I bought GTA V full price almost on release .

Played like 30min and it didn't rly click with me.

Played couple hours more over the next days and it just wasn't my kind of game .

I have played 1 2 3 vice city and San Andreas multiple times but the modern ones just aren't the kind of games I want to play anymore .

I got 0 interest in GTA 6 because of that .

Nobody has any kind of problem with you not being interested in a game. What would make you a weird ass loser is if you spend 5 years after its release going to the games fan sub to constantly reiterate how disinterested in the game you are. Those are the people this video is about.

I knew a guy exactly like this

Im in a warhammer discord cause I really like the total war warhammer series and there was this guy who got really upset at the game after an update and stopped playing but was constantly active in the discord so he could complain

And pretty much everyday he would start off with "i dont play this game anymore" or "I havent played this game in (x amount of time)"

And maybe im an asshole but I couldnt help but start making fun of him for it by replying with "well theres our daily reminder that X isn't playing the game"

People love inserting themselves into conversations to remind them "hey, my opinion is different then yours, and that makes me better than you."

They have become a lot more almost like a life simulator type of experience since GTA4. Always very technically impressive with cutting edge graphics with interesting stories and worlds but they have lacked a certain game feel to them that can make them less focused on being just pure fun.

In what way do tou think gta 5 was a simulator? I can sort of understand Red dead 2 but I dont get gta 5

2

u/epicurious_elixir Aug 29 '26

Yeah I think you're right, actually. GTA5 backed off of a lot of the life simmy stuff that GTA4 had.

Yeah honestly it was RDR2 that I couldn't work up the interest (or time) to play.

RDR1 is one of my favorite games, probably top 25 at least - but it was way more fast paced than RDR2 was. I get the appeal and I appreciate that having fully animated item pickups, having to wash and clean your guns and shave and bathe and take care of your horses is going to be incredible for some, but there's a reason you don't have to spend 25% of The Last of Us looking for a decent place to take a shit or something, or for Kratos to have to change the bandages on his wounds to avoid infection.

It's just not for me anymore, and that's okay, I guess. Mechanical depth took priority over pace and story-telling, in my eyes.

u/Roryff Aug 29 '26

Completely understand, its why I never replayed the game always went to but just couldnt get past the snow.

The story element of RD2 was in my opinion absaloutly fantastic and genuinely got me in the feels a few times.. but I do get your point about pace

If there's ever a hypothetical where the best story in human history is written, but every other page is just filler - I'm not reading it, sorry.

Looking back on it, RDR2 is just going on my mental shelf where One Piece is: I'm sure it's a wonderful story and I have nothing against its fans, but there's just far too much filler for me to get through. (On that note, I'm aware OP is being reworked, may watch that).

For 2013 it was pretty simulator-like, as trying to be as close to real physics and life as possible before the crazy weapons/missions. Other than Just Cause or Sleeping Dogs not much else came close to open world immersion

u/Josgre987 Aug 29 '26

The only gta game that felt like a simulator is San Andreas

Weird to be downvoted for this. Im the same. I loved GTA3 as a kid (played it again recently). But I cant stand GTA5. The driving in the game is unironically worse than it was in 3 and it just completely killed the game for me

u/humanctl Aug 29 '26

who tf is down voting bro hhhhhh, cant he have an opinion?

7

u/rvasko3 Aug 29 '26

I mean, it's not a "downvote if you hate this guy and don't think he should have an opinion" system. It's "upvote if you agree" and "downvote if you disagree." Expressing dislike for a popular game series when people are hyped for the next one is likely gonna lead to downvotes.

Maybe you and "butt hurt fanatics are creating multiple accounts on Reddit" complainer you're defending should just not take it so personally.

Butt hurt fanatics are multi accounting to mass down vote anyone who goes against their cult-like group think

You’re writing fanfiction about strangers on Reddit

1

u/raginghavoc89 Aug 29 '26

Ive pretty much stop giving anything but the most lukewarm of opinions and delete most of my comments on Reddit because this is exactly what happens.

Cool, it's fine

I had that same feeling, but then my car jumped over a cliff and landed on a motorway looking out over a rippling sea at sunset while Snoop Dogg played on the radio and it clicked

2

u/Competitive_Angle_59 Aug 29 '26

well this isn’t gonna be like gta 5… if you’ve seen anything it’s like rdr2

u/Kooky_Flamingo_3066 Aug 29 '26

Same bro, I played 3, 4, SA and VC, but I couldnt get into gta5 and now I dont even care about 6.

2

u/seraph741 Aug 29 '26

That's cool, but that's not the point of the video. The point is people who shit on it just because they don't like it. They can't let other people like it. If you want to say "not for me" and move on, cool. If you want to say "admittedly the game looks impressive, but it's still not for me" then that's even better. The problem is people shitting on the game and putting blame on the game instead of their own personal preferences/tastes. Not everything is for you, and that's ok.

Vice City was SOOOO good. Got to live out my Miami Vice fever dreams.

I get this. The earlier games felt a lot more like a sandbox and even the missions felt like extensions of the sandbox, and a lot more like you were in control of the character and what exactly happens. If you'd played the same mission before, for example, you could place a C4 ahead of time and explode it at the right second to end the mission easy. Now, they all feel a lot like cinematic experiences and the sandbox is sort of a side thing, and feels like something you're not really supposed to be doing in lieu of the bespoke, animated, railroaded, heavily scripted missions. It feels like any other modern FPS with a story.

I had more sandbox fun playing Just Cause 2 than GTA V.

being a pc player I already wasn't interested due to it being likely a year out for a pc port and the preview didn't really change my interest. I'm sure it going to be fine but I'm not really aching to play it.

u/UnusualStephen Aug 29 '26

It’s not even a crime game anymore. It’s just spicy sims

u/Kain_713 Aug 29 '26

Me too actually. I played V some but it felt like every time something got updated, they made it worse somehow. I don't even care about 6 now. Good bad or indifferent, I won't be buying it.

u/State-Special Aug 29 '26

Same story for me except i bought it used as my second game in a bogo half off sale at a pawn shop for 2.50

u/OSS-Corpo-Shit Aug 29 '26

Loved vice city. Played it for hundreds of hours.

But 5 also really didn’t click for me after giving it 10 or so hours. I don’t imagine 6 will either, but I’ll give it a fair shake when it goes on sale.
