The state of modern gaming everything in general

So much of the average person's discourse and interactions shifting to online spaces has been a huge negative for our culture

97

u/Emmix_x0x Aug 29 '26

THHIIIISSSS everything someone do is cringe. U like something specific? U r nerd or weirdo or childish. Wheres people u collected cool unique stuff? Dressed differently or wear their hair some awesome way? Had some odd hobby?

Everything seems so black and white in ideology, its suffocating

38

u/ImpressiveAmount4684 Aug 29 '26

People in general are increasingly miserable. They feel great joining a community of miserable people, whatever they are crying about.

misery loves company

22

u/KayleeKutie Aug 29 '26

I feel like people haven't changed too much, it's just that social media naturally promotes very extreme opinions on things (which usually end up being negative). Most people have lukewarm takes on things which doesn't generate as much interest/likes; this also leads people to tend towards parroting extreme opinions if they don't want to have a more nuanced take. I think it's really important to talk to people about topics IRL rather than just getting the ragebaity internet consensus.

9

u/ImpressiveAmount4684 Aug 29 '26

Oh for sure, social media is hyperengineered to amplify hate engagement.

9

u/csando96 Aug 29 '26

Hey, hey everyone!!!!

Look at these losers agreeing!

7

u/emuccino Aug 29 '26

Criiiiiiinge

1

u/Kwestyung Aug 31 '26

It wasn't always like this though, something changed.

1

u/Exoticbut Aug 29 '26

Maybe everyone just got more pessimistic during COVID and for some people it stuck after lockdown.

1

u/SolsticeSon Aug 29 '26

Most social media algorithms, especially Meta’s, favor divisive content because it “looks” like engagement. Just go on Threads for 5 seconds and you’ll encounter more bitching and e-rage than you could imagine.

1

u/ImpressiveAmount4684 Aug 29 '26

Lol each new social media platform just sounds more full of degenerates.

8

u/Yopis1980 Aug 29 '26

It's because they grew up in YouTube and apps. Every thumbnail is best ever. Of all time. Worst ever nonsense. They need to be told what to think.

4

u/OneBigRed Aug 30 '26

This. Should i play this game i bought, or spend my time watching someone else play it and tell me if it’s good or not? A question that sounds ridiculous to me, but apparently the latter option is very popular among younger generation.

Not only that, but then they’ll come here and confidently tell how the latest drop is shit and this and that is the meta and those things are shit as they are not the meta.

Oh how much better many online games would be if these droolers didn’t have these sources spelling everything out for them. I mean, it doesn’t actually seem like their strength is to dissect strategies and tactics and methodically evaluate them. Developers wouldn’t have to prioritize fixing slight imbalalances in their games, as those wouldn’t be instantly abused by majority of their player base.

3

u/Fn_Spaghetti_Monster Aug 30 '26

I saw video just today that was about a solar molten salt power plant and it was They Cannot turn it off!! Watched a bit because, wow that seems kinda odd. Ohh so they actually can turn it off, just if they do, and they leave if off for too long, the salt cools and solidifies and it kind of fucks things up. Soo annoying.

2

u/kelley38 Aug 30 '26

There so much hyperbole thrown around. "This the GOAT", "I'm obsessed with this thing", "I must have OCD", "they are a narcissist", etc etc.

No, that thing is just pretty good, but that doesnt make it the greatest thing ever. No, you are not obsessed with that thing, you are just into that thing. No, you dont have OCD, you just dont want to live in a pigsty. No, they arent a narcissist, they just did something mildly selfish... juat like and I and everyone else does, that juat makes us human, not narcissistic.

Quit making words meaningless.

6

u/Decloudo Aug 29 '26

People seem scared to be authentic for some reason.

Especially regarding emotions.

2

u/Prestigious-Elk2252 Aug 29 '26

two sides to that coin.

The internet also created spaces for people to find others who are also passionate about their chosen niche/hobby/whatever... no matter how obscure it is.

1

u/zacyzacy Aug 29 '26

I'm not lining up to get gta day one or anything but it does looks really cool, but anyway I'd much rather hang out with a "normie" who's exited to play than a "gamer" who poo-poos everything and seemingly hates all video games.

Is there a word for this? The people in between normies and nerds, who are kind of miserable no matter what? The ones who typically are also weirdly gate keepy. not using normie derogatorily here btw.

