently put yard signs up and, I am thrilled to say they match mine!

Let me help you. Copy this into Google:

Efficacy of yard signs political for political parties

Imo nothing will change the opinion of 99% of people. They choose who they will vote based on party alone and not much will change that.

1

u/GruggleTheGreat 5d ago

I think it’s good to voice your opinion, some people will surely be swayed by their neighbors political opinions.

Seems like an invitation to the opposition to come and harass you.

I ordered mine from his campaign site. It took about 10 days to arrive though, idk if you do rush shipping

u/Virtual-Swimming-426 5d ago

Oh good to know, will check that out thank you!

I’ve been looking everywhere too. There’s so many Abdul signs everywhere but where are they coming from??

2

u/Virtual-Swimming-426 5d ago

Agreed! I have no idea?! There were plenty of other signs available for other candidates in other positions

1

u/TopLengthiness8233 3d ago

Welcome to America where we all can put up a sign for whoever we want. Just like you can, they can. You can be disgusted, that's life for ya though. Maybe be a little less bothered by others. If you think rogers has a chance your silly

2

u/Virtual-Swimming-426 3d ago

I wouldn’t think Roger’s has a chance but then again I thought the same about Trump, and all that has been going on….and you’re right we are both able to put up a sign hence the reason for my post about trying to find one. And you know what happened after we found extras from someone in the community…after we put ours up, 3 others also followed suit with Abdul signs, it was wonderful to see

Try Etsy. Also, if you’re in the Traverse City thread, you can ask Bay Area Recycling for Community about what to do with your yard sign after the election.

The name Abdul should never be on a political sign in the United States.
