Recommendations Best oled for gaming & software dev?

Hi!

Can you recommend what are the best oled models around 1400$ / 1250€ on the current market?

I've narroved my list down to
MSI X36 -
ASUS PG34WCDN
from these I'm leaning towards the MSI, but I'm curious if there are better alternatives?

My only criterias I know of: (around) 35", and UWQHD,
for this price I'd like the best picture quality (game and text) and QoL features.

Since I got no direct answers, I'm picking up the MSI X36 today, here we have a 14 day return window anyway, so I'll test myself to see if I like it.

That has the same panel as the asus, so I'll write my experience under this comment tomorrow if I don't forget.

I was looking at some OLED monitors in Micro Center the other day wondering the same...The burn-in is real (at least on some panels) and the text does have fringing. It wasn't as bad as I thought, truthfully, but I think it could cause eye strain/fatigue if using it daily for work.

I decided it was much better to not get OLED given I use my monitor for work (reading text, coding, etc.) for about 80% of the time and 20% gaming. It would be amazing for gaming, but I thought it wasn't worth it.

I would suggest going to a physical store if you can and spending some time looking at OLED monitors. It took me less than 5 minutes and I was able to make up my mind.

I was on the same position and ended up not going oled at all, couldn't bother with the low brightness and burn in chances if my work requires 6+ hours of static stuff every day

Text fringing is also another thing if you read stuff all day, although, it seems new generations have it kind of fixed

What have you picked out of curiosity, I’m thinking lg 34 gn850-b as it’s the ips panel so I could do bit of gaming and work, nothing else really caught my attention in ultrawide segment :)

I'm going from an odyssey g9 to a lg 52 5k2k, that increase in vertical resolution seems great for work as a software dev, but honestly all I wanted was the immersion factor.

Both panels are fast-va, so better contrast than ips and no ghosting/smearing as typical va panels.

Also 240hz full resolution, that was important for me too

I have the LG 52 5k2k and it’s been great having all the vertical space, although the only dev I do is through VS -> claude/codex.

The panel is great, although I do miss the OLED for gaming. But I use my monitor 95/5 work/gaming.

Same here, most of my use is not gaming at all, I do have an oled tv in the same room too if needed, best of both worlds

Oh same, it’s the perfect setup. I also don’t really want to game on my computer after a long day of worth there.

Damn that’s slightly too big for me, I might look into those fast va panels then, thanks for the info!

Trust me, 52in 5k2k is the ultimate single panel for everything. Unless you’re going 3 or 4 panel command center.

Thanks for mentioning these risks / problems, I'm also semi-aware about those but I'm still planning to try it (try = buy it, and return if disappointed).

The text fringing could be the biggest problem for me, but I've read good things about these rgb stripe oled panels, so we'll see.

Fyi I don't know why you are downvoted, I appreciate your real world answers.