1

u/EvilWaterman Aug 31 '26

Social media needs to go

1

u/teddy5 Aug 30 '26

U like something specific? U r nerd or weirdo or childish. Wheres people u collected cool unique stuff? Dressed differently or wear their hair some awesome way? Had some odd hobby?

That's actually gotten better since people have been using the internet and being exposed to more ways of living though?

To the extent that the lack of monoculture in societies being caused by the internet has been written about pretty extensively. It used to be that everyone had the same shows they watched and music they listened to because that was what was on. If you didn't like something you turned off the radio/TV or didn't listen while it was on instead of just finding other things online. But everyone expected you to have roughly the same tastes or one of a few sets.

It might just be me getting old and my cohort growing up more but that social pressure to conform to the same standards seems like it started to get less around 2000 and has decreased more since.

Everything being considered cringe and hating on anything people like will probably always be a problem in school because that's the nature of kids trying to find their place in the world, but it generally seems better outside of that.

9

u/Capybarhigh Aug 29 '26

It pisses me off so bad. You can have nuanced takes, and you'll be downvoted immediately without any comments, because they simply can't argue at all. And when they do, it always devolves into some terrible argument where they draw themselves in a corner, if they engage.

I am thinking about running a local AI model on webpages to just filter out all the terrible short takes out of existence, so I can enjoy the people having good takes and just ignore all the noise. Someone posts a short dumb answer while taking a air of superiority and boom, straight to baby jail, I'll never know you even exist. The fucking dream.

3

u/Zakkullll Aug 30 '26

More and more im seeing any level of disagreement just become one side picking at the others post history or spelling or grammar and completely ignoring what the other person is even saying. Its pathetic lol.

2

u/adds-nothing Aug 30 '26

Downvoted because you said you wanna use AI!! /s

5

u/radicalelation Aug 29 '26

I'm hypercritical, often not on the same page as the general public, and so much of games, movies, tv, entertainment in general, has become so bland and boring...

But I expect GTA 6 to be GTA 6, and I'm excited for it because GTA 5 was really good and a lot of fun, same with RDR2. No one does GTA like Rockstar, you can't get around that, and if they're the only ones giving us that universally praised standard every decade+, I'm not going to suddenly decide it's shit when they come around again with another top-tier sandbox action experience.

One thing you can always expect is for them to build upon both the tech and gameplay of each game they've done, as they always have. It isn't just rehashing, they refine the experience over and over, and usually we end up with an incredible familiar experience, while being introduced to new things that we can expect them to refine in the future.

3

u/Solidjakes Aug 29 '26

I know I’m alone on this, but I was actually really bummed by the changes from RdR1 to RDR2. I appreciated the graphics and level of detail but rockstar didn’t realize they removed the special sauce the first game had.

PvP rolls and headshots were amazing. There was an effect or something on the headshot that was pure asmr. Also the fist fight system allowed you to get knocked out and ragdoll. This allowed me and my buddies to make a fight club on top of the mountain and knock each other off and tumble down without immediately dying.

Rd2 comes out and they removed the pvp roll and replaced it with a disgusting dive. Fist fights drained hp and didn’t give the same knock down effect. Idk some times it’s hard to tell if they actually ruined the game for me, or if I can just never get the nostalgia back that I had playing rd1 with my friends. But either way I’ll be looking for that special sauce in GTA6. I can’t put it into words but I hope it’s there.

3

u/radicalelation Aug 29 '26

There are definitely especially engine shifts that have bugged me personally as well. I prefer the weightier driving physics of IV over the more arcade-y V, and there were some other steps back to compromise physics for more of other stuff, or even just to better optimize for console.

You might be interested to know that there was a combat roll animation left unused in RDR2, and a mod replaces the dive with it.

2

u/kingshadow75 Aug 31 '26

Same could honestly be said about Chinatown Wars too. I remember a lot of people hating on it for a lot of reasons, including touch controls and the top-down view. I haven't played it but it looks like fun. I don't mind the camera perspective as someone that played (and was bad at) the first gta game on PS1

9

u/Snoopj6001 Aug 29 '26

Yes!!! Opinions aren't real anymore, they're all forced. Theres no nuance or rational anymore. People are so stupid they actively make their own lives worse being mad at everything. "Modern FPS games suck"...you ever played Trepang2? Metro? Wolfenstein? "No"....Then STFU lol. They say games are "woke" so much, it actual ruins genuine criticism of over political games. Its like everyone is on some kind of "team". Its so bad YTers actual profit of making over critical videos. Some cool YTers i used to watch are just chuds now, but probrably not even in an honest way.

