I built a free tennis court finder and player connector for the Triangle
I built a website to help tennis players find courts and connect with each other in the Triangle. It's completely free to use -- no ads, no paywalls, no subscriptions.
I built it because I got frustrated with the same things I think a lot of us deal with:
- Every tennis app wants you to pay just to see basic court and player info
- Finding hitting partners as a young professional is genuinely hard
- I could never find simple stuff in one place -- does this court have a hitting wall? Lights? Are reservations required? What are the hours?
So I just built what I wanted to exist.
Right now it covers courts across the Triangle -- Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Apex, Holly Springs, Wake Forest, Garner, and more. Every court has details on lights, surface type, hitting walls, reservation links, hours, cost, and condition. You can also create a player profile with your skill level and availability, and message other players directly to set up a hit.
Everything is completely free to use. No ads, no paywalls, no subscriptions.
If there's a court I'm missing, let me know and I'll add it. Happy to hear any feedback.

Hey! This is super cool.
I'd be really curious to hear how you built it as I'm in the process of building out my first little side project as well. Are you a professional developer? What tools/tech are you using?

Hey!
Thank you! Yes, I work in tech. I used Claude Code and a pretty scalable, affordable stack so then I can run this all for free. Feel free to hit my line for more in depth questions as well. Happy to help out!

This is so neat! Would be awesome to see it expanded for other pickup sports. Soccer, ultimate, etc

Hey! Yes! Thank you! That is my plan! Wanted to start with tennis first and then move into soccer and then more later on! Same problem across tbh!

This is really neat - One note here, you might want to make your name not a random generated username, looks a bit sketch. Definitely gives me 'Something smells off here' vibes. Especially since you have an empty profile.
Also Reddit has been going really hard on shadow banning people advertising their sites. (Whether they are paid or not). Since your profile has every single post being about this page, I imagine your account will be locked within the next 24 hours or so; and then this link will also be added to the spam filter.
Don't really have any advice post-action, but just a heads up.
Pic so I don't look crazy when they get banned/spam-filtered by reddit:

Hey!
Thank you for the feedback. First time using reddit like this and trying to spread across the RTP to get feedback. I will hit your line on the can and cant dos with reddit. I appreciate you letting me know. This is a learning experience for sure.
Thank you!

Hey thanks this is awesome! u/West_Necessary_8982 Just curious from a technical standpoint, how/where do you host the app? there is cost associated so Iām just wondering how do you offset the hosting fees? Thanks in advance

This is awesome! One you could add is Rock Quarry Park in Durham - https://www.dprplaymore.org/Facilities/Facility/Details/Rock-Quarry-Park-60

Oval Drive Park does have a hitting wall too. It is small, but it counts I guess. If you add a rating system at some point, these courts would be low on my list š

Ok, sounds good will add the hitting wall. Haha, I was considering a user-driven court quality rating as well. I may do this as well!

Thanks so much for making this, it's a great idea! Do you have plans for a feature to report issues with the data for review? I've noticed a few inaccuracies so far (eg Jaycee park has 2 courts not 8, and a few location markers are off)

Have you considered scraping any data from OpenStreetMap?

Hey! I haven't, but I will look into it. Seems like they have an API to get some info, would still need to get the details like the number of courts, hitting wall, lights, surface, condition, bathrooms, parking, etc. Regardless it could be a good discovery or cross validation tool! Thank you!
