Im just a southern American dumbass obsessed with reading manwha who is absolutely devastated that Tapas is shutting down. All that money just wasted on an app to read so many stories and now they will just be gone.
How would you recommend finding and following any possible updates on the different stories? How do I cope with losing everything from this site? I was lucky that I only read a couple of stories on Pocket Comics, so when they closed I wasn’t as devastated. It helped that I found out about Pocket Comics when I saw my favorite story on Tapas, not from opening the app to that disappointing notice. Y’all, that notice absolutely ruined my entire week.
A lot of creators are currently in limbo and scrambling to figure out their next steps (as far as I'm aware, none of the creature on Tapas were given a heads up, no email, nothing) and many weren't even aware of the news leaking ahead of rite officer announcement.
Best advice I can give is to follow creators on any other social media they have to get updates on rheir next steps/what platforms they might be putting works on next, when and if they macabre to get everything sorted out.
You need to download an extension. You will be able to download the comics you have actually paid for.
Hop on to a browser and look up Milhon and then download the app from their site. They don't have an official app on play or app store as this is a bit 'Yo-Ho' ish.
Next on your browser look up Keiyoushi extension (its a github link your after) and add the store, it will download into the M app.
Now we just use the app, no search engine.
The app will ask you to create a folder for your comics to go into. DON'T create the folder WITHIN a folder, it needs to be a primary folder.
In the M app your K extension will allow you to access a bunch of other extensions. In the browser tab (left middle of the screen) go into the extention tab (top middle) and find Tapas (use the search bar in the top right) and install it.
Jump over to sources (top left) and you should see the T extension there.
Tap on the T extention and it will load. This is essentially just pulling the T website into the app and adjusting it to its interface.
Next tap the 3 dots in the top right and tap web view. Then log into your account. (You don't use the web view for anything else.)
Now all the episodes that you have purchased will be available for you to download onto your device.
You will have to search for each comic you want to download, and you will need to download them before the site goes away in 6 months.
Search for the comic you want, tap into in and the top right will have a arrow, tap that and pick how you want to dowload.
I pick all unread as everything is unread, I think since your going through the M app.
It will go into the download queue and it will download in the background, you don't have to stay on the app or your device. However I recommend checking in every now and again.
From there you can read in the M app or download something like Challenger Comics Viewer App. The files will be on your device. So you can move them to other devices too.
hey so im not sure if you're able to give any advice on this but you might be able to redirect me? since i have a mac i tried to download suwayomi instead and go through the process from there! im stuck at trying to open tapas in webview! from the launcher KCEF are turned on! but when trying to do so in-app, unfortunately, i get the message that "KCEF is not supported on MacOS" which is a tad confusing...idk if anyone else has had this issue?
Hey, I have Microsoft and Android devices. The only advice I can give is that I tried a different program on my PC first and it didn’t work for me at all. So I switched to my Tablet and did what I wrote above. It works and was super easy to figure out and use.
I'm sure there are stuff for Apple devices you'll just need to search Reddit to find it. I did read that Android is easier for these things over Apple. Good luck x
Yep. Last line of my post. Downloading the comics in the M app literally downloads them to your device. From there just plug your phone into your computer and transfer them over.
After spending so much money here and finding it to be the somewhat more reasonable of the prices, Im finding it hard to want to move to a new app, but I have trouble sourcing physical. Any advice on maybe free reading apps or where to find physical versions
Official apps your looking at: Webtoon, Manta, Tappytoon, and Lezhin. There maybe others but those are the only ones I am aware of and use.
Unofficially, your not going to find normal apps. It will be websites. Apps from the store are monitored and so you cant have unofficial content for free on them without them being shut down.
If you poke around enough you'll find what your after. Usually searching for a comic name and wading through the results is the best way.
Physical stuff, I get the majority of my comics from Amazon. But I have got them from other places too like Waterstones and Forbidden Planet. (I'm in the UK and want English copies)
I keep an eye on a few different imprints to see what stuff is being printed. Webtoon Unscrolled, Inklore, Yen Press, Ize Press.
Not everything gets printed, mostly the bigger comics and occasionally something smaller that they know is good.
so not quite what you are looking for but https://bookwalker.com/ lets you download the things you buy, there is a DRM but it is the kind that is rather easy to break if need be
I reccomend screenshot ting your library and putting all the screenshot in a labeled folder. Then trying to find them in other places. Definitely sort it in alphabetical order first.
I love that one too, it’s one of the few that I finally caught up on. I tend to let a bunch of episodes gather before reading them all, I’ll never be able to catch up on a few now 😭
I know! Unless it’s WUF then I can’t read anymore 😭 I’m happy that some have moved to Tappytoon or Lezhin but how long will it be until those are shut down?
