Bro it's a meme and memes never lie

54

u/-Hussain May 23 '26

Thanks for reminding me, I was accidentally about to not believe it

6

u/HarrowDread May 24 '26

Henry doesn’t seem to be that kind of person, he seems to be that guy if he has the time he’d talk hours and explain everything about warhammer if you asked

"Mahatma Gandhi be lying on the internet my bitches" - Muhammad Ali Jinnah

13

u/Plenty_Structure_861 May 23 '26

Doesn't matter, I've read enough random stuff about his "pure dedication* to lore accuracy to know exactly what kind of person he is. It's like we know each other and he's one of us /s

5

u/Emergency_Process622 May 24 '26

He seems like a fucking nightmare to work with if even half the shit that comes out about him and sOuRcE material on set are true.

1

u/Ssided May 24 '26

None of it is true

Cavil gunna be close to 90 when they start production

18

u/CreamFuture9475 May 23 '26

Right age to play Commissar Yarrick.

3

u/CrazyTalk123 May 23 '26

Yes Brother!

2

u/Oopsiedazy May 23 '26

I’m really hoping he’s Cain if they’re adapting any of the books. The Ciaphas novels are going to be a lot easier for a mainstream audience to vibe with and if you don’t grab an audience it doesn’t matter how lore-accurate or even good your show is.

2

u/Ramfix_G4 May 23 '26

I had heard something about the Eisenhorn novels being adapted, which are also a good entrypoint

0

u/Remarkable_Pen_3639 May 23 '26

Its got to be the heresy. Got big bombastic characters everywhere, the classic choose your favourite faction like game of thrones had and a overarching story you can easily milk 5 seasons out of.

1

u/Oopsiedazy May 23 '26

It’s be a waste of the entire setting to just focus on a human civil war, and the lack of female characters and sexposition isn’t going to grab the GoT fans like you think it is. If this were an Anime series I’d be all for it, but in live action it would be either boring or the most expensive show ever made.

2

u/docharakelso May 23 '26

Everyone involved has to finish the Black Library before the first pre production meeting can happen.

2

u/MyStationIsAbandoned May 23 '26

if that's what it takes...

2

u/DJWGibson May 23 '26

Plus, its not like many writers are on set,..

1

u/Sirgeeeo May 23 '26

The film is entirely set in a writers room... a lore accurate writers room

63

u/Fyrefanboy May 23 '26

I don't know why some people get such hard on about imaginary requests or comment from Cavill

41

u/RetnikLevaw May 23 '26

Because having someone who has played a peak nerd character like Superman be an actual raging nerd himself is a novelty.

Most actors don't care about the source material of whatever they're working on. They show up, read the lines, get paid, and that's it. Henry actually cares about the characters he's playing because he actually cares about the source material.

That's it. It's literally that simple. People who are neck deep in these hobbies are just clinging to the basically one guy in Hollywood who cares as much as they do about that hobby.

11

u/New_Cockroach_505 May 23 '26

You mean the same Cavill that thought the Witcher books were based on the games lol?

21

u/RetnikLevaw May 23 '26

Yes, the same Cavill that made an incorrect statement about whether the books or games came first, then corrected his mistake and went back to read the books.

u/Senzafane May 23 '26

Have you seen the man? The hard ons are self explanatory, some people just haven't put two and two together yet.

More to your point, yeah some people just need to chill out.

4

u/not_old_redditor May 23 '26

Also could be something simpler, like Cavill is the definition of what men thing women want, and the only way they know how to express it is to joke about hard ons.

2

u/Muted-Code-5447 May 23 '26

I don't care who you are, but if that man walks into the same room as me, I'm going to get weak.

27

u/LivingClone13 May 23 '26

Writers aren't typically on set and production hasn't even started.

Total fabrication.

8

u/MobiusDie May 23 '26

This was click bait BS.

51

u/PuddingJello May 23 '26

While I do appreciate the sentiment... as a 40k fan it's also like Which codex? which edition? Which book series? Which author? James workshop themselves are hardly capable of lore accuracy. I also don't mind because it honestly fits the setting. Why should I trust any information from any faction in 40k? Except maybe the Orks and Nids.

21

u/shadowthehh May 23 '26

I assume whichever codex is obviously relevant.

"Hey, Henry. I wanna do this with these Blood Angels."

"Read the [most recent Blood Angels] Codex."

3

u/thrasymacus2000 May 23 '26

Orks have been known to use made up citations.