1

u/BrbFlippinInfinCoins Aug 29 '26

The only game that has deserved some of the "anti-woke hate" is dragon age veilguard IMO. Taking slaves out of the self-proclaimed slave capital of the in-game world because "people get slavery is bad," the lead writer saying publicly that they feel like their job is "getting paid to be an activist," and also stating "it makes me sad that kids dress up as stormtroopers for Halloween because they don't understand how they are spreading imperialism." Basically, Bioware adopted a philosophy that even depicting racism or prejudice was equivalent to promoting those same ideals - thus they removed anything even remotely offensive in their game. The game didn't do itself any favors by releasing like 3 days before the 2024 election either.... but that's besides the point.

Still, that was more of a broken clock being correct twice per day kind of thing. "Anti-woke" people attack any any every game that has even a whiff of a strong female lead or inclusion of non-white people. It was tired 8+ years ago, and now it's just... exhausting.

1

u/Snoopj6001 Aug 31 '26

Exactly. Gaming discourse is dead. It started with Anita Sarkessian and died with the chuds.

1

u/vincentsd1 Aug 29 '26

Because of the Internet, there will never be something that is generally liked ever again

1

u/tunaeP420 Aug 29 '26

I don't think online spaces toxify discourse anymore than in person. At least, not anymore. Now financializing discourse, that's when you can melt through iron.

Kinda like with the whole social media issue. Is it social media itself or is it the algo that they've all adopted to make a hollow buck?

1

u/Fiigwort Aug 29 '26

I know there's a ton of it with younger generations because they cannot allow themselves to be 'seen' as cringe at any point. They're so hyper-aware of being seen by someone and getting embarrassed, that they not only self-correct, but they also police it in others.

That's why there's so many people acting like this over games, being happy or excited about something is cringe, so they pull the pseudo-hipster thing of hating it and judging anyone who isn't taking the same stance. Same thing with music, media, clothing, etc. etc.

1

u/Interesting_Wind2512 Aug 29 '26

The state of modern gaming everything Reddit in general

This is quite literally the most miserable place on the internet, other social media sites aren't nearly as bad

1

u/Interesting-Crow264 Aug 29 '26

I even catch myself in it. My natural reaction is to be critical of EVERYTHING. Trying to ween myself out of it but it's a firehouse of ragebait.

1

u/Fabulous_Dig767 Aug 29 '26

I hate it, it's garbage

1

u/CatgoesM00 Aug 30 '26

F u ! , I hate you and disagree /s

1

u/No_Mud_5999 Aug 30 '26

Online content spaces reward negative content, often monetarily, as much as "positive" or neutral, factual content. Imagine if instead of a few cranky op-ed pieces in a sample newspaper, at least half of the paper was negative articles and opinions explaining why they dislike things. This is how public content has shifted in my lifetime.

Add a money incentive to that, here we are.

1

u/Various_Bandicoot437 Aug 30 '26

Yeah people will hate on the new iPhone or Apple in general because it’s a popular billion dollar company. They prefer buying their phone from… another popular billion dollar company. Claiming one is more moral than the other is laughable too.

25

u/accidental_superman Aug 29 '26

In ten years time "Oh you're excited for game X in series? It will never be as good as Y"

"Didn't you hate on Y? Call me stupid for polling it? Claiming it was the sign of the end of good games?"

Repeat with everything from battlefield to super mario

6

u/Square_Saltine Aug 29 '26

Not to nitpick but X comes before Y

6

u/EchoKipKipKip Aug 29 '26

Sounds like somebody doing a lot of hating on Y.

5

u/Square_Saltine Aug 29 '26

Well it wasn’t nearly as good as Z

2

u/prossnip42 Aug 29 '26

This is literally the Far Cry subreddit every time a new Far Cry game came out. They bitched about Far Cry 5, objectively the most polished and great feeling entry in the series and said that Far Cry 4 which was literally just Far Cry 3.5 was better. Ridiculous

2

u/coffee_badger Aug 29 '26

"Oh, you think Elden Ring is good now? I liked Elden Ring back before it was patched, when it was actually challenging."

