Hi everyone!
I’m planning to apply for the Master of Development Communication (MDC) program at (UPOU), but I have some concerns about my previous graduate studies.
I previously enrolled in a master’s degree program at another university and attended for three semesters before discontinuing my studies. I never formally filed a Leave of Absence or processed any documents to withdraw, so I believe my status may technically be considered AWOL.
Regarding my grades, I haven’t checked my academic records with the registrar since I stopped attending. During my last semester, I remember being unable to submit my final outputs for some courses, so I’ve always assumed I might not have passed one or two subjects. However, I don’t actually know my official grades, and I have no confirmation that I received INC remarks or failed those courses.
Given these circumstances, would I still be eligible for admission to UPOU’s MDC program? Could my AWOL status or potentially unresolved academic deficiencies from my previous university affect my application, even though I’m applying to a different institution and program?
For anyone who has been in a similar situation or is familiar with UPOU’s graduate admission policies, I’d appreciate hearing about your experience.
Would you recommend contacting my previous university’s registrar first to clarify my academic standing, or should I inquire with UPOU about my eligibility before doing so?
I want to make sure I’m approaching this properly and avoid spending time, effort, and money preparing an application if my previous academic records could prevent me from being admitted.
Thank you in advance for your advice!
