This alone makes me not want to buy the game.

Don't worry, there are plenty of other good reasons to not play this game.

Namely other better games that are out or coming out like recently Onimusha or Dawnwalker or Zero Company and soon Control 2 and Fire Emblem. And then Gears Eday and Star Wars Racer and Zelda and GTA6. Very crowded bad release date for a middle of the road linear no replay value experience.

Gonna add Ace Combat 8 to this list (Ace Combat is a goated series i beg everyone to try it out its so fun Ace Combat 7 goes on sale regularly)

Ace Combat 8 is supposed to have an even bigger campaign than 7 so it’s definitely worth a preorder lol

The budget seems to have increased a lot. I heard that there are 30 missions total so longer by one mission in a single playthrough of AC5 and certainly longer than AC7. Missions are likely also much more in depth if Kono (brand director) is to be believed.

And also a Online mode that resembles Ace Combat Infinity, which is something the community hoped for to return at some point (thankfully without the godawful fuel system this time around lol)

I figured they might make the hand holdy elements optional in future patches. But this is just too lame, it feels particularly insulting

This alone should solidify that you should absolutely not buy it. If the game is so linear (and probably not all that long either), you're better off just watching a playthru online since you'll get about the same experience, save a bunch of money, and most importantly not pay for (and therefore endorse/fund) this kind of slop