88

u/HeimrekHringariki Aug 29 '26

It's the result of over a decade of people picking sides in a ridicilously hypocritical "culture war"..

152

u/IrksomFlotsom Aug 29 '26

34

u/masteroflocking Aug 29 '26

15

u/Camelotterduck Aug 29 '26

Ditto craves aristocratic blood.

2

u/stardust1914 Aug 29 '26

Lol why the fuck is this guillotine coming off as horny? 🤣

6

u/Moist_Taco_Crippler Aug 29 '26

It's just you.

7

u/stardust1914 Aug 29 '26

That's what I was worried about lol

3

u/masteroflocking Aug 29 '26

Congrats on your kink awakening

2

u/Baelzabub Aug 29 '26

Based Dittotine

7

u/Cu_Chulainn__ Aug 29 '26

Less cult, more ass

5

u/Vegan-cock Aug 29 '26

Someone who gets it.

1

u/Tall_Opportunity_521 Aug 29 '26

No they dont. They've just saying popular thing for upvotes. Its the same bullshit as the culture wars. People just saw what they think will get them upvotes, and nothing fucking else.

3

u/TrulyOutrageous42 Aug 29 '26

Warren Buffet came out and straight up said there's a class war and the rich are winning overwhelmingly. It's a meme... but it's also true. Granted one side is starting the culture war and the other side is saying "leave us alone", but it's definitely fabricated. The pursuit of money is all that matters to them, and making the poors angry at each other is THE time-honored way to do it best. They're THIEVES, but you can't see it because of eating their bullshit since you were born. Now it's time to realize that distaste in your mouth is, in fact, shit.

Proof? When you discuss strongly leftist (not neoliberal, actual things like profit-sharing, wage caps, government reducing overall costs even if it means some people can't be filthy rich) positions, even staunch Republicans will agree with the actual core concepts of the policy and the emotional pleas one makes around them but the moment you use a trigger word like Socialism or Welfare or Entitlements, suddenly they hate the entire project no matter how much you explain it. THEN you add in culture war stuff like egging on the evangelicals to get upset about the queers again, and turning a blind eye to white supremacists marching and lynching again, and we won't even get into abortion beyond saying they're killing women who don't want the pregnancy to end but must for their own ability to live and they're not even fixing this obvious error... that's culture war, when you get people to accept all of that and somehow that trans women in bathrooms (they don't care about trans men) and immigrants are their problem not the employers refusing raises and not the disparity between the right of the capital class to call the police for stealing a sandwich out of the trash while you need a lawyer you can't afford to fight them when they withhold pay.

Class war is real, always has been, and you're a victim of culture war propaganda as evidenced in your own comment.

2

u/masteroflocking Aug 29 '26

You're literally the type of person the video is talking about. Being negative to what end?

1

u/Vegan-cock Aug 29 '26

He is 100% right though.

16

u/prossnip42 Aug 29 '26

I have seen people say, unironically, from this 25 minute preview that Jason was Lucia's "whipping boy" and that they made him boring on purpose for "girl power". First off, how they got that idea out of a 25 minute preview is beyond me but even within the actual preview, all the combat sections have Jason ordering Lucia around like she's a lost puppy. These people just see what they wanna see at this point

10

u/outsider1624 Aug 29 '26

I remember the hate on arthur when they announced rdr2. They all were like bring back John marsten, this new character sucks lol

7

u/prossnip42 Aug 29 '26

Oh yeah i forgot about that. Wonder what those people have to say now?

6

u/outsider1624 Aug 29 '26

They worship him now. Rdr3 announced and they shit on the new characters based on a few 2 min gameplay or trailer

3

u/TheNakedBass Aug 29 '26

Rdr3 was announced??

3

u/TikkiEXX77 Aug 30 '26

The Jason hate is so weird. It almost feels personal.

3

u/Sidereel Aug 30 '26

I feel like the decade plus fallout of gamergate has trained some people to just dismiss everything as some sort of woke feminist agenda.

