Fifa/FC I'm not really much of a sports guy in general, but yeah never got into it

I am a sports guy and FIFA's crap

u/Op3rat0rr Aug 19 '26

It's not a bad simulator if you don't play FUT lol. You can actually apply the defensive and offensive set up structure in real life to help yourself and team

But yea it gets arcade-y quietly with some game modes but that's ok

3

u/katsounami Aug 19 '26

It IS a bad simulator. 10 years ago it was great, but now? Ew

2

u/j4fmemo Aug 19 '26

Here comes my old ass. That has played soccer games since. International superstar 64. And fifa 99. I don’t play in real life and fifa always hits the spot. I dont care for all the gambling and different game modes other than playing a few matches.

4

u/Op3rat0rr Aug 19 '26

Nah man. I played EAFC25 and in a lot of ways the realistic normal mode is better

u/katsounami Aug 19 '26

I played every Fifa since PES 2008, I know that I'm talking about 😅😅 idk how old you are/when you started playing the series, but trust me, it was way better then. I get the idea of the "new" defence type, back then. In a simulator it was, in theory, a great idea. But something along the way didn't click, it was fine-ish for a few years, but then every year it just seems to get worse and worse, sadly. I have up buying the game eventually and play a bit when it's free on PS Plus service, but I feel the same every single year lol.

u/Bootybusterog Aug 19 '26

I did too and it rlly wasn’t that much better back then it’s mostly just nostalgia blindness. Idk if u mean pes or fifa but Fifa career used to have different options but the most depth in management u had was custom positions on the pitch. the new games did add a lot of strategy

-1

u/katsounami Aug 19 '26

I meant FIFA, specifically. I was the guy in my group of friends that started playing ISS2 while everyone was still playing FIFA, and the started to see the FIFA potential in 2009 while everyone was playing PES 2009 and so one, calling me mad 😅

Idk how really to explain it, but since they changed the defense, and later made it almost mandatory, I feel at some point, the players started to kinda slightly "drift" in the pitch with the new system, and it made defending extremely frustrating for me, to the point to eventually just almost stopped playing. Which was really sad, because I absolutely loved early editions of FUT

2

u/Bootybusterog Aug 19 '26

idk bro defence has always been mandatory lol it’s soccer have u ever played in real life 😂? i meant more so career mode tho i never got into ultimate team to be honest, that’s what i meant by better sim

1

u/katsounami Aug 19 '26

Of course, I still play with my friends irl, even tho I'm getting a bit old 🥲

0

u/Op3rat0rr Aug 19 '26

He’s living in denial or never played soccer competitively lol. I mean that’s ok and all. Don’t have to play to enjoy the sport

1

u/Quinlan313 Aug 23 '26

You are very likely just not cognitively able to function the same way anymore. That isn't a long enough time to become that bad at something you supposedly play every year. I genuinely recommend getting a brain scan, this is very likely early onset alzheimers or dementia. You cannot lose the ability to play a game that you buy every year and play constantly.

1

u/katsounami Aug 23 '26

Are you a doctor or smt?

1

u/EnderMB Aug 20 '26

The problem is FUT (or whatever it's called nowadays) makes more money than actual game sales. There's no incentive to make the core game good because they've managed to successfully hook a generation on microtransactions.

I used to like FIFA, and The Journey was probably the best, most unique thing they did for many years - but the game itself is now a vessel for FUT.

1

u/Op3rat0rr Aug 20 '26

It's still not a bad football stimulator. It's easy to notice if you actually played competitive football

1

u/EnderMB Aug 20 '26

It's one of those classic games where it's realistic....up until some utter bullshit happens that would never happen in real life (except sometimes said bullshit does happen in real life).

1

u/Op3rat0rr Aug 20 '26

It statistically happens in real life. Not in the nature at which is shows graphically. Look how many times around the world last season where defenders passed back to their keeper and their keeper completely missed it, resulting in an own goal. Or when strikers completely wiffed sitters at an open goal

1

u/thorsrightarm Aug 21 '26

Not really. AI is quite terrible with moving around the ball so it limits your offense. Same goes for defense. FM is much better for simulating tactics.

2

u/ThisHatRightHere Aug 19 '26

Yeah, I'm a huge gamer and a huge sports fan and I have never been able to stand any of these. Dabbled a bit with FIFA and Madden in college when I was hanging out with people, but just don't get how people play for hours on end by themselves.

1

u/GaryGoalz12 Aug 20 '26

I'm much more of a football manager guy

2

u/Dry_Estate_6997 Aug 20 '26

I’m a fifa guy and fifa’s crap

2

u/SirHateful17 Aug 19 '26

2K more so

1

u/xdanish Aug 22 '26

FIFA used to be goat tho, I remember playing on playstation 2 with my family from US and from Denmark. Goddamn, those were some good days :) I haven't played any of the recent fifa so I cant give opinions, and last FC i played was maybe 2022?

