New, what is it? What’s this animal?
Saw this on one of those little carousels outside a supermarket. Can’t for the life of me figure out what’s going on with it lol. Elephant dressed as a duck?

Not to be confused with Elephunk, which is the 3rd album by the Black Eye Peas

This cursed little ride just hit a type of nostalgia I haven't felt in years. Maybe it's a pelican but even when I was a kid I had no idea what was going on

Looks like it was an elephant, the trunk broke, and rather than replace it, they made it into a duck?
Edit: either that, or the whole thing was a salvage, given the spraypaint on everything.

Right? But the trunk looks fine and if they were gonna add a duck tail why not fix the trunk instead 😭

This looks like one of those, "I talked to a company about restoring the ride, and they want $5k, but my cousin said he'll do it for $250 and a case of beer" situations. And the cousin started in on the beer as the first step of the job.

It looks like a orange elephant joyfully prancing and laughing while wearing the pelt of a pelican it just finished skinning alive..

That’s what they call a “child”. Pretty expensive. Sure to ruin your house if you let it inside.

I'd love to know where this is. 20+ years ago I took a photo for a college photography class of the exact same coin op carousel outside of a now defunct k-mart in rural Indiana. Same colors, same everything. I am so pleased to see this same thing I rode in as a kid is still going strong!

It’s at a market basket in Massachusetts! They have them outside supermarkets still every once in a while. Happy to report it’s still functioning as well

They used to have a color variant version of this guy at my local supermarket, in SoCal, back in the late 90s!
He's very well-traveled.