2

u/PuddingJello May 23 '26

So 1D4chan was an Ork website this whole time

4

u/squirtnforcertain May 23 '26

I mean, any codex edition is better than no codex.

3

u/PuddingJello May 23 '26

I mean I was mostly joking that lore changes codex to codex, edition to edition so being "lore accurate" in 40k is more of an ask than most other IPs

2

u/ZhanBlue May 23 '26

Those would be good questions if this wasn’t made up

3

u/Ordinary_Weekend_333 May 23 '26

"Good morning Hen..."

"READ THE CODEX BEFORE YOU SPEAK TO ME, LEST I CALL DOWN UPON YOU THE FULL FURY OF JAMES WORKSHOP!"

1

u/DarthSnoopyFish May 23 '26

He probably provided everyone with the packets of info pertaining to what he wants everyone to know.

1

u/lindendweller May 23 '26

And those last two will tear your face off rather than try to lie to you. Honesty is so refreshing.

1

u/myCockatielshateme May 23 '26

you can switch 40k with Christianity, and your comment will still make sense lol

1

u/aXeOptic May 24 '26

I think your questions are the answers hes looking for.

0

u/Real_Piccolo_3370 May 23 '26

Some of you guys deliberately try to make 40k canon seem more complicated than it is. It is not that difficult to get a basic understanding of an army by reading their codex. GW doesnt even list codex authors, and why would Cavill mean anything other than the most recent edition? Yeah there is a couple of minor inconsistencies across the thousands of stories, but the stupidest part of the fandom is anytime people are discussing the lore theres always that one guy insisting nothing is canon and its just silly.

1

u/MsMercyMain May 23 '26

Tbf, it's meant to be somewhat inconsistent. Last I checked GW's official stance is that everything is canon, but it's all canon in universe to let people pick and choose. Since really 40k's lore is just meant to be a backdrop for, as /tg/ put it, Your Dudes. It's why it's the one franchise I really don't care about hyper lore accuracy in

u/RustedAxe88 May 23 '26

Quotes that did not happen.

7

u/MaxaM91 May 23 '26

Slap "Henry Cavill" and something gamer-y on a picture and everyone will believe anything.

4

u/CvokCZ May 23 '26

How does anyone really believe that? I like Cavill as an actor, but let's be realistic, his position as a producer is more of a PR one, maybe someone will listen to his advice but he certainly doesn't have the final say. It's just important to note that the producer position is used for many things these days, from advertising reasons to an honorary position.

11

u/SuperArppis May 23 '26

I doubt this is true.

1

u/Kaybuz May 23 '26

It probably isn't true, but it made me remember that whole situation with the witcher on netflix and how the writers wanted to take dumb creative liberties with the source material and Henry pushed back on some of those

2

u/PrimaLegion May 23 '26

I wonder how much of that is even true.

2

u/Hyakkihei1 May 24 '26

Everything about that is internet rumors, the people who worked with him knew for a long time that Henry wanted to move on to other roles and he left a good message for his replacement.

All this Henry Cavill is a warrior for the source material is purely an internet myth with zero backing from the man himself.

2

u/NICOLEISDEAD May 23 '26

It’s not true Henry Caville thinks Geralt just grunts all the time. He appreciates the character no more than any executive at Netflix.

1

u/Zalvren May 23 '26

Considering it didn't even start production, it's certainly false

3

u/SuperArppis May 23 '26

And think what a nightmare that kind of person would be to work with.

4

u/LukeSparow May 23 '26

Yes total asshole behaviour.

He is

2

u/TheSuggestionMark May 23 '26

I'm inclined to agree.

It's great that he was so passionate about The Witcher, it made for an incredible portrayal. But some of the things I've heard about how he acted on set make him sound like a nightmare to work with. Like he's going to comment on every little thing and try to have it changed because he's Nerd Jesus and he's the only one who really cares. Input is great but actively talking shit about how inept everybody in production is, is poor form.

Kind of sounds a lot like the reason we don't see Ed Norton a lot anymore. He was just an all around pain in the ass, slowing down production so he could give notes and demand changes. Thing is, Cavill isn't half the actor Norton is.

It's good he's an executive producer on Warhammer, because he's putting in the money to give him the power to make all those calls.

2

u/AnAngryPlatypus May 23 '26

With him I always think of Jon Hamm’s character in 30 Rock. Lives in a handsome bubble where the world is better and he can do no wrong.

