Doesn't matter - as long as the action is within the Mod Code of Conduct, it's effectively a personal decision.

Yeah, fine. Banning is a reasonable decision for that.

Personally, I'd only ban them for a few days - but it's your choice.

Do what you want. It's your sub.

See, I don't really agree with this mindset. I understand it, don't get me wrong, but there definitely needs to be some sense of making the sub better and more welcoming, rather than just ruling on your own personal whims.

In OPs case, I'd be going with a temp ban. It seems more useful to show users where the line is (they should know that already having thoroughly read and understood the sub rules, obviously!).

I want to build the subs I mod to be welcoming and supportive, and if that means I have to mod them in a way different to my snap reaction, then so be it. There are always some who want to scream and threaten over modmail after a temp ban, and all that does is clarify it needs to be perm, but I think subs that are modded by someone who treats it like their own personal kingdom, with no accountability, is not going to see it grow and thrive.

I mean, you mod r/TeamGB, which was stolen via an abuse of the mod reordering system, and is now squatted on by a head mod known for shitty behaviour, who just uses a bot to post one or two generic articles each day from multiple accounts, to keep their status "active"

Everything you're saying you don't like is everything that r/TeamGB is

I have no idea of the drama you describe, and just help out subs that need a mod.

Certainly, I've not seen that behaviour, but clearly you know more of the background than I do.

I feel it's pretty unfair to tar me with the opinions you have of another mod, just because we cross over on a sub.

100% wrong. Dude showed distaste of whatever the topic is, without going too far in any direction. You're simply censoring an opinion, not removing some troublemaker.
