US Teen Goes To Hindu Temple For Mass Shooting, Jammed Rifle Stops Him

Parents need to check on their kids internet use. What was once not a big deal when we were growing up is now becoming a mass radicalization tool for violence and societal disruption. It keeps getting worse.
21
u/Bluoenix 1d ago
And social media companies need to punished and regulated for allowing content algorithms to push people towards radicalisation, all in the name of corporate profit. See: Facebook Files.
12
u/DishSoapedDishwasher 1d ago
I work in security and privacy research, it's almost never going to be solved by being a surveillance obsessed parent, only made worse. They'll just learn to evade it. They always do. The real life hack is to not be a soggy piece of shit that reproduces.
Hate and tolerance are both learned, so you fix problems like this by first fixing the society that's causing it.
16
u/mayamaiamaea 1d ago
Imo a huge part of it is not letting your kid have unfettered access to the internet or screens from a young age, and encouraging (more like requiring) in person activities and friendships.
11
u/The_Value_Hound 1d ago
Yeah the best way is to keep kids involved in structured activities as much as possible, the more free time they have more stupidity they get up to.
2
u/Tonio_Akerbeltz 1d ago
Actual solution is to stop parents from giving Ipads to their kids because they couldn't be bothered to do actual parenting.

What was once not a big deal when we were growing up
???? It has always been a big deal and is arguably far more awareness drawn to the risks now. I and so many of my friends were exposed to more gore and incredibly explicit sexual content in the late 90s/early 2000s as a kid than I can even begin to describe.
Social media wasnt really a thing then, and it is a different kind of cancer. But the internet has ALWAYS been a dangerous place for kids. Don't get me started on chat rooms and when Webcam s were afforsable. Eeesh
Our parents had very little understanding of how the internet worked or steps to take to make it safe. There is zero excuse for parents of young kids nowadays to not have oversight into what their kids are doing online.
3
u/Tonio_Akerbeltz 1d ago
I think what really pushed it was the internet becoming fully mainstream during the 2010s
The internet has always been racist and dangerous, but before that it was a niche thing that only geeky people used.
Nowadays absolutely everyone uses it
1
u/31139006 1d ago
I don't think this is worth arguing or disagreeing with. Regardless of how long it's been a problem, the point is that it's a huge issue right now, and it's only getting worse.
1
u/RedWingerD 1d ago
Respectfully, I think is important to refute the discourse of things being "so much worse now' when in many ways that isnt true at all.
1
u/nohopeforhomosapiens 1d ago
Very many people are not computer/internet savvy, so they do not know how to check their child.

How come its always the least threatening ones?
28
u/wastedfate 1d ago
The ones that don't look threatening, look like easy targets to bully.
And before someone says that's "justification", it's not.
It's just that happy people who want to live, don't usually throw their life away trying stuff like this.

I highly doubt that this kid from Palatine, Illinois was being bullied by Indians.

The type of person to commit an act like this isn't thinking about things logically.
Look at Breivik for example. He hated Islam and believed in the great replacement... so he shot up a summer camp full of white kids in Sweden.

u/WearIcy2635 1d ago

Because the vast majority of hindus are indians. The hate was moreso directed at indians than hindus is my thought

Just pewdiepie audience who are into their late teens/early 20s now.

Unfortunately, "normalize Indian hate" has become a reality. I read an article that said "Indians are the new jews of America" lol.