Gif of him excelling at tennis. He was so good a woman asked for him to give her lessons.

https://giphy.com/gifs/4LTGEdPSy2pvhFBOXAJy

5

u/Rath_Brained May 24 '26

I think that's why he left the Witcher show. Henry Cavill is a fucking nerd and we love him for it. He wants accuracy, because alot of things have really great lore.

Hollywood wants to dumb things down or put their own terrible spins that result in lackluster things because they want plebian shmucks to be able to enjoy it who otherwise don't care or would be interested in learning about it.

1

u/Hyakkihei1 May 24 '26

It's not, he wanted to leave the show for a long time because there were other roles he was interested in.

3

u/Traditional-Context May 23 '26

What part of This meme relates to videogames???

3

u/jawknee530i May 23 '26

The weird obsession with this dude by nerds is baffling. Guys will mock women for reading magazines about celebrities then turn around and do the same shit to whatever celebrities they decided are actually the "good" ones.

6

u/Marius_Gage May 23 '26

If you believe this I have some magic beans to sell you

4

u/hopeless_case46 May 23 '26

Reminds me of The Expanse series. Lots of little details in the show that make it a bit more scientifically accurate

5

u/whoisdatmaskedman May 24 '26

He's not going to take the chance at having another Witcher 3 situation. He's standing up for nerd rights.

2

u/SinesPi May 23 '26

"The Codex of the Astartes is outdated Imperium Dogma. Your rigid adherence to it is why the Imperium rots from within. I know better than to waste time negotiating with a Space Marine, but with your defeat we will happily reveal the rot in your empire, and offer your people a place in the Greater Good."

2

u/whyamihere2473527 May 23 '26

His rules didnt help with witcher

→ More replies (4)

2

u/Internet-Dweller2 May 23 '26

"the codex" ah yes, the famously singular 40k codex. There's only one that people need to read to understand not just the game, but the whole IP. The codex.

When I see something about this project that isn't a meme, I might believe it, but until that time it's worth noting that just because something is a meme doesn't mean that it's true

2

u/Derpykins666 May 23 '26

Feels kind of fake, mostly because he seems like the type of person who would get excited to inform you of the knowledge he has because he seems like he knows what he's talking about. It's one of his biggest interest. Also pretty sure this isn't even in full production yet, like on set or anything. They're still in the planning stage as far as I know.

2

u/roundelay11 May 23 '26

'Read the entire Horus Heresy series before you even look at me, you filthy secondary.'

2

u/asher030 May 23 '26

I'd make a tongue in cheek comment about the producers wanting to 'tell their own story'....but it's Warhammer. GW will NOT tolerate that trash in the slightest, and not even Hollywood would be spared their lawyer swarms :| If anything, Henry being so hardcore a fan is protecting their liability deductibles

2

u/Exsam May 23 '26

The Codex Astartes does not support this script. -Leandros Cavill (probably)

2

u/jacochran5 May 24 '26

If only the writers for The Witcher had similar rules to abide by.

2

u/ReferenceCool7197 May 24 '26

Isn't this one being funded by Amazon though? I'm afraid they're eventually gonna do him dirty like Netflix did. They don't seem to care about being true to the source material anymore than Netflix

2

u/bshahisau May 24 '26

For 2 seconds i thought he meant chatgpt codex lol

2

u/AcceptablyThanks May 24 '26

He'd never be this big of an asshole about it. He would 100% tell you that you're wrong on something though

7

u/Chrono_Convoy May 23 '26

No faking it til you make it with Cavill

2

u/VermilionX88 May 23 '26

never played a 40k game yet

im waiting for game that features the Battle Nuns

3

u/Ramfix_G4 May 23 '26

You can play as one in the upcoming sequel to Boltgun. There is also a well received VR game about them. Dawn of War also includes a Sororitas campaign too, which has been out for... A while now.

Rogue Trader features one as a companion as well but the game is not about them.

2

u/VermilionX88 May 23 '26

no VR yet

but the upcoming one from the steammachine looks like it might be the one

that said, depending on the price

it will just be a novelty item for me so can't justify spending too much on it

3

u/Merciless972 May 23 '26

Michelle Rodriguez manager is calling the casting agent now.

2

u/blahyaddayadda24 May 23 '26

Im mean I'd watch that

2

u/Merciless972 May 23 '26

Same, she was great in resident evil and dungeons and dragons.

1

u/Wiegarf May 23 '26

Dawn of war has them, the new bolt gun game will have them, and there is a VR game that has them

2

u/LukeSparow May 23 '26

Sounds like a douchebag to me.

