Honestly, super lucky. I know a guy that had a similar accident in a field storming in college that broke his leg was in a wheelchair for ages and 20+ years later never fully recovered to who he used to be

This whole play design was great. Watch it from when they first line up. 1st motion out and defenders with them. 2nd motion moves out the other way and more defenders went with. I'm looking and said to my wife, "holy shit, there is no one in the middle of the field"....he walked right in...
