I'm gonna be honest, this is exactly the reason why I trust them, or rather, can take a calculated guess that it's gonna turn out well.

obvi, I'm not gonna pay until I can witness it not being a fuckup, but the fact that they got Kenway's VA back, are remaking the "best" AC, instead of starting from the bottom, hell the fact that it was made from the ground up instead of just putting an HD remaster, fixing tailing missions, etc etc.

It just tells me that they've put this one into the DO NOT FUCK UP category, not because of respect like RE2R or RE4R, but because they can't afford to fuck up, they're on the ropes, they're desperate, they want you to like them again.

For the last 10 years they've been coasting on the name of AC while ruining it steadily, that goodwill has officially ran out it seems, they will not fuck up, because they CAN'T fuck this one up.

I don't know. When blizzard showed in game footage of war craft 3 reforged it also looked like they were putting a lot of work into it. And that game was the scam of the century.

I don’t think a company that consistently fucks up can be trusted to make non-fucking up decisions.I would imagine they never intend to fuck up.

How have they been steadily ruining Assassin's Creed? Origins was a breath of fresh air for the series, Odyssey further capitalized on that, Valhalla was bloated but a fun game, haven't played Mirage but at least the beginning of Shadows was great. It's consistently been like a 7-8/10 series since the last Ezio game, and each game has its praisable points. Unity was buggy at launch but is still a graphical masterpiece, and personally has my favorite combat and customization in the series. The only game I haven't liked is Syndicate.

IMO unity was the last good AC game. Origins was alright but pushed souls-like combat over stealth and... well. Assassinations.

But everything after that was an AC flavored RPG that couldnt even really be called a stealth game.

Which is fine. If you like that.

But I miss the games living and dying on social stealth and free running. Even in black flag it was dying.

The games from Origins onward may turn into pure peak after you've really 'gotten started', but the moment Origins' map opened up to me, I was gone w/in 30 minutes. The mind-boggling decision to prevent me, an assassin, from sneaking up on and assassinating enemies too 'high level' for me, is such an instant turn off I wasn't giving the game another chance. Especially because the actual RPG mechanics that are stopping me from playing an AC game like an assassin weren't exactly engaging either.

A better way of viewing it wasn't that Origins was a "breath of fresh air", but an entirely new IP that didn't belong under the AC name. I loved the games all the way through Syndicate and tried to play the new ones and hated them. It's fine if that's what you enjoy, but it should be under a new series or brand entirely.

When people say the series fell off its because what the series was, the essence of the Assassins story, the animus, the real world, was supposed to build and eventually merge together to create a timeline split that led into a modern-day assassin game. That never materialized and they just decided to very loosely use the story as an unnecessary backdrop that contained no meaning in the modern series.

The animation quality and narrative have gotten worse with each release. I loved origins and odyssey but the rpg gameplay has gotten stale and they have barely listened to what the community want.
