VN Request Is there a vn with a genuinely good enemies to lovers thing?
Closest I've seen is Kinkoi, but even that felt a bit half-assed. I want something that goes beyond just initially being a bit prickly or aloof.
Something where both parties actually just loathe each other till somehow it's developed in the opposite direction?

Dies Irae with Kei and sort of Rusalka, they're rivals that fight to the death.
Hanachirasu if you prefer the yaoi ending fr

I second Dies" Kei route. It is still not thaaaat much of an enemies to lovers thing as she is one of the least inimical and open to change members of the LDO, but she is still firmly an ememy. Plus, her route actually has the best romance (even if the plot and general story of Rea's and Marie's are better).

Genuinely the worst thing Qruppo's ever done is fail to provide us with a proper Sofia route.

You'd think there's enough demand to make a sequel with Sofia route, like how Nukitashi 2 got its new routes. For whatever reason Qruppo decided to just not do anything after HenPri.

I mean is there that much more herorine candidates for new routes other than Sofia to justify a sequel?

The other chief wardens are well liked, so they work. And maybe the doctor too.

it's a rare thing in vns, most of what gets called enemies to lovers is just "girl is mildly annoyed at protag for 5 minutes"
what you're asking for needs real buildup and actual hatred, not just tsundere-lite nonsense
i'd be curious if anyone has recs where the shift feels earned and not just "and then they banged and everything was fine"

Majikoi has side heroines who are completely antagonistic.
Hundred Line Defense also have that.
Akatsuki no Goei. Its a crime that it is one of the least rec'ced vn i see here. The best triology I ever played dude.
Muruamasa
G-senjou no Maou kinda has it too
As someone other mentioned Umineko is goated for this
Rewrite would be another callout but the heroines are enemies in different routes and even though it is enemy to lovers for us the players, its not that for the MC.
Something like that is also in Baldr Sky.
Sen no Hatou also have it but it is a boring VN
You can try tsukihime too

Majikoi all its sequels are the GOAT

I would argue S was its weakest entry but the A series brought back the of vibes
•
u/wannasleepforlong 21h ago
Nah dude I enjoyed S a lot for Momoya and Wanko. Heck Momoya is completely bare without the s route.
•
u/WeatherBackground736 21h ago
I will agree that the after-stories are all around really good, its just that the rest of it unfortunately feels lacking

I gave Sen no Hatou a 9.5 myself.

Damn. I made a post here for why i dislike it so much if you wanna know why i say its boring https://www.reddit.com/r/visualnovels/s/mRrRcaECQt

Thanks but I'll pass, I don't need to read anothers review to tell me my tastes are different and what I enjoy should be looked at as boring.

As a big fan of the genre, the only one that comes to my mind is The House in Fata Morgana. Door 5 specifically.
This was my introduction to enemy to lovers and honestly it's hard to find anything decent, especially if you want a male MC. Most of the time they might be enemies but don't hate each other or have barely any friction.

I don't remember all details, but there is this old series Castle Fantasia, where your character is betrayed and forced to switch sides in a war, thus has to both try and befriend former enemies, as well as fight former allies.
There definitely was a former enemy heroine, a former subordinate who wants to chase you down for switching sides, the betrayer's little sister who used to look up to you and now would rather you die by her hands than be executed, and so on.
The last game in the series (Senjou no Folklore) came out over a decade ago (2013) and was never translated, some of the earlier were translated, but are very outdated.

Dies Irae, at Sakurai Kei'sroute.
If you are alright with the hate/dislike towards the opposite person being more one sided:
- Gore Screaming Show, at Yuka's route could be it.
- Mashiro-iro Symphony, at Sena Airi and Inui Sana's routes.
The spoiler tags are for the heroines' names in case you don't wanna know who they are.

A lot of ppl here say Umineko which does fit enemies to lovers but doesn't meet the criteria of both parties loathing each-other, since Beatrice never hated Battler

u/BrotherCaptainLurker 1d ago
Kei’s route in Dies Irae is peak.
The half-baked Chachamaru route (it’s a small branch off Muramasa’s route) in Muramasa might also count, but those two actually got along pretty well even if they were distinctly enemies.
Uhhhhh Slay the Princess maybe (especially The Thorns) lol?
Other stuff that comes to mind is generic h-game nonsense; captured girl gets banged and falls in love or similar inanity.

u/_Muken_ 1d ago
I mean I wouldnt call chachamarus route the enemys to lovers since she always liked him since the race car arc. I think kanaes would work more because of the vegeance thing and her being conflicted near the end due to her slowly loving him despite the roles they have to play

u/BrotherCaptainLurker 1d ago
I mean Chacha's technically one of the big generals for game's big evil empire faction, but yea. Chacha herself is one of the least antagonistic characters in the game despite calling herself a villain.

In order to ensure you can get the best recommendations, make sure your thread body has at least some level of detail of what you want, whether it's a type of genre(s) you prefer, and/or what type of visual novels you like.
If you're looking for general visual novel recommendations by genre or for VNs to read in Japanese, be sure to check out our recommendation resources.

Posso estar falando merda, mas acho que G-senjou no maou é assim, eu joguei somente umas 4 horas ainda, mas eu peguei um spoiler que deu a entender que é assim. Eu recomendo mesmo não tendo completado, estou gostando muito!!!!

Kaoru (Ayakashibito)
Kei Sakurai (dies irae)
Mai and akemi (akatsuki no goei)
Tsukihime has this but explaining who is a spoiler
All of the heroines in FMD muramasa kind of sort of fall in this category as well