1

u/Outrageous-Bag4439 Sep 04 '26

Most of those people are just young dumb naive kids parroting social media grifters pretending to think this for easy clicks (easy money ). The culture war grifters have to be the laziest MFs of all social media. It’s so ham fisted and obvious but sadly plenty of dumb people to eat that shit up.

1

u/Nervous-Leg-7570 Aug 29 '26

A decade? Since the beginning of time, young buck

1

u/tnetennba77 Aug 29 '26

What is the culture war thing though? Is there gays and blacks in the game? Is it because Musk bitched about it? I thought this was just contrarian assholes.

1

u/Precarious3145 Aug 29 '26

Not just a decade. This is going back to the 90s with the OG console wars.

1

u/Warrior_Runding Aug 29 '26

If by "over a decade" you mean essentially the history of the United States, sure. Conservatives have always sought to bolster their ill thought ideology by using some distraction.

8

u/blakhawk12 Aug 29 '26

The state of modern everything. Every movie trailer, game trailer, even announcements for future projects, is met with a tidal wave of cynicism and hate-mongering. These people think being negative all the time makes you a “realist” or whatever, when it really just makes you a miserable person.

5

u/Active-Cookie-774 Aug 29 '26

A majority of players love to to have that hot take in shitting on someone's interest.

As if being vitriol would make things better.

16

u/Objective-Mission-40 Aug 29 '26

Yeah. I dont want gta 6 because I didnt like gta5 (I think i just grew out of that type of game).

It looks like its well made and I bet 12 year old me would love it.

Pretty much not buying anything from Sony or microsoft right now though

3

u/Creative_Room6540 Aug 29 '26

12 year old you lol. Salute the maturity.

2

u/Objective-Mission-40 Aug 29 '26

He loved those hookers

1

u/yakityyakblahtemp Aug 29 '26

GTA6 is looking to actually be a more mature considered crime sim where you have to really think about how you approach stickups and carjackings in order to succeed.

2

u/Objective-Mission-40 Aug 29 '26

Im just not into the violence and everything of it all. Not in a "i dont like violence" way, but a , i want my violence to mean something or be progression. Like elden ring or arpgs. Like I am fighting for someone or something. I've had the same problem with mmos too

4

u/TokenTorkoal Aug 29 '26

The state of, vaguely gestures, everything right now.

3

u/anengineerandacat Aug 30 '26

Agreed, one of the worst things you can do when your enjoying a game is check it's subreddit.

2

u/marmaladic Aug 29 '26

To be fair, this site ain’t doing much in putting the flames out on that… :/

2

u/ticklemesatan Aug 29 '26

Literally watching my favorite two games die to this exactly. (Bungie to give a clue)

1

u/Fortestingporpoises Aug 29 '26

That’s just the state of modern internet culture. It’s no different than when movie trailers come out. Ant potential flaw is highlighted and you’re an asshole if you say the thing looks good.

1

u/korkkis Aug 29 '26

The whole world pretty much, all things

1

u/Tidus4713 Aug 29 '26

Me when I point out how all the people boycotting Sony for the blackout going on won't actually do anything. A week long blackout isn't a protest, selling your consoles and never buying from them again is.

Somehow this makes me a bootlicker.

1

u/Dependent_Party625 Aug 29 '26

I need to see the player count before i can comment

1

u/richtofin819 Aug 29 '26

Modern internet in general, everything is either aggresively positive or aggressively negative because only strong emotions get clicks and sales.

1

u/appletoasterff Aug 29 '26

Eh mostly just online lol

1

u/SomewhereRough_ Aug 29 '26

I dunno the other side is, you can't have a critical opinion without being attacked.

For example, I was a bit underwhelmed.

It looks awesome. Graphics are great, besides the stiff animations.

Density might be awesome.

I just feel let down that it looks like the shooting mechanics are from the Xbox 360.

It's just an opinion lol. It's a game, it's subjective.

All of these opinions are expected.

1

u/ZThick_8656 Aug 29 '26

Being able to do and say things from behind a screen without much consequences is a huge negative for our culture.

1

u/beepboopdood Aug 29 '26

The world.

1

u/artificial_me Aug 29 '26

Since there is an oversaturation of everything and with dwindling spending power, negativity makes it easier to not get in to something new that would cost you time and money. Kinda backwards but out brains work in mysterious ways and algos only reinforce all this type of behaviours

1

u/Salt-Wish5140 Aug 29 '26

Idk the AK47 being able to shoot  with the safety selector up/on was lame.

