Many students aren’t learning much in class because they have AI do their homework. People are asking AI to make the important decisions they have to make. Trillions are being poured into the technology by investors in the hopes that it can replace human labor across just about every job that is done at a computer.

It can be reductive to make simple, black-and-white assertions about the world, as you have done. The sheer fact that lots of people use AI irresponsibly is not sufficient to argue that "AI is unhealthy". I'm sorry I don't have all the answers, but neither do you.

"somewhat useful" was meant to be slightly tongue-in-cheek, and I'm glad you're not the kind of person who denies the utility of AI across the board.

The fact that AI is genuinely useful to normal people suggests that it can be healthy. It can be healthy to use AI to help you learn things, or to solve difficult problems. AI is not inherently unhealthy, otherwise it would have no healthy applications.