1

u/emuchop May 23 '26

Do writers go on set? Figure writing is pretty much done by the time they’re making sets.

1

u/yougotiton May 23 '26

Yes of course. Lots of little changes can occur that writers should be present for. Actors could have different chemistry than the written characters, there may be unforeseen continuity errors. Lines that were really funny at the table may not be landing on set, that sort of thing.

Now did this happen? God no

1

u/OverloadedSofa May 23 '26

No matter what, I’ll assure the people paying the bills gets final word

1

u/LeglessN1nja May 23 '26

My mom had the same rule, I hated it.

1

u/thelongerfart May 23 '26

NO LITTLE GERMAN BOY!

1

u/Low-Championship-856 May 23 '26

Henry when someone suggests something not lore accurate "the Codex Astartes does not support this action"

1

u/Happy_Lee_Chillin May 23 '26

I don’t think he does or thinks that would be cool

1

u/jinreeko May 23 '26

Man, that's dumb

Games Workshop will for sure be ensuring lore accuracy anyways. I've never met a company more protective of their ip than like Disney and The Pokemon Company

1

u/ars_sinistra May 23 '26

Isn't there an Ultramarines movie so bad that no one speaks of it?

1

u/EddPW May 23 '26

this type of fake comment people like spreading around just make the man look bad

youre arent doing him any favors or yourself

1

u/PrimaLegion May 23 '26

Jarvis, I need karma. Make a low effort post jerking off Henry Cavill with unsourced rurmors.

1

u/ars_sinistra May 23 '26

What do I need to do to blow Henry Cavill?

1

u/Logic-DL May 23 '26

"Read the Codex befo-"

"I'm a Black Templar player" - New Writer

1

u/ConfectionTotal8660 May 23 '26

Who's making a Warhammer movie and why do I agree with Henry Cavill beeing in it?

1

u/HatEfficient6898 May 23 '26

I mean if this is a joke or not henry cavill has made it clear hes quite a fan so its likely whatever adaptation would be made would be accurate

1

u/Babiesforfood May 23 '26

"The Codex Astartes does not support this action." -me explaining why I took a day off instead of working 🤣

1

u/iEatPuppies247 May 23 '26

Could work in a Warhammer store with a line like that

1

u/EscapistFrog May 23 '26

Why is Henry making them follow the codex? Is he an ultramarine?

1

u/DoubleShot027 May 23 '26

The codex does not approve this script change.

1

u/DoBotsDream May 23 '26

Honestly, if true, it would be concerning for the quality. I am personally starting to have concerns that Cavill is too close to the fandom to make a good adaptation. I hope I am wrong, but this would make me anxious.

1

u/TinyPidgenofDOOM May 23 '26

see, theres a problem becuase henry might be a Astarties player but more than half the writers might like the other factions more. one might like Deathguard who have their own codex, a couple might like Eldar or dark eldar.

1

u/pichael289 May 23 '26

After his experience on the Witcher I can't blame him. Dude was a fucking walking Witcher encyclopedia and that bitch of a show runner and the writers not only didn't take advantage of that, but they actively mocked the story and thought they could do better. They couldn't.

1

u/Promature May 23 '26

Sounds very necessary. You can’t just ham fist a Warhammer project.

1

u/Wrong-Appointment269 May 23 '26

He is already playing Guilliman

1

u/ionV4n0m May 23 '26

Random Black Templar fan on set: " FUCK THE CODEX"

1

u/Dukoth May 23 '26

isn't this made up?

1

u/unluckyknight13 May 23 '26

I feel it’s more likely overblown he’s known for caring about franchises but I don’t think he’d be this strict

1

u/Shikabane_Sumi-me May 23 '26

I feel executives are still going to find a way to meddle.

1

u/Pootisman16 May 23 '26

I wouldn't mind if this was true.

Would help preventing the atrocity that was the Witcher later seasons.

1

u/AxiosXiphos May 23 '26

Big fan of Henry - he never said this.

1

u/OSRS_Garmr May 23 '26

If only Henry Cavill was in charge of the writing of more fantasy series, they might actually respect the books. Looking at you Witcher and wheel of time.

1

u/Murderboi May 23 '26

I know it’s a meme but after what happened to him on the Witcher I feel that he is gonna have an iron grip on creativity like the frkn Emperor himself.

1

u/Kowel123 May 23 '26

me when i lie

1

u/Dudewhocares3 May 23 '26

If this was real it’s understandable.