If you didn't want to model both, I would have modeled the safety off and just run around unsafe, but at least it would make sense when you pulled the trigger

1

u/Salt-Wish5140 Aug 29 '26

Also her parachute deployment looked kinda fake. Pops open too quickly IMO

1

u/Jayandnightasmr Aug 29 '26

State of terminally online, nothing but negativity

1

u/ZypherPunk Aug 29 '26

State of that comment, its soon bad, who writes comments like that. /s

1

u/kylef5993 Aug 29 '26

**the state of modern everything.

I’m so over everyone blaming literally everything on AI.

1

u/SolsticeSon Aug 29 '26

Yup, every main studio fired 99% of their design teams to usher in Ai. I spent most of my life and 8 years in design school to start a career in concept design and vis dev for games… which became the first industry that got completely imploded by stable diffusion bullshit.

1

u/iamnas Aug 29 '26

It’s like the game mixtape. You either like it or you don’t like every other game . But for some reason people actually hate mixtape. People passionately hate it. I don’t understand why, it’s just a game. Why give a fuck

Personally, I loved it

1

u/m0rbius Aug 29 '26

It's not only for gaming, it's for anything popular or culturally relevant. Haters get a lot of attention, but at least we're aware that they are hating to get attention.

1

u/stokedchris Aug 29 '26

Reddit in general

1

u/lazzzym Aug 29 '26

Something is bad = It’s AI.

Is generally one of my biggest pet peeves at the moment.

Something can just be bad without AI.

1

u/Felevion Aug 30 '26

As someone who has played WoW since 2004 it feels like something I've heard constantly since about 2005 when WoW was first supposed to die 21 years ago.

1

u/drdildamesh Aug 30 '26

I can get excited about things. Im just too old for anything new to not seem derivative.

1

u/nasum_shift Aug 30 '26

*modern people

1

u/FurryCitizen Aug 30 '26

When GTA VI is shoved down your throat 24/7 unless you stay offline, it's not really a problem with the state of modern gaming, more with modern media.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Lab2447 Aug 30 '26

Modern game discourse more like.

1

u/xanderholland Aug 31 '26

Reminds me of all the flak Fable is getting about the combat "why aren't the characters reacting to being hit?!"

Did.... did you not watch any of the game videos they showed?

1

u/coffee_nights Aug 31 '26

The state of any conversation on social media in general.

1

u/SegaGameCast Aug 31 '26

These posts are fucking pointless. All I see is people making posts about people hating on GTA.

1

u/Subjectdelta44 Sep 01 '26

Starfields reception was a good example of this

The game by all acounts was just an average bethesda game. I legitimately think its better than skyrim and I've been playing bethesda games since oblivion launched

Yet the internet widely believes its actually utter 2/10 garbage. Because games are either 10/10 masterpieces, and every flaw gets handwaved away, or a game is a complete and utter failure that gets nitpicked and scrutinized at the smallest level

0

u/Sad_Elk1943 Aug 29 '26

Its scociety as a whole....started catering to ppl that cry all day

0

u/WeepWhileItAllBurns Aug 29 '26

Yes. Modern. Sega vs. Nintendo. PS vs. XBox. Ad nauseum.

0

u/Hije5 Aug 29 '26

Imo this is fake outcry and could potentially even be an ad campaign. Anyone legitimately thinking it looks like GTA 5 has developmental issues and cant be arguing with or haven't seen GTA 5 in years. Otherwise, it is trolls.

Personally, I haven't seen a single person say it looks like GTA 5. I've only seen it in videos like this where people criticize others for saying it looks like 5 but dont actually show any person legitimately saying it looks like 5.

-1

u/Khazgarr Aug 29 '26

Well the state of modern gaming seems to be heading towards hyper-realism when gaming currently is becoming a more expensive hobby and people just want to play a video game and not play/watch a movie.

I think people would've preferred 2-3 GTA games that looked like GTA 5 within the course of 13 years vs waiting 13 years for the next GTA game. Graphics shouldn't be a top priority, it should be, by minimal, acceptable.

