Solved ITAW for someone who's charismatic but occasionally uncanny?

I'm trying to find a word or phrase that can describe a person who's nice, charismatic, and makes you feel welcomed but occasionally kinda sets off alarm bells in you?

Some context: this person is very warm and can make friends with just about everyone but sometimes there's just something that seems off about them that you can't quite pin... or maybe you can but they're so charismatic, people tend to look past it.

The best thing I've heard to describe it was the phrase "the uncanny valley of charisma" but if anyone has something more specific or a word that you can use to refer the person to that'd be great.

Disconcerting, perhaps. Like, you might say this person has a sort of "disconcerting charm".

Fake, artificial, offputting?

I was thinking disingenuous, but I like offputting a bit more.

Something like "glib" or "slick" could work

M-W:

  • a glib politician

That or people with ASPD, AKA sociopaths.

I think I'd generally agree with this in reference to this specific person, maybe not the diagnosis itself but someone who has sociopathic tendencies if thats a thing? Like this person cares very very deeply for and has a real connection to the people they're close to but could care less about those they have superficial relationships with. They're naturally kind and warm to others but not out of the kindness of their heart, just out of habit maybe.

Oh, I was more commenting on OC than OP. Don't want to diagnose the friend, just pointing out that OC forgot at least one diagnosis where a symptom is "charming others".
