I don't get why it's so controversial. It's animated fiction. Nearly every comic from webtoon, traditional comics, manhwa/manhua, manga all have unrealistic body types. It's just art styles.

At this point it's so easy for me to not notice odd proportions because so much anime/manga is like that and I wonder if the people who complain are just new to this kind of media or maybe just young

This sub is weird af. You'll see most comments in this praising TOAWF's story and artstyle right now.

In the next few days, another post will pop up dunking on TOAWF.

Goomba rule.

TIL about the Goomba rule. Why did the meme originator decide to use a Goomba? Who knows.

I don't get it either. There are no rules to art.

I'd disagree with that--namely that it should be consistent with the rest of the world. I.E. with anime art, everyone has anime eyes and if body proportions are weird, then everyone has weird proportions.

But with manhwa, you have normal looking buildings, normal looking side characters, and then people built like refrigerators with shrunken heads that look like they were ripped from the neck of a kpop star.

I mean, yeah, there aren't any set "rules", but her boobs and butt are so big compared to her petite body, it's just so obviously to sexualize her body. The rules of art are to draw proportionally when drawing a more realistic style, drawing unproportionally is usually reserved for more comic-style characters, because it looks better when they're not semi-realistic. but this is a semi-realistic art style, and her boobs are bigger than her face, she's got an extremely thin waist, and her butt is completely disproportionate to the rest of her body.

like, realistically, someone could have those proportions, but the people with those proportions wouldn't look like that...they'd (preferably) have ribs...

There is nothing semi realistic about toawf 's art the artsyle is obviously learning towards more manga and anime type of artsyle, than semi realism lol

People are looking for body type diversity in a dark romance smut series, and I absolutely do not get it. The characters in this series aren't supposed to have realistic body types (the male characters have some wild proportions as well but no one's complaining about that for some reason), they're supposed to look fuckable. Big boobs and 8 pack abs sell.

My thoughts exactly. It's a smut genre, what do they expect bruh.

People definitely complain about 8 packs and fridge proportions.

How unrealistic are we talking? Because just being stacked but otherwise skinny is a proportion found on some women. Obviously, we know about these examples because of the line of work some of them choose, but rare is not impossibly unrealistic if the women in question are real people. It just means genetics play a big factor.