25

u/Suspicious_Brush4070 Aug 19 '26

There are millions of FIFA fans and we all think it sucks lol... unfortunately it's the most developed football game available.

10

u/gmoss101 Aug 19 '26

Konami really fucked up by self destructing PES with efootball.

Forced me to buy FC24 so I could play career mode

2

u/katsounami Aug 19 '26

My playstation 2 with the PES6 disc in it disagrees 🤣

I'm kinda joking, but unless you mean exclusively online play, there are a few older FIFA's from the 10's decade much better than the newer ones

2

u/z123zocker Aug 19 '26

I would rather play e football that shit is free

2

u/goldfish_11 Aug 19 '26

I just got FC26 after not having played the franchise in 5+ years...

I play that game on one difficulty and I win every game 10+ to 0

I play that game on the very next difficulty and I lose every game 4 to 0

I know I'm just bad but it makes the game unplayable for me.

1

u/Suspicious_Brush4070 Aug 20 '26

This has been a problem for years. If you do some googling, you'll find some specific slider settings that players have found that make the game feel much better, and fairer.

7

u/Haiquli Aug 19 '26

Predictable and generic reddit farm ass reply.

8

u/iamthehankhill Aug 19 '26

Acting as if it’s a hot take lmao this happens every thread

2

u/AdTypical6386 Aug 19 '26

Most sports games are dogshit, undisputed 3 is lit tho.

2

u/The_Tooter_Snooter Aug 19 '26

The one good thing I can say about FIFA is that one time I went to my friends house for a World Cup game and they had a FIFA game on the tv and I didn’t realize it was a video game for like a full 5 mins. I wasn’t watching closely, just kinda outta the corner of my eye but it’s the first game I’ve seen that my brain just accepted it as reality first. That’s the only thing positive I can say about the franchise.

2

u/lcr68 Aug 19 '26

I owned fifa 02, and then got into it around ‘08 and didn’t stop playing until 2016 or so. I loved the game and learned players through the game instead of watching them play in real life.

The amount of fury and rage I would get when a terrible team is catching up to my fastest player because the system wants to keep the game competitive is ridiculous. I wouldn’t use the superstars but it still felt like the old Mario kart rubber banding effect if someone is better than their opponent.

I cut it out of my life and the amount of stress has decreased. I hated the FUT mode as well because I feel the game shouldn’t be a card collecting/pack opening/p2w type game.

1

u/Foxy_Twig Aug 19 '26

I'm a football guy, even have a season ticket for my local team, and after Fifa 20 I gave up. Game made me so irrationally angry because it points you in the direction of playing online, where they can make the most money, and proceeds to kneecap you and script the gameplay. After breaking my 2nd controller in 6 months I called it quits.

1

u/James1887 Aug 19 '26

Really bucking the trend there /s

1

u/CraziestBoyEver Aug 19 '26

I cant see why this opinion would have you in the situation shown in the picture

1

u/MattMerica Aug 19 '26

Add Madden and 2k

1

u/BtheBST Aug 19 '26

Because fuck ea and that lootbox shit

1

u/Lime221 Aug 19 '26

sports game deserve a spot to exist, but why repackage the same meal every year

that needs to be clowned and bullied

1

u/kakashiweird Aug 19 '26

im a sport guy and dont give a fuck of fifa/fc, pes till i die

1

u/CactusSplash95 Aug 19 '26

Lmfao sports videogames aren't even worth a mention

1

u/DarthNihilus1 Aug 19 '26

Yeah this is a big one for folks. Funnily enough I think FIFA 22 of all the installments was their last decent one

1

u/Volotor Aug 20 '26

All the good competitors died and now they don't bother to develop the game because they rake in millions from live service multiplayer only modes regardless of how broken it is. Its sometimes a fun time sink in single player, but it lacks the magic it once had.

1

u/DustinTheBold2 Aug 20 '26

Play the older FIFAs. I wont buy 27

1

u/Amadeus404 Aug 20 '26

What an original take

1

u/lumi1375 Aug 20 '26

Im like this but with modern Madden. Its such bullshit. I could rant for hours but I wont.

1

u/IndividualAsleep2508 Aug 20 '26

It's only good if you play against you're friends irl. Like you meet up and just play. Great bonding game. Online multiplayer I know is just cancer.

1

u/zirothehiro10 Aug 21 '26

my muscle memory made me scroll past this because i thought it was an ad. fuck fifa

1

u/Lumpy_Complexion6908 Aug 23 '26

look... sports and fighter games... are only good with your siblings... or friends...

and a fifa game coming out every fucking year is insane... I got like fifa 94 on n64, and fifa '19 on ps3... and thats all the fifa i need lol
