Campus Comedy Seriously?💀
I wouldn't have reminded students to leave feedback after the shitshow this semester + why do they need feedback when students have been complaining about the same issues for years?

Would love to hear about everyone’s experience with honours especially with MCRI, RMH and Royal Women’s. Did you finish with an H1? Did you feel supported?
Hi Grad Students of r/unimelb.
I'm Ewan and I wanted to spread some awareness and encourage everyone to cast their vote in the election for Graduate Representative to University Council on this week from 12pm Monday 19th to 12pm Thursday 22nd.
University Council is the primary governing body of the University of Melbourne and is generally responsible for overseeing the direction and governance of Unimelb. It oversees the commercial, social and policy directions of the University and monitors the performance of the Vice-Chancellor.
I'm running for Uni Council because I want to see a University of Melbourne that actually cares about graduate student interests, and advocates for them both internally and externally to ensure that we are all supported in our graduate experience.
All graduate students will have received a BigPulse voting link to their student email.
You can find out more about the candidates and their candidate statements here: https://about.unimelb.edu.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0031/499432/Candidate-Statements-Grad-Student-Council-Election.pdf
and my vision and ideas for University Council here: https://www.instagram.com/ewan4unicouncil/
Happy to answer any and all questions as they come.

Hey guys, I am a bArts student and I am nearing the end of my first year’s second semester. I plan to major in political science, and throughout these two semesters I have thoroughly enjoyed philosophy, politics and BLAW. After completing my bArts I will try for a JD as I want a career in corporate law.
Considering that I enjoy travelling and experiencing new places will JAPN20005 be worth it? If anyone who has done a subject overseas can tell me about their experiences that will be much appreciated.
Most importantly, I am on a CSP right now so a cost overview (if someone is able to guide me on that) would be nice.

Hiya! I'm Jeanette, a Master of Social Policy student, and I'm running for the Graduate Student Member position on the University of Melbourne Council.
A little about me: I've spent the past eight years working across policy, governance and inclusion in government and higher education. I'm also a third-generation public servant, run a community book club, once hosted a mock conclave for fun, and am a Scorpio (due diligence is personal).
So, naturally, I've decided to run for Council.
My postgraduate journey hasn't exactly been linear. I've stepped away from study before, come back, and learnt a lot about balancing work, university and having an actual life outside both.
I believe good governance matters because the decisions made at the top of institutions have real consequences for the people within them. I'd love to bring that perspective, alongside the diverse experiences of graduate students, into Council discussions.
I'm not going to promise to personally fix every problem at UniMelb. Council is a governing body. But I can promise to ask difficult questions, listen to different perspectives and take the responsibility seriously.
If you're a graduate student, I'd love your vote!
Voting closes 12 pm Thursday 22 October, and eligible students should have received their voting link via their UniMelb email.
You can read my candidate statement here:
https://about.unimelb.edu.au/strategy/governance/peak-bodies-structures/university-council/council-election
And if you've got questions about me, my experience, or why someone would voluntarily sign up for more meetings, feel free to ask below!
Serious about governance. Unserious about myself. ✨

I was denied special consideration because my medical certificate demonstrated impact to my ability to work on my assessment after my assessment due date, which makes sense. I saw my GP the day after my assessment was due and he said he was unable to write in my certificate that there was any impact to my studies for the dates before I saw him.
I was genuinely dealing with medical problems before my assessment due date and was unable to get an appointment with my GP until after the date, and I'm just wondering if anyone has some advice of what I could do or say when requesting a review of my special consideration outcome. My assessment is worth 40% of my grade for that subject and I'm really stressed because the report I submitted was so rushed because I was so ill at the time. I know I messed up by not seeing my GP earlier, but I just wanted to know if there is anything I could do to fix things now?

hi everyone, how long have you had to wait for a review for a special consideration application to be approved? Has anyone had a review approved / rejected recently? currently waiting without any idea on rough timelines

It’s so annoying keep getting emails but do I have to or they js want me to
I am planning to do a French major but have only started learning the language when uni started. I am planning to take those two classes alongside French 5 and 6 and I'm wondering for those who did it if it is possible to take a fully French speaking class at that level? Will I be behind vocabulary wise and how lenient are they when it comes to writing a French essay?

Does anyone know if you can get a CSP spot for the Master of Biomedical Science based on WAM?
If so, do they look at your relevant disciplines only or overall WAM? How much $ would this save roughly?

im a first year arts student at unimelb doing law in society. i got a 0 on my second assignment with a comment asking me to make a meeting with the subject coordinator, and im worried it's about academic misconduct.
around the due date i was going through a breakup and a really bad mental health blip. i completely lost track of the deadline until 2 hours before the 1600 word assignment was due. in a panic, i used ai to paraphrase my own ideas and make my writing more cohesive, despite the subject having a strict no ai policy. i know it was wrong and take responsibility for it. this is the first time ive used ai on an assignment like this, and i genuinely regret it.
i understand the arguments i was making and im willing to be honest about what happened, but im terrified about the consequences. i had plans to go on exchange next year and im scared this could ruin my chances.
has anyone been through something similar at unimelb? is resubmission ever possible, how serious could the consequences be for a first offence, and could this affect my exchange eligibility? just looking for honest advice because im genuinely stressing that ive ruined my future over one stupid decision.

Hello, I'd love to hear about this major from people who have taken it. Did you have a particular background that made you interested and how did that apply, what did the assignments look like, did you get to research/write about a particular subject that's had your attention? I'm kind of interested in researching Polari academically. Thanks so much.

I went in for a CAPS counselling session (Friday), after it was done the psychologist said I can either rebook a time now or I would have to rebook again my self but the wait times are about 3 weeks. I silly enough said I’ll rebook as I didn’t think I’d want to rebook so soon. They said if I changed my mind I can ask to be put on a waiting list. However I forgot how they said to get on the waiting list or who to contact
Could anyone help please?

Has anyone here completed this degree? If you can share an overview of the workload and whether you found it helpful for your career goals!
I graduated in finance and accounting from Monash a few years ago and currently work in the renewables energy sector. I don't have an engineering background, but have found the industry really interesting and would like to build a long-term career in energy. I've checked the entry requirements and it looks like I'm eligible to apply, although there are no CSP available.
Thanks!

Hi,
I submitted extension request for an assignment which was due on 12/10 but only received approval today (18/10) on the extension and they extended it for 3 calendar days to 15/10 (like what?). But its now 18th Oct. Is this normal, do I just assume its 3 calendar days from 18th or do I have to contact Stop 1?

I'm tryna review the lab test we had last week to prepare for final and I was dumb enough to forget to jot down the topics on the lab test and totally forgot them now. Do you guys have any memory or notes you took on this? Also would appreciate any thoughts on the lab test as I don't think I ain't getting the grade I hoped.
