It's not a bad simulator if you don't play FUT lol. You can actually apply the defensive and offensive set up structure in real life to help yourself and team

But yea it gets arcade-y quietly with some game modes but that's ok

It IS a bad simulator. 10 years ago it was great, but now? Ew

Here comes my old ass. That has played soccer games since. International superstar 64. And fifa 99. I don’t play in real life and fifa always hits the spot. I dont care for all the gambling and different game modes other than playing a few matches.

Nah man. I played EAFC25 and in a lot of ways the realistic normal mode is better

I played every Fifa since PES 2008, I know that I'm talking about 😅😅 idk how old you are/when you started playing the series, but trust me, it was way better then. I get the idea of the "new" defence type, back then. In a simulator it was, in theory, a great idea. But something along the way didn't click, it was fine-ish for a few years, but then every year it just seems to get worse and worse, sadly. I have up buying the game eventually and play a bit when it's free on PS Plus service, but I feel the same every single year lol.

I did too and it rlly wasn’t that much better back then it’s mostly just nostalgia blindness. Idk if u mean pes or fifa but Fifa career used to have different options but the most depth in management u had was custom positions on the pitch. the new games did add a lot of strategy

I meant FIFA, specifically. I was the guy in my group of friends that started playing ISS2 while everyone was still playing FIFA, and the started to see the FIFA potential in 2009 while everyone was playing PES 2009 and so one, calling me mad 😅

Idk how really to explain it, but since they changed the defense, and later made it almost mandatory, I feel at some point, the players started to kinda slightly "drift" in the pitch with the new system, and it made defending extremely frustrating for me, to the point to eventually just almost stopped playing. Which was really sad, because I absolutely loved early editions of FUT

He’s living in denial or never played soccer competitively lol. I mean that’s ok and all. Don’t have to play to enjoy the sport

You are very likely just not cognitively able to function the same way anymore. That isn't a long enough time to become that bad at something you supposedly play every year. I genuinely recommend getting a brain scan, this is very likely early onset alzheimers or dementia. You cannot lose the ability to play a game that you buy every year and play constantly.

Are you a doctor or smt?

The problem is FUT (or whatever it's called nowadays) makes more money than actual game sales. There's no incentive to make the core game good because they've managed to successfully hook a generation on microtransactions.

I used to like FIFA, and The Journey was probably the best, most unique thing they did for many years - but the game itself is now a vessel for FUT.

It's still not a bad football stimulator. It's easy to notice if you actually played competitive football

u/EnderMB Aug 20 '26

It's one of those classic games where it's realistic....up until some utter bullshit happens that would never happen in real life (except sometimes said bullshit does happen in real life).

1

u/Op3rat0rr Aug 20 '26

It statistically happens in real life. Not in the nature at which is shows graphically. Look how many times around the world last season where defenders passed back to their keeper and their keeper completely missed it, resulting in an own goal. Or when strikers completely wiffed sitters at an open goal

u/thorsrightarm Aug 21 '26

Not really. AI is quite terrible with moving around the ball so it limits your offense. Same goes for defense. FM is much better for simulating tactics.

Yeah, I'm a huge gamer and a huge sports fan and I have never been able to stand any of these. Dabbled a bit with FIFA and Madden in college when I was hanging out with people, but just don't get how people play for hours on end by themselves.

I'm much more of a football manager guy

FIFA used to be goat tho, I remember playing on playstation 2 with my family from US and from Denmark. Goddamn, those were some good days :) I haven't played any of the recent fifa so I cant give opinions, and last FC i played was maybe 2022?