Goes beyond PewDiePie, even the most "progressive" redditors are casually racist towards indians for some reason.
1
u/BuzzyIris 1d ago
They are. Seeing a lot of "but h-ndu nationalism in India and m0di" from them. That's like dumbfuck Indians justifying anti-c violence in India because of what's happening in the US and Canada and anti-m violence because pakistan and bangladesh. Two sides of the same coin, tbh.

u/smokky 1d ago
Kids are reading blatant racism online
Look at some of the posts and comments here

That's why reddit and other social media are allowing bots, and enemies like Russia, China, trump, are using bot farms, or at least tolerating them, because it brainwashes kids and adults.
The more conservatives, the more the rich can manipulate society
5
u/Intelligent_Low1632 1d ago
If there were legitimate grievances, how could anyone possibly mention them in a thread like this? That would be in incredibly poor taste.
14
u/DistrictDry2852 1d ago
As Indian immigration ramps up towards the west racism towards Indians will unfortunately rise. Figures like nick Fuentes have straight up said that they’re cool with Muslims now, it’s Indians who are the enemy.
11
u/FoxMane1 1d ago
It's crazy because Hindus aren't as oppressive as the Muslims and Christians are

From memory please do correct me, doesn’t nick fuentes have issues with sneako (a YouTuber who reverted and became Muslim), but I’m pretty sure he had issues with Muslims, when did he say recently he’s now okay with them as that’s news to me lmao
3
u/SoiFonBeyond 1d ago
I can't believe people (weak people) worship a wussy like Fuentes who himself is of Mexican descent. He's racist against his own ethnicity.
→ More replies (2)5
u/DistrictDry2852 1d ago
He said it a few months ago.
TBH he’s probably still anti Muslim but Fuentes is anti Jewish first and foremost and Muslims make a good ally on that right now because of Israel Palestine. I don’t think he cares about the Palestinians but acting all concerned about the “evil Jews” killing Muslim kids is a good way to farm engagement.

Because racism and dehumanization against Indians has been normalized on social media. We are beginning to see effects now in the real world. There was a case recently of a group of Indian students set on fire by a Romanian citizen in Germany recently. Stories like this one or this foiled attempt of mass shooting won’t be highly upvoted on Reddit. Stories like these will be removed or buried.

Hindus are very likely to be Indian as well and the internet (especially Reddit) has taught people that it’s ok to be racist and hateful towards Indians
1
u/Candid-libertarian 1d ago
Reddit has taught everyone it's ok to be racist to everyone else. The far left racism is social justice and the far right racism is culturalism.

I agree, however, I feel terrible for the younger generation as they are absolutely bombarded with sensory overload constantly. We're supposed to be free but with our lives increasingly being online. The algorithms are what control and dominate our feed. So eventually you start to get inundated and insulated with bullshit.

u/Cager_CA 1d ago

9

The comments on Instagram were supportive of this attempted shooting. I'm glad Reddit at least recognizes that it was wrong.

u/Fox4Delta3 5h ago
Or this is what happens when Indians allow so many of their peers to have industrialized scam centers targeting vulnerable Americans along with many other scummy practices like H1b abuse. Perhaps these are related and ignoring the cause of the anti-Indian sentiment will only ensure it persists.

Everyone hates the ID requirements for social media for good reason, governments spying on its citizens. But getting kids off social media would be the one good consequence.
It is impossible to have nuanced discussions with teens. I want to talk with other adults.

It's about time the HAF and other Hindu organizations got down to being as obsessively focused on tracking down and burying every single entity spouting hate, including jokers online doing malicious things like posting addresses of entities employing visa holders or where they live. Bury them in lawsuits, make prominent examples of them frequently like the Jewish organizations do. These louts only respect strength.

I know bots aren't capable of reading the article, so I'm here to help you. It was, as you say- The Usual Suspects
"According to authorities, Alexandros Paporakis of Palatine was arrested after a manifesto expressing white supremacist ideologies and containing references to violence against people of "Indian descent" was recovered from his possession following an investigation into an alleged mass shooting plot."

transgender 19-year-old alleged neo-Nazi accused of plotting a racist mass shooting at a Hindu temple outside Chicago will get his hormone injections in jail while he awaits trial, a judge ruled.
A Cook County judge ordered Alexandros Paporakis held without bail Wednesday — but added a healthcare order, noting that the accused would-be terrorist takes hormone injections for gender transition, among other drugs, NBC Chicago reported.
