Even when I post a lot, ask, comment and reblog, It feels like my blog is only really seen as content to consume. I don't know how things were back in 2016 when fandoms were truely thriving but it seems like there's significantly less interaction than before. I have been trying to wrap my head around the idea of building connections with people via casual conversations for months on end and after reading many different posts regarding fandoms, it just doesn't seem to do me any good in regards to making any meaningful friends.

Yes, that's annoying as hell, however, that happens sometimes. With that said, try changing your password and see if it stops for a while because that might be a solution.

Also, while we're at it, when you send modmail asking for permission to post, please specify why you're posting and, while you're at it, please, before doing that check for other posts of the same subject or, at least, consult Tumblr's help pages, as, odds are, your question might have been answered there.

This is my first time working with html so bear with me. Im working with the Hatfield theme to use as my portfolio and I have it set up where the header links filter out posts based on my tags. Thing is, whenever I go to these tagged pages, the description from my home page is there too. I tried setting up separate pages so I could format them how I want it, but they conflict with the taggedpage url.

Is there any way I can edit the contents of the “description” based on what page you are on or get rid of the description on those pages entirely so I can attempt to format different text boxes to label these pages?

I'd like links on Tumblr to appear with a preview of what the link leads to, but keep running into issues with it. When I paste just a URL, even when I click the button to embed the link, just the URL appears without the link and preview. So far I've tried:

• Mobile, desktop, and app versions
• Using Firefox, Chrome, and Safari
• Making "clean" links without tracking
• Making "dirty" links with tracking
• CTRL+shift+V to paste the URL
• Making the post a "link post" when choosing what type to make
• Changing the source of the content to be the URL
• Changing the custom URL of the post to be the URL
• Creating text, highlighting the text, and using "add link" or CTRL+K to add a link

All of those work sometimes; none of them work consistently. Is there something else I'm missing? Thanks!

I made a private blog (public seems daunting being new to social media as I am) for archiving fanart of a character and my concern is that the private reblogs might be seen as creepy, as though I have something to hide? Especially artists who draw this character regularly and are getting spammed with empty notifications. Would public reblogging despite my anxieties be more polite or am I thinking too hard about this?

I apologize for my english in advance, someone knows why is this game appearing every time I touch the T of Tumblr un the website, is there any way to get rid of this? It hasn't been always there and I googled about it but I don't find information about it 🫤.

It's only been about a year since I've actually started to make an effort in interacting with fandoms through art, commenting, reblogging and my own text posts. I'm not looking to gain a huge following or expecting every single person that comes across my posts to engage, I would just like to converse with people whose interests align with mine.

Tumblr ends up being the one place to do this because other platforms have either not been easy or I'm just not familiar with their social climate(i.e. tiktok, instagram)

I've been wondering if tumblr's just flatout dead in the water compared to others. As much as I've been yelling into the void with my posts, commenting and reblogging with compliments, I've felt that I've been doing something wrong for so long and I just needed some reassurance that it's not actually me but instead, the site's relevancy itself.

I come here asking for your advice. I want to create myself an account on tumblr, mostly because I really don't like how other social media has treated artist. I was first going back to Cara or DeviantArt, yet both are really very suspicious nowadays, I never have been fond of Tiktok and I have an Instagram and Facebook account, but many artist I know are going back to tumblr. The problem is that I never have ever done a account in my life. I have tried twice, but I really never understand well how to use it, as I am very accomodated for Instagram mostly, yet I still want to do it. It would be my first time, specially since I want to follow an art path, like fanarts or have my own art portfolio.

So I wanted to hear the opinion of people who have being on tumblr, being artist or not, and see if that is a good start? Or what should I do? What tips specially in my area.

Restricted doesn't mean you can't post, just that posts will be sent to the Mod Queue to be approved. You don't need to come to modmail all the time.

Idk if it's just me, but I SERIOUSLY cannot find the deactivation button in the settings and accounts. All I see is the "delete" button. I did more digging, and for some reason, I can't find reblogged posts from deactivated accounts??? I was very devastated because one of my favorite authors was gone, I couldn't find their old reblogged posts I had in my account, and idk if I'm the only one experiencing this. Not sure if it's a "skill issue" or a tumblr bug on my end.

Hello! I've found myself in a situation that I haven't seen anyone else post about, and I'm kind of hoping someone who has been through this can guide me, or at least someone who has more ideas on how to approach this.

