ID Request Is this a stinger?

Post image

My son exclaimed in pain, and then I found this in the back of his hand. He’s a toddler, so he wasn’t able to tell me if he saw a bug or not, so I’m unsure of what it is. I took it out immediately and then placed it on a table to take this picture. Is it a bee stinger?

That does appear to be a bee's stinger with the venom sack still attached. A size reference would be helpful. If that's something tiny, that's a very good photo by the way.

It is in fact tiny, I can’t post a follow up pic, but it’s smaller than a grain of rice. (Original pic taken with iPhone’s macro setting)

Thanks for your info/opinion on what it is!

Kinda looks like the goat’s head thorns that are always getting stuck in our feet/shoes here but we are in Arizona, not sure if you have those in Oregon!

Bzzzzz! Hi, u/logezzzzzbro! Looks like you forgot to say where you found your bug!
There's no need to make a new post - just comment adding the geographic location and any other info (size, what it was doing etc.) you feel could help! We don't want to know your address - state or country is enough; try to avoid abbreviations and local nicknames ("PNW", "Big Apple").

BTW, did you take a look at our Frequently Asked Bugs?
