Russia/Ukraine Elon Musk proposed slowing Starlink in Ukraine to Trump – The Telegraph
https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2026/10/16/8058435/•
u/Burner17273_ha 48m ago
To the surprise of no one except the knuckle draggers in the back of the class
•
•
u/theandroidknight 45m ago
Nationalize space x and starlink then, it’s a national security risk to have that power in one man’s hands. They only exist off the back of US tax dollars anyway
•
u/dinggusss 43m ago
Problem is the nation is also the problem
•
u/BVoLatte 29m ago
Except the only way this would happen is if it was under Democratic politicians since Elon isn't making Trump angry enough to do it right now. We're talking about a solution in the future when Trump is out of office rather than leaving it in the hands of someone indefinitely without any checks and balances like we have now.
•
u/Valuable-Term9559 22m ago
So true. The idea that one fascist Assberger can decide the fate of a fledgling democracy is sickening
•
•
u/montecarlocars 31m ago
This was proposed by Musk and implemented by the Pentagon. Starshield is controlled by the US Government—it’s already nationalized.
•
u/WhatsAboveTheSubtext 26m ago
Starlink, however, is not, and Starshield frequently relies on it.
•
u/montecarlocars 23m ago edited 11m ago
Regardless, “nationalizing” doesn’t solve the problem given the current federal government.
Edit the obvious problem with nationalizing is the federal government changes. The broader issue with nationalizing is that these innovative technologies come from a vibrant private sector. It’s tricky when you have oligarchs in charge of critical national security infrastructure but nationalization has its own issues.
•
u/WhatsAboveTheSubtext 16m ago
Oh, I didn't say anything about the current gov't. That's changing soon. Even then, though, I don't expect that we will do that. It's just what we should do.
•
u/askingforafakefriend 16m ago
Yeah, in this case "the call is coming from inside the house!"
Nationalizing starlink would be putting the entire network star shield, consumer, otherwise, all in the hands of the very people who are misusing it right now. This is a really stupid idea and shows the complete ignorance of the two commenters you are trying to educate here.
•
u/Amoral_Abe 16m ago
Starlink is already throttled as regular consumers would have no need to travel over 100 mph. Starshield is the one without limited normally. That's already under US government control... aka the Trump administration. Not any better for Ukraine.

Elon and his businesses should now be toast. EU should step up and classify him and his countries as an enemy.
Dude should be chased out of any respectable place for this.
•
u/Protean_Protein 37m ago
The EU declaring the United States an enemy seems like it feeds directly into Russia’s plan…
•
u/el_dude_brother2 24m ago
Well exactly, US is walking straight into their plan. EU will have no option soon but US is choosing to isolate themselves.
•
•
u/McFestus 21m ago
Reminder that Russia's disinformation efforts isn't exclusively right wing agitation. They play both sides.
•
u/KitsyBlue 5m ago
I do kinda understand the hesitation to classify US as an enemy.
I am also failing to see many alternatives if they keep choosing to act in the way they have been recently. The United States had a signed agreement to assist Ukraine should Russia invade in exchange for Ukraine not having nukes. The US is now not only backing out of their agreements, but actively helping the enemy.
•
u/Protean_Protein 0m ago
I think we all understand that the Trump administration is temporary (until proven otherwise), because, like, that’s how democracies work. So there is, unfortunately for Ukraine, a bit of a wise waiting/planning/strategizing game to be played where “support” for Ukraine walks a line until a more stable assessment of American foreign policy can be determined.