I'm a long-term Tumblr user who is now also a VTuber. I wanted to make a Tumblr account separate from my known accounts because I don't want my previous usernames to be connected to my streaming life. I also made the mistake of purchasing a custom domain via Tumblr for branding purposes, because I thought it'd be fun. An important note here is that this account was not for spamming, self-advertising, or anything like that. It was primarily for longer posts and for reblogs. I never advertised my streams or spammed anything, because that's not what Tumblr is for.

Back in June, my account was banned for seemingly no reason. I suspect I was mistakenly caught up in a banwave, but I did not post anything that would have gotten me banned. The best I can think of is that I use a VPN sometimes for region-locked Japanese-only gacha games, but my non-VTuber account remains unbanned despite that so I'm at a loss.

This post, however, is not about me wanting to be unbanned. I'm upset that I can no longer access my account, but it's not devastating, and it's not like I used it for networking or anything like that. If that were the only issue, I would have shrugged and moved on. However, because I'm banned, I cannot cancel my Tumblr domain subscription. I tried contacting support in June, after I had gotten banned, but received no response. I recently got an email that says my subscription will auto-renew in September unless I log into my settings to cancel it. I can't log into my settings to cancel it because my account was banned.

I've reached out a second time to support, but I've sort of accepted that I won't be receiving a reply before it autorenews. I'd really prefer not to wait to file a chargeback and explain to my credit card company why services weren't rendered because that feels like a nuclear response, but I also haven't been able to find any other options besides that if staff doesn't respond. I'm also not willing to pay $20 a year for a domain I cannot use, so sitting and doing nothing isn't an option for me.

According to tumblr, a post with reblogs turned off can still be reblogged if someone is @ mentioned in the post. But I just tested it with two accounts and it doesn’t seem to work. Is this just straight up untrue? Or am I missing something? Does anyone know?

Last night, I started getting this "Checking your browser" infinite load screen. I've left a tab open since then as well as trying to open it in new tabs a few time, no dice. In searching, I found a few posts here and elsewhere about this problem, but the only proposed solution was "clear your cache" which didn't work for me or the person it was suggested to, iirc. The only resolution I've seen in any of those posts, is one of them saying that the problem just suddenly stopped happening after a month. The only places I found that I couldn't actually check were Tumblr posts that seemed to show something from the search preview, but I couldn't look at them for obvious reasons.

So yea, if anyone's got a clue, I'd appreciate some help.

Actually, filter. You go to your account settings and there should be settings labeled "Filtered Tags" and "Filtered Post Content".

So, the activity tab is showing that I've a notification, but i don't have any on any of blogs. Apparently that's a tumblr glitch.

Does anyone have any idea how can I fix it? It's irritating me alot while using the app haha.

I own a private blog where I write fics to a small audience, sometimes people will request i add them to a tag list and generally i try to tag people who requested it, sometimes someone will ask to be tagged through my public or someone who was will stop following me for whatever reason and I'm not sure if they will be able to see the post. I heard they get a notification so maybe they will be able to request once they see the title but is anyone aware? Any help would be appreciated

I have been good friends with this mutual for 3 years now. Our entire friendship is build on tumblr and discord chats. I would like to look at the 1st messages we had in 2023. I believe we have exchanged tens of thousands of messages now. Is there a way to look at very old messages? Tumblr's chat user interface does not allow fast scrolling or search. Any workarounds?

The quality doesn’t seem to matter. There have been posts I have made where I put 0 effort and it gained traction. Whereas posts I put actual effort into get none.

I have a friend who I do like but she keeps spamming those Gaza scam posts, like it takes me forever to go down my dashboard because she just spam reblogs them. Like literal walls of scam posts. Can I ban words because she doesn't tag the posts, just reblogs?

I don't have the heart to tell her that those posts are scams because her hearts in the right place. I just don't want to have to endlessly scroll every time I go on Tumblr.

Just gonna put this out there, if you ask, "Is this a scam?" or any sort of variant, you're gonna get indefinitely banned and it will be IMMEDIATE. Don't pass go, don't collect 200, straight to being banned.

Tumblr put out a PSA and even a help article on the subject and that subject is pinned.

Seeing those posts get old and, honestly, they're unnecessary to make considering the aforementioned. On top of this, pinned are at the top of the subreddit, the first things y'all should see, so you have less than 0 excuses.
