They did this on Double J last week - seems like a more suitable home for it.

Hopefully we get an Hour of Underworld when those tour dates are announced later this week.

Underworld aren't an Australian band though; makes sense that Powderfinger gets dedicated hours being an Australian band on an Australian radio station

And don't forget one of the most successful Australian bands of the last 30 years. My tween kids know who powderfinger is and I definitely didn't I produce them to the kids.

Does the modern, target audience give a fuck that Powderfinger has reunited? Most of them were in primary school and some of them were gettin their nappies changed when they broke up.

Just play some Slayyyter, PinkPantheress or Olivia Rodrigo.

They’d also have parents who would have listened to them when they were in primary school or getting their nappies changed when they broke up. You underestimate Powderfinger’s reach.

One of the big improvements of triple j in the last year or so (since the Aus Hottest 100 it feels), has the been the respect they’ve shown to older and legendary acts. 

I think this is great for a novelty morning

I've been meaning to make a post about this all year - I'm glad someone else has noticed it too. Before this year hearing anything from before 2015 on the brekky show was truly noteworthy. Now sometimes we even get back to back classics - as a millennial who still tunes in daily I absolutely dig it.

Only for certain acts though (Gorillaz and Deftones in particular).

I can't see Powderfinger cutting through to Zoomers and Gen Alpha.

Before they became a bland pub rock band, Powderfinger were a little known indie band with a cool record called “Double Allergic” and Triple J played them a lot. There’s a nice circle to them being featured on the station that helped get them started.

So fucking dumb. Triple j has turned to shit. I think it’s time to find new breakfast host. I have turned the morning show off more in the last 6 months then I have in the last 5 yrs listening from 6am every morning
.. they didn’t once mention the bathurst 1000 in the new??? If I wanted to listen to a band for an hour I would use Spotify
