code review session turned into an existential crisis. found multiple helper functions named things like "datahandler real final v2" scattered across the repo with 0 documentation. spent an hour just tracing references before using codex via sumus to clean up the logic and restore some sanity to the codebase.

velocity feels great until you have to read your own output a week later.
