Feels nice to finally be able to use iron and black metal for building. Made a pathway to base from the smelters to carry the metals to the higher mountain side and I can bring a little less than half a cart load each time so pretty nice.

I really like the heavy armor aesthetics (look at that flametal armor, man) and defense, but I can't stand walking like an injured person.
After my third-ish playthrough, I went Troll (medium) Armor instead of Bronze (heavy) and didn't regret it. I think movement is very strong in this game, once you learn how to kite enemies and attack mid-air to reposition your character when using two-handed weapons or when your foes have high move speed.
Can you provide a counterargument to my viewpoint?

2 stacks each of copper and bronze (not enough tin for a stack left)
6 stacks each of silver and black metal
10 stacks each of flammetal and blood gold
36 stacks of iron
Not shown: partial stacks and a few stacks each of iron and black metal left over. It was, admittedly, a 2x server.

Yeah, Forge of Potential, I am marking this as meme at this point, because I have no idea how not to do that.
So, I found a bunch of bugs, that I wanted to share, as well, as real numbers if you want to upgrade your tools legitimately.
Let's go with the bugs:
Cultivator, Scythe and Shovel taking Wooden idols to upgrade? That seems odd. But those are tools, so it sort of make sense probably? I mean surely there aren't any weapons, that would take a wrong idol to upgrade, right?
Nord Atgeir takes a Bronze idol to upgrade
Headdress of the Bear takes a Black Marble Idol to upgrade
Early Axes take Iron Idol to upgrade, I mean, it could be intentional? Maybe? Not really, would it even make sense?
Nord Knucklechains? Yeah, Iron Idol.
At this point, it seems to me like I am spouting nonsense
Nord Axe? Black Metal Idol.
But who would even upgrade Nord weapons, when you are actually using the ones with the gem upgr...
Frostfire Axe, Black Metal Idol
Okay, okay, but still, it's just some random oversights, it's not like they overlooked an entire weapon family...
Splitner, all variants, Black Marble Idol
But okay, they just copy pasted and sometimes forgot to modify, that must mean, they surely haven't missed adding an idol recipe to any of the gear, right? Especially an endgame one, that would be super weird, right?
Helmet of the Protector - No Idol, straight up can't upgrade at FoP
Okay, okay, okay. Enough of that. I mean, surely, surely, there aren't any more bugs related to Forge of Potential?
Turns out that Deep North Weapons and Armor pieces return Moulds, when you break them on FoP. But not Staffs, because screw staffs. But that actually might make a semblance of sense? Because... oh no... oh god... Frostfire and Thunderblood weapons don't return their moulds nor their base weapons... But surely they return the gems you use to upgrade them, right? Right? Please, please, please, tell me they return at least portion of the gems...
NOPE! Not even the Ashlands gemmed weapons.
What do they return? Just the Bloodgold, because, and now hold onto yourselves, that is done on purpose, it is specifically excluded, so that gemmed weapon upgrades would be even worse.
But at least that is intentional, there is no way, that some of them wouldn't return their regular ingredients.
Nord Knucklechains don't refund the Long Claws, why? I have no idea.
Okay, okay, so how bad is it? How bad the Forge of Potential ACTUALLY is? I mean, we have a sort of a baseline? The glows, you get different glows until up to quality 25, so surely that upgrade must be somewhat semi reachable by legitimate means. I mean, I made the original tool, so it won't take much to upgrade it to show the actual costs of ugprades to different levels.
So I did just that: https://melichor.github.io/ValheimSaveParser/ Scroll down to Upgrade Cost
You can input your .fch file or input a Character name to calculate how much resources (included refunds) you would need to spend to reach that target quality. So let's take "Random" character name, Fenris Hood to level 15? That shouldn't be that bad, right...
OH GOD
525 Idols
6815 Fenris Hair
3813 Wolf Pelt
And that is level 15, it gets exponentially worse the higher you go.
Oh and 1 Cultist Trophy, because that gets refunded.
Oh, and since we're talking about the bugs, if you get refunded items and you have no space for it, they drop on the ground except... The stack that gets dropped becomes a singular item of that type. Cool.
I am tackling the rare drops (trophies) next, already found an exploit there.
P.S.: The Forge of Potential mod is in the making by yours truly.

Wish I could play this game for another 300 hours tbh. Maybe I will, but I think I am sad that the crown you get at the end makes enemies passive to you.(deep north spoiler). It makes me feel that now, the world will no longer resist me, and it is a signal that I must put my character to bed. It is the friction of this game and the overcoming of it that I find so addictive and I'm not really an achievement hunter, but who knows!

Hey yall not sure if this is old news but it's new to me as a newer Valheim player. I was noticing my bubble was breaking almost instantly mid fight so naturally i did some testing with the Staff of Protection.
Here's what i found out:
Recasting a shield while the other one is not fully depleted but have already taken damage DOES NOT refresh the hit points absorbed.
When you recast a shield that is already active, the game doesn't clear out the underlying damage tracker or correctly wipe the old entity state rather, it layers the new duration over a ghost of the old health pool.
That means if you panic recast while a bubble is taking a beating, you are practically handing yourself a fake shield that retains the depleted integrity of the last one.
This is important because this fundamentally changes the combat mechanics on how to use this staff safely as there is a brief window of full vulnerability while recasting a new bubble as you wait for the "old" one to break.
This almost got me killed in Ashlands thinking I had a full shield.
I hope this helps newer players who did not understand how Valheim codes their status effects with the Staff of Protection shield barrier.
I'd love to hear the veteran players on any tips and tricks on how they use this amazing staff. Please share your opinions below.

I was getting real bored of tracking down infested mines in the Mistlands and thinking dark thoughts of perhaps giving everything up. The mines were just so damn far between eachother and the Wisp Torches reveal such a small area. I read up on all the tips like how finding three seekeers together should often indicate a nearby mine, but that's definitely not been the case for me. And no matter the size of the mines I've found there was ever only one Sealbreaker Fragment per mine.
Until just now when I walked into what I think is my sixth infested mine. Where within walking distance of the entrance with no enemies other than some tiny Seeker Broods, FIVE Sealbreaker Fragments! I had to pause before venturing further, to write this down.
It can happen to you too, don't give up!
(now to backtrack for more Iron...)
Edit: there was one more fragment further down. No difficult enemies.

New player here. I spend a long time making this stone base. But struggling to make a roof. Trying to make multiple rooms with a flat roof using stone floor 2x2 if possible? Tried using wood beams attaching them to the stone floor. No luck. The wood beams are grounded, but the stone walls are yellow or red even with I attach them to the grounded beam. Please help with any tips or tricks thank you!

Step 1: piss off an entire village
Step 2: knife
Step 3: ????
Step 4: profit
EDIT: 'Why aren't you using Himminafl? Why aren't you popping Bonemass? You could've used better weapons than Skol and Hati'
Calm down. I was in the middle of exploring and I wanted to have a little bit of fun.
I'm playing on a friend's server with unmodified settings.