Elon Musk murdered the Ukranians killed in those bombings.
•
u/Grouchy-Job-4136 28m ago
Since his multinational corporation is acting as a rogue state agent, it should be treated as such.
•
•
u/Gentrified_Tramp 42m ago
At this point to me anyone holding any Elon stocks is also enabling this regime.
•
u/Professional_Class_4 42m ago
Cant the EU sue for contract violation? They pay for the equipment and subscription fees. Its not like Elon is doing a favour here.
•
u/Donkey_Karate 23m ago
Fucking traitors... now Trump is trying to normalize business with Russia. This shitty brand of fascism can't end soon enough.
•
u/Explorer335 24m ago
This sounds like the correct sequence of events. Trump is far too fucking stupid to think of this option on his own. Someone proposed that specific limitation to him. Musk is a disgusting fascist malignancy, but he isn't a complete idiot.
I'm sure the strikes against the MAGA bot farms did not escape their notice either.
•
u/tekniklee 18m ago
That’s why he wants to “partner” with Russia for bot ..er data farms. So an attack on them is an attack on US
•
u/TheShape108 32m ago
It's funny how fast they(Trump and Musk) both would rat on the other in a second if the slightest amount of pressure was applied but literally no one is willing to do it.
•
u/Ok_Interest_9006 22m ago
When the hijacking of American values is done I hope this guy gets deported
•
u/theangryfrogqc 44m ago
I've seen like 10 different articles all saying its the other way around or not at all or they both claim it was them.
Nobody cares. Trump wanted it, Musk did it.
•
u/1Meter_long 10m ago
Both Trump and Elon should just leave and go butt fuck each other in Mars. Day it happens could be named as Mars day in calendar.
•
u/dinggusss 44m ago
Funny, because when I said Elon was a douche on the Tesla sub, all the fanboys said he couldn’t do this.
•
•
•
u/gimmebanter 36m ago
It's weird that he just spent nearly 300 million dollars to save as many republicans as he can in midterms and now they are all bickering about who did what when.
There's gotta ba a strategy behind this nonsense
•
u/WhatsAboveTheSubtext 20m ago
While it doesn't pay to underestimate your adversary, there's also danger in overestimating them. These guys screw up and do stupid things, or evil things in stupid ways, all the time, and then proceed to trip all over themselves in the face of the slightest pushback from the courts, or from media, really. There's not much accountability because they control both houses and the presidency, the SC, etc., and he screened every appointee for slobbering loyalty. It's coming, though, and they will handle that stupidly and poorly, too.
•
u/pitshands 34m ago
It's time that something is done about rich people that think they can givern the world. He fucked up doge now he is trying hi hand on the world in General
•
u/onemanonecat 44m ago
Would love to see musk visit Kyiv and then form an opinion. Twitter trolls should not be allowed to be megalomaniac trillionaires.

•
u/Tron_Frankenstein 18m ago
It's like he's trying to be the most hated person in the planet. Someone should have shown him empathy as a child.
•
u/Blondefarmgirl 13m ago
I feel like this was a very stupid move. This is going to cost big American tech so much money as other countries build their own satellite and tech systems. Who is going to want to invest in companies that are going to shrink?
•
u/jkiddingx 37m ago
Does Elon not learn that Trump will constantly have a scapegoat? What's the penalty for treason again?
•
•
•
•
u/Vaulters 44m ago
Shocker, the assholes that are well supported by americans continue to do asshole shit.
I bet they made money on it too, somehow.

Epstein's MAGA and the Kremlin's Doge share blame for the war crimes happening now in Ukraine.
Its now imperative that we collect evidence and preserve it for the trials to come.
•
u/Much-Necessary2866 24m ago
I think they should just be awarded joint Biggest Cunt in the World status.
•
u/_Do_The_Needful_ 18m ago
A service that will screw around with your access at will. Sounds like something I will never pay for.
•
u/gabrielxdesign 37m ago
Never in my more than 4 decades of life I ever thought the USA would join the Soviet Union, or the actual wanna-be Soviet Union. Europe, you're watching this, force your politicians to act accordingly.
•
u/sudogeek 31m ago
I’d call this sabotage and a war crime. It would be sweet if Ukraine referred Musk, Trump, and Hegseth to the ICC for contributing to the deaths of Ukrainian civilians. At the very least, any country who has purchased or is considering purchasing Starlink/Starshield from Musk should sue for a refund and decommission the system.
•
u/BaconManDan9 20m ago
He’s going to go down as one of the most evil person to ever exist, I hope he gets the trials he deserves

If this POS is willing to thwart a country trying to survive against a hostile invading country, what is he willing to do in the U.S.? Time for everyone in the U.S. to abandon this POS and all his companies as he has abused his power.

Kinda brave to make oneself an apparent decision maker of strategic importance in a war between two technologically competent nations with a well-demonstrated reach and willingness for unilateral action.
