Lost Pet Did your cat escape? West End.

There is a striped/spotted grey/brown cat howling in some distress at the corner of Bute and Nelson. I could see it but it ran away. Currently it’s in between 1225 Nelson and the house next door.

Politics and Elections To the election workers: Way to go

It's 13 to 15 hours straight in a school gym or community centre room, doing repetitive tasks all day long, sitting in a hard plastic chair. If you're one of the crazy people like me who sign up for it, good for you, because otherwise democracy can't happen. Good job everyone, see you in 4 years.

Lost wallet near Central Park / East 45th Avenue — Found keys nearby

Hi everyone! I lost my wallet while riding my bicycle today. I started from the Burnaby side of Central Park and continued toward East 45th Avenue in Vancouver, possibly heading toward Victoria Drive. My wallet could have fallen out anywhere along the route, including the cycling or pedestrian paths through Central Park.

It’s a black leather or leather-like wallet with red accents, containing bank cards, ID cards, a Compass Card, and some Colombian cash.

While retracing my route today to look for my wallet, I came across a set of keys (photo attached). Someone had apparently placed them on a fire hydrant. I left them exactly where I found them, so they should still be there if no one has taken them.

If anyone found my wallet or knows if it was handed in somewhere, I’d really appreciate a message. And if the keys belong to you, you may want to check the fire hydrant in the area where the photo was taken.

Thank you!

Discussion I think I finally understand thru-fares on BC Ferries from Vancouver to Salt Spring Island

I consider myself a relatively smart person, but (maybe because of lack of sleep from having a toddler) it took me forever to understand (maybe) the thru-fare system when going from Vancouver -> Victoria -> Gulf Islands.

The key ”ah ha” is that the price of Vancouver to the Gulf Islands is cheaper ($50-60 prepaid) than the price of Vancouver to Victoria ($90-$130 prepaid) even though the former route sometimes goes through Victoria and you travel a longer distance on the ships. I assume this is due to some mix of supply/demand and a desire to keep the gulf islands accessible.

The best way to benefit from this pricing is to get a prepay for the whole route from Vancouver to the Gulf Islands, which will also guarantee the time you arrive. You do not require a thru fare for these. However, the sailing times are very limited.

However, if you’re like me and don’t plan ahead, you can still benefit from this lower fare via the thru-fare. Furthermore, there are a lot more flexible sailing times doing it this way.

So, from Vancouver to the Gulf Islands, you can buy the Vancouver to Victoria leg (prepaid here is fine), and then when you give your ticket, tell them you want to thru fare to the gulf island you are going to, and they will give you that second leg ticket for free.

On the way back from the gulf islands (I’ll use Salt Spring as an example), you’ll need to prove that you came from a Gulf Island and are not just trying to go from Victoria to Vancouver, so on the ferry from Salt Spring to Victoria, you need to buy a Thru fare ticket (just buy one adult ticket - $11), which proves that you started your journey from a gulf island. You’ll then arrive to Victoria and do a u-turn to get back into the terminal. When you give them your thru fare ticket, they will then charge you the Salt Spring to Vancouver fare (minus the $11 through fare you already paid), instead of charging you the Victoria to Vancouver fare. When we did that today, we saved $50.

I’m probably explaining something that a lot of people probably already know! But I hope this saves someone some time understanding this. Please correct me if I got anything wrong!

Lost/Missing Lost Keys (East Van)

Hey all, first time doing this but i'm just desperate because i have idk where else to ask apart from making a police report or something.

I lost my keys somewhere along Renfrew while i was running errands between Broadway and 1st. I was ubering around and ended up losing my wallet too (which was fortunately returned to the RBC by Renfrew&1st) but i only realised my keys were missing too when i got home. I spent awhile searching around the neighbourhood but i couldn't find them.

They're attached to a red lanyard, and theres different-coloured clips on them. It also has my compass keychain attached to it.

If anyone living around Hasting-Sunrise has seen something like that around, please shoot me a message!!

gonna be getting an airtag and use it from now on 😭