1

u/SpartanRage117 Aug 29 '26

Nah we got red dead 2.
I think 6+ year gaps for a company that hits is fine. People know what a R* game is trying to be. Id rather them keep doing what theyre doing and just play other games when I want the experience you’re talking about.

Yes the trailer looks “like a movie” but those same details are what allows the sandbox to live and breath outside of scripted scenes and planned missions

Again, people would've preferred 2-3 GTAs within the span of 13 years. I didn't even say a GTA per year, there's plenty of time to player other things, no one is forcing you play their games until the next one comes out...

The issue is that the graphics only last for the moment you experience it, the gameplay and the content there is to do is what keeps you engaged, otherwise it's just a tech demo. I can't speak for GTA 6 since no one has played it, but for GTA 5, a lot of the things people would've liked to do in the SP after they finished the game was in the Online, but it was gated by griefing which was an intentional design to stop players from farming cash quickly. People would've preferred to play the online offline to distance themselves from the cheating and greifing that plagued it. 13 years and they couldn't bother to make the servers dedicated.

People will always prefer a new experience over an existing one with new things to do. The only thing that has held GTA Online's popularity thus far has been RP. Unless the world they build in GTA 6 for SP adds RP elements and rules, then there will be an experience that remains outside of missions, if not, then it's just an open world sandbox that requires a player's imagination to create artificial content for themselves and most don't give a shit about that. There's content that you do once just to see what it's like and there's content that provides incentive to keep doing it.

"graphics shouldn't be a top priority, it should be, by minimal, acceptable"

😂 So you think that will stop the negativity? They will always find away to complain.

What you just said just now is funny cos I already know the comments will be like:

"I bought a next gen console for this slop"

"This looks like a PS3 game"

"13 years for this kind of graphics?"

What are you on about? You do realize that Rockstar making this game hyper-realistic has now set the new bar for how they have to make their games going forward, right? You talking in hindsight, no one was expecting Rockstar's next GTA to be hyper-realistic, they set those expectation when they released the teaser. RDR2 was the last thing Rockstar made that set expectations of how graphics will be like when the next game was announced. Those people who supposedly would complain about "next gen console slop" will instead complain about how they need to wait for a more powerful console to effectively play the game at 4k and/or beyond 30 FPS. It's another Cyberpunk situation, with hopefully no large list of bugs this time around.

"Hyper realistic"

Come on bro...GTA6 is still a game. A bottle from a fridge reminds you that you're still playing inn a video game.

There's nothing "hyper" realistic in GTA6 if you're talking about graphics. Realistic in other features? Yes. Gas, slimjim, turning lights, eating, gym these are all realistic features.

Yeah don't compare cyberpunk to GTA6 bro...or any other r* games before it. That's an insult to r*

You completely ignored everything that was said and focused on the term that was used to represent the graphics of the game. You think the issues I was pointing out would be gameplay related? You would know that the subject was graphics related and not gameplay, if you had any comprehension skills you've known that but I know you're not that stupid, you're just throwing spaghetti at the wall because you couldn't come up with a proper counterpoint to what was said.

Also, Rockstar has always been shit at gameplay, with the exception of Max Payne 3, they've only been good at story and world building for the majority of their games. You're going to tell me that their clunky movement controls, rag-doll sensitivity and lack of shooting feedback is good gameplay? You're an actual bootlicker if so. The good thing is that it looks like they're finally tackling that in GTA 6.

Also, you seem so assure of yourself that GTA VI isn't going to have any issues on release since there weren't any problems in the extended look, because apparently Rockstar would've showcased the issues if there were any, any dev would, right? lol

Cut the crap man. I pointed out on your first comment that no matter what changes they make to GTA6, there will always be complains. With regards to graphics like i said even if it's just "acceptable" people will still complain. you cannot avoid that.

With the exception of clunky movement in their gtas, they are pretty decent. Nothings wrong with that.

"You seem so assure.."

Name me one gta game that was unplayable at launch. Or even one r* game for that matter.

Yeah..im sure we'll have ourselves a playable version at launch. Sure you're going to have some minor fixes and what not..but that's been like that this decade..

Yeah the exception of the complaints is that people would've been able to play the game regardless of their hardware.

This clearly has introduced issues for them which is why the game has been delayed multiple times. Name me a game lately that has been delayed numerous of times and released without a problem?