He got screwed by dc (no, not James Gunn. DC)

He got screwed by Netflix with the Witcher

I think he’s in the right to be a little strict in regards to this new production

1

u/TyrantJaeger May 23 '26

More of this, please.

1

u/Fortunate_Cycle May 23 '26

The black templars don’t care

1

u/Minimum-Standard-514 May 23 '26

Guy thinks hes calgar or something

1

u/DeliciousLiving8563 May 23 '26

People reposting these is peak "I saw an engagement bot generate an AI headline and took at face value" energy.

1

u/Crococrocroc May 23 '26

This is the second Henry Cavill post I've seen today.

Algorithm be praised.

1

u/Ambitious_Mall9496 May 23 '26

Why are writers so allergic to lore?

1

u/MaguroSashimi8864 May 24 '26

I don’t even know what he’s talking about! I only play the Total Warhammer games! Not the….board stuffs?

1

u/Logical-Penguin May 24 '26

After the third strike Henry Cavill BEATS THE FUCKING SHIT OUT OF YOU (and the producers let him do it). Trust me.

1

u/MitchellEnderson May 24 '26

My favorite part of the show is gonna be when the Hive Mind yells “shadows in the warp” during a combat and each Ultramarine starts rolling their Battle Shock tests while the gaunts just wait patiently because it’s Guilliman’s Command Phase and they need to wait until the next round to act.

1

u/LSDGB May 24 '26

Do we have a source for that?

I see this mentioned a lot but there is never a source.

1

u/Adventurous-Yam2922 May 24 '26

I just hope it doesn't end like with the Witcher

1

u/Random_Emolga May 24 '26

Would rule out a good portion of the 40k fan base who get all their lore from memes and youtubers

1

u/HouseOfWyrd May 24 '26

Cavil is basically a grifter. The "king of the nerds" shtick is a PR gimmick cuz he knows how vocal people in nerd spaces are.

He's never actually proven he has a real interest in any of the stuff he claims he does beyond a few photos of him painting Custodes. I think he said himself he's never played a game of 40K.

1

u/8bitJumbotron May 24 '26

No he didn't lol.

The codex? There's one for each faction, every edition. Which codex is the codex.

1

u/DringleDringle May 24 '26

Which codex? The Orks codex says wildly different things about the Imperium, as does the Craftworlds codex, and the Chaos codices. I guess he means the codex for Ultramarines? The Imperium is a bunch of liars lmao that shit is fake as fuck

1

u/Funucker226 May 24 '26

I’d like him and Sam Witwer to lead the development of any media relating to nerd shit. They get it lol

1

u/oneandonlyswordfish May 24 '26

This has been posted countless times and countless more times has been stated that this is bs

1

u/MagicOrpheus310 May 25 '26

More actors need to start doing this because clearly they don't listen to fans

1

u/Causelessgiant May 25 '26

On one hand I'd understand the desire for "lore accuracy" but on the other idk that you could satisfy every I'm actually asshole even if you tried

1

u/XanderKaiser May 25 '26

Yo if I ever hear this from him in behind the scenes footage I will laugh before yelling at my tv “That’s right bitch”

1

u/Hetros_Jistin May 25 '26

This isn't real, there us no three strike rule. Amazon is not going to risk pissing off the writer's guild and the MASSIVE amount of money they would lose from lawsuits if they allowed this.

1

u/Sylassian May 26 '26

"The Codex Astartes does not support this costume design."

1

u/Glittering-Pin-1343 May 23 '26

It's called having standards and doing your job correctly. Praise this man, he is bringing the much needed quality back to the movie industry.

1

u/SlayJayR17 May 23 '26

Reason he left the Witcher.

1

u/maxxx_it May 23 '26

Yeah this never happened 😂 for 1. Its not even in production and 2.This will never come out like most of Cavill's carrier, its over hyped and not much to him than "omg he's a nerd and a chad!"

0

u/Alert-Principle-2726 May 23 '26

Oh Cavill, the most fuckable nerd on the planet.

0

u/Altruistic_Exit7947 May 23 '26

On one hand, its cool he pays attention to detail, on the other.. im not sure if he can go about everything like this and still make it good. Lets hope he is not going to change into moody primadonna or um'ackshually guy.

Fair enough, i wouldn't want him to enshitify the topic either for wider audience.

Im just bit reserved because i heard some stuff about his behaviour on sets and how hard it is to work with him. I just hope that if he starts this one, he will stick with it to the end.

You hate someone because people like him?
