Other Be on the lookout

Hi all,

I wanted to share so that people are aware and can hopefully stay safe.

Yesterday afternoon (~5pm) I was walking from Johnson Center to my car parked on a side street on the other side of Central near the Chase Bank when a man in a light gold Chevy sedan began to follow me. I walked towards a couple of people who were having a conversation on the sidewalk and this did not deter him. He just pulled into a parking space and waited. Only after staring him down while I pulled out my phone and called the police did he make a U-turn in the street and leave. The car had a tinted plate cover so I couldn’t read the license plate.

He was slim in build, ~30s yo, with a darker complexion and black hair and facial hair.

I filed a report with APD and campus PD so they are aware, but my coworker said she’s seen him lurking around campus recently so if you see him or he approaches or follows you, please call campus or APD immediately.

Make sure yall download UNM SAFE app it acts as the stationary blue emergency phones and immediately connects you to our dispatcher on campus. So they don’t have to play phone hopper additionally the app allows you to take pictures and it will send over to them. I also believe you can screen share to the dispatcher.
